This Star Market location, formerly Shaw's, is the closest full-service grocery for us, but for most things we visit the Trader Joe's location in Brookline's Coolidge Corner. At the Commonwealth Ave. Star Market, over the past twenty years prices have climbed and quality has fallen. However, new management a few years ago gradually made some improvements.There are occasional quality items at reasonable prices. The Osco pharmacy, located on the side of the store away from Commonwealth Ave. and recently rebranded as "Star Market Pharmacy," provides good service, particularly for vaccines, although it has a smaller variety of prescription drugs than major pharmacies wuch as Wagreen's and CVS.

food in deli doesn't look fresh, can never find what looking for, overpriced for cat food, vegetables not always fresh

Order a delivery but the driver is no show and never got the items. No proof of delivery picture. Call the customer service but no one knows happened. Not my fault but I still have to wait for the refund 5-7 business days. Feel unsafe to order here. The driver may have taken all the items or he didn't even delivered it at all. Waste of time and a huge disappointment.

worst customer service personnel. they make you feel like you're stealing food from their baby's mouth. today this person looked at the item I was returning for a second and said I did not buy it here. I said here's my receipt. then she said I bought it at the pharmacy counter. no , once again look at the $144 grocery receipt with this item on it. reluctantly I got my refund. I went shopping and got overcharged for eggs. I had to go back to her now. I took a picture of the eggs on sale and showed her. She said it's not the same eggs, although the picture included the sale sticker and all the other same eggs. She gave in after staring at it for a minute.

I am regular customer here despite the increasingly empty spaces on the shelves and the deplorable condition of the physical facility. I only buy on line what I can't find here because I like to support businesses in the neighborhood. But today that changes. I was there at 4:45 on a Thursday looking for individual spare ribs to make Chinese style. They had none that were pre cut but did have a full rack. I asked the man at the meat counter to please cut them and he flat out refused. No, there were no other customers in the area waiting, so nobody would have been delayed if he had done that. Because of his attitude, from now on I will be buying a lot more on Amazon and a lot less here.

Unprofessional worker - Got into a minor conflict (no physical nor aggressive words) with a typical Boston KAREN while checking out. An African American female worker approached and started pointing fingers at me like I was not a customer, although I have been shopping here for SIX-YEAR. Obviously, she does not know how to ease the situation and solve conflicts. Need to train the staff on how to treat customers equally instead of siding with one and flaming on another.

It's sad they have such a creepy seafood manager, Derrick is his name . It could be so much better in that department. He always has the same ole specials , never any variety. He's nice to certain ones if u know what I mean, seen him all up on a lady . What a scum bag ! Always laughing and cutting up with the coworkers, but treats most of the customers like crap ! What a bitter man ! He had quite the reputation ! Star market u can do better than this !!!

Someone needs to do something about that creepy employee, Michael. I haven't seen a single example of cleaning or sanitizing throughout the entire store, and today, he had his hands all over every single item in my cart while I was in the self checkout area because I had asked for help with one coupon. That's needless contact on things I have to take home and eat from someone who exhibits no signs of handwashing or sanitizing but can be seen grabbing baskets and carts with other people's germs all the time.

Stopped in here one morning to grab fruit for breakfast on the way to work. Produce clerks smelled like cigarettes, other employees smoking outside near entrance. Disgusting. I'll stick to Trader Joe's from now on.

Line. One register. Vile don't give them money. Not even self check out, don't use that either they just want to make you work and gyp you. Multiple workers walking around not helping anyone. When you ask them when are they going to open another registers, they say "I'm off in 10 minutes". Manager standing around not opening another register. This is why everyone goes to Trader Joe's instead of Star Market who hates their customers and just want to nickel and dime you to get your money. Vile. AND WHY ISNT IT OPEN 24 hour a day still. THAT IS WHY I MOVED TO THIS NEIGHBORHOOD. BS.

If you need groceries then this place is fine. It's just a grocery store. Nbd. Once when I was here the young girl checking me out handed me my receipt and then just went on her phone instead of bagging my groceries. I don't really care, but I found it kinda funny. I worked at a grocery store and I would have been yelled at for something like that.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I just had my first experience in this awful place. The woman checking me out was not nice nor courteous and I bagged my bags myself (I had to pay for each bag too). She told me about the discounts after I was done but would not apply them to my current purchase. Then, when trying to leave, the cart halted once outside of the doors - a woman leaving was shocked that nobody inside the store explained the process to me, but the entire time I was in the store not one staff person spoke to me, asked if I needed any help, or gave me any direction. Apparently you're supposed to go to a specific area where they will assist you in bringing your car around, but there were no signs or people explaining this anywhere. I am appalled at the lack of service in such a young neighborhood where kids will be coming to college for the first time - i will not be going back and don't recommend it!
