Location in East Lyme, CT.I had been a customer of Citizens Bank and its preceding organizations in NIantic & East Lyme since I was a small child. I'm now 70 years old.Citizens Bank overall quality has deteriorated to the point that I've already moved most assets and closed most accounts as I phase out any remainder of my business relationship with them.Their service is poor, their service fees not competitive with other more convenient options, and their account minimums not it step with corresponding benefits offered. Expense ratios for investment products is exorbitant relative to any real or perceived added value. Unless you are completely ignorant of how to invest, you will do better by going to just about any alternative I can think of.There does not appear to be any advantage of holding an account in a local Citizens Bank branch when it comes to getting help with the very large central bank. Phone based customer service from the main bank can be very time consuming, and if and the human you might finally reach does not have the ability to phone you back to continue assist should you have problems. If your time is not worth anything to you, then Citizens might be OK for you. It is not for me. To add insult to injury, when closing out an investment account, they charged me a $100 account termination fee! When I protested the representative told me ALL OF THEIR COMPETITORS DO IT TOO!.... interesting, I've held numerous accounts with other banks and brokerages for more than 60 years, and closed and opened many accounts. This is the very first time I've been charged an account termination fee. This will be the last fee Citizens Bank every receives from me.

Please don't insult the banking industry & call this a bank it's a disgrace Although my fault for staying a customer after numerous mistakes but as soon as this is resolved I'm changing banks.

Arrive before 5pm to open an account, and they turn me away because the line was long, and they are about to closed.

I would give negative stars if I could. This review isn't for this branch but for the Citizen's Bank cooperation in general. My father died from complications of Covid last year. He lived in a nursing home, had no property and just a couple bank accounts totaling less than 3K. Another bank had no problem transferring his funds to me after I showed a death certificate and documentation that I was his next of kin.He also had $200 in a Citizen's account. $200!!!! After hours on the phone getting conflicting information about how to close his account and then spending hours in person on my days off trying to find someone at a branch who would speak to me about closing it because I wasn't the account holder, I was finally told that I had to drive one hour each way to the courthouse and pay $120 to file paperwork that I'm his executor!!! For $200!!!! It's not worth it so I just decided to leave the money where it is. Fast forward several months, Citizen's keeps sending statements to his old address that someone there then must forward to me!!!! I called again today and they won't change the address because it's not my account even though his death certificate is on file with them!!! NowI will be forced on another day off to pay the $120 just to have them stop sending statements to an incorrect address!!!!
