We were very happy with Dr. Chelsea. She had obviously spent time reviewing our questionnaire and listened to our concerns attentively. She thoroughly answered all our questions and explained the reasons behind her recommendations clearly. Everyone was great! The woman who checked us in was very accommodating. Slider seemed to have a rude fascination with Rita (I hope I'm remembering her name correctly), yet she was nonplussed and handled it well. As I mentioned, Dr. Chelsea was fabulous. And two other staff members even pitched in at the end to corral Slider when he attempted a jail break. Overall, the vibe was very calm and welcoming.

Never had a bad experience. Not one in seven years. Thanks to all involved. Very well-run business across all measurements, which ultimately is a win for clients. And we are lucky to have Dr. Joey as our primary vet, that's for sure.

I would definitely not recommend this place for your pet’s wellness visits. My dog has never had an issue with vaccines or check-ups and they refused to give him vaccines here due to him being nervous. We came back for a second try after they prescribed trazodone and clonidine (sedative medications) and they still decided he was too nervous and recommended that he undergo general sedation (an extra cost of $80-$100) so they could conduct the exam. I haven’t had issues with the Seaport location but coming here was a huge waste of my time.
Update: I was able to go to Bond Vet on Newbury on the same day as my visit to BVC and they had no problem giving my dog shots (without the effect of sedative medications or general sedation). In case you’re having the same issue I did at this location, I would definitely recommend going there instead.

Boston Veterinary Clinic (BVC) saw our dog Moxie quickly for an emergency visit late on a Friday. He'd never been stung before so we weren't sure how bad his allergic reaction would be - and it was clear that he was having one. His paw swelled up and he broke out in hives. However, because BVC got us in so quickly and got him the care he needed, the swelling was gone just 12 hours later. He's back to normal today - a day later.
Dr. Joey is so great and patient with Moxie and with us. Moxie is fearful of the vet, and Dr. Joey is always so patient with him. And we tend to have a lot of questions. She always takes time to answer all of our questions thoroughly. Our appointments never feel rushed.

Your staff was very accommodating for my pet who is very anxious and can often be aggressive towards other people and dogs. Knowing that your vet had "fear-free" training was a major reason I decided to schedule with your team, and I'm so glad I did. Julie and Dr. Ruzzo helped us so much. They were a great team! I was very impressed with how seamless they made the process, especially for my reactive lil guy.

I’ve been taking my cats here for a year and a half or so, and the staff at the Bay Village location have been so friendly, caring and informative at every visit. When they present my medical options and the costs it comes across as practical and never feels like an unnecessary upsell. Dr. Joey has been great at explaining veterinary stuff in layman. There is also a vet tech (maybe a vet tech? I'm not too familiar with roles in vet clinics) named Mina who has been very attentive and helpful. Everyone at the front desk is very welcoming and friendly too!

Very friendly and compassionate- got us in and out quickly with exactly the care we needed for our dog! The vet and assistant we had was so kind and explained everything to my kids in a very thoughtful and reassuring manner. Super pleased we found them! Everyone! Super friendly front desk staff to the vet assistant to the vet - everyone was amazing!

Dr. Chelsea and Sandra were incredibly kind, warm, and professional to Daisy. Daisy gets nervous at the vet but everyone at the clinic is very friendly and supportive to try and make her as comfortable as possible. Sandra was incredibly knowledgeable on all manners of animal health and helped educated me about my dog's teeth and how to improve oral health in the future.

This clinic doesn’t love pets as much as they love money. I’m fine with capitalism, but not with gouging. My dog had a very expensive procedure ($660) last week and today she is having some issues. I called them and Clare said that if I come in to the Brookline office, (which is two blocks away from me) I’ll be charged $165 emergency fee!!! She did offer me an appointment at the Tremont St office . So now I’m in traffic in a $25 Uber with a sick dog. WTAF.

I have been a customer of BVC in Bay Village for 6 years with two dogs and had consistently positive experiences with multiple vets. Unfortunately they have had staff turnover and maybe a change in their SOP, where the new vets are over-medicating dogs. Last year, my small dog had her annual physical and blood testing with no issues. Two weeks ago I brought my dog in for her checkup and the new vet said she couldn’t take blood because my dog was “anxious.” She said to come back after giving my dog two different anti-anxiety medications (klonapin and trazadone). My dog is a small, harmless animal and is excited to go to the vet and see the friendly staff so the idea of drugging her to take blood surprised me. We have also had dogs for the past 25 years and have never been asked to give them sedatives for routine blood work. Still, I gave her a half dose of medication which caused significant somnolence to the point she was barely awake and brought her back for blood work. The vet (without seeing the patient!) refused to take blood unless we came back after taking the full dose. I said the full dose was clearly not necessary and seemed dangerous but the technician said there was nothing to be done. After our experience today we noted that there are have been several reviews in the past several months with dog owners having similar experiences indicating that there has been a change in how the Boston Veterinary Clinic goes about their business. This is very disappointing and we will have to find another vet.
