After 25 years of searching I realized the only way I would ever find a leather jacket that fits me would be to have it custom made. I bought a pattern from Vogue, a whole cow hide, three rabbit pelts, and 12 yards of black satin and brought it to Rey. four and a half months and MANY modifications later (including the detachable hood with rabbit fur trim, large zippered pockets, puff shoulders and a center zipper instead of the straight shoulders and asymetrical motorcycle side zipper from the original pattern), I now have this GORGEOUS bespoke jacket of my dreams! Rey was wonderful to work with - endlessly patient and accommodating, and IMO very reasonably priced. Besides what I paid for materials, he only charged me $600 to make the whole thing from scratch! Five hundred stars!! 1000% recommend!!

Went here to increase the size of some tuxedo pants I needed for a gala for just under a week after when I brought them in. The resizing was perfect, done in time, and so well priced! I recommended this place to a friend who needed her dress hemmed for the same event and they got it done in a day. Highly highly recommend Designs by Rey!

He did an excellent job with a difficult repair. I needed the torso lengthened on a jumpsuit. I have taken several odds and ends to Rey, and he always does an excellent job

It's hard to find a tailor let alone a good one. Rey has now altered 5 dresses for me, from hems to adjusting straps and fit, and all have been done well and as I wanted. He's also done hems on a couple of jeans and worked with synthetic leather. I would not hesitate to bring anything to him.Service: Alterations

I found Rey on a community page and I'm so glad I did! He is a true professional and I've used him for dresses and pants, and my boyfriend had an entire suit tailored. We couldn't be happier with the exceptional results. He works quickly and his prices are very reasonable. Do not take any garments you care about here. I had a very negative experience:1. I brought a dress that was simple, asking for it to be cut into a top and bottom and tailored. It was all one piece of material, no lining or layers, very simple in design. I showed him a photo of the desired outcome. He took very few measurements which I thought was odd. He charged me $100, which was a little steep given the simplicity of the garment and alteration.2. When I went to pick it up, it had been cut in two but no other alterations for it to fit properly as shown in the example photo had been done. It looked awful and baggy and the skirt was nearly falling off my waist. I asked for him to fit it/take it in. He put one clip each on the skirt and top (again, taking less measurements/not pinning as I've had other tailors do in the past), and told me it would be ready 3 days later.4. I returned 5 days later to give a grace period, and he said it still had not been worked on. I wasted a trip all the way there (and it is not an easy place to drive to or find parking)5. When I returned to finally pick up the garment again, the tailoring was awful. He had taken it in too tightly at the waist and it was puckering, the top hadn't been taken in much at all.He gave me my money back when I told him I was unhappy with the garment. That was appropriate, but now the garment is unwearable, a vintage dress ruined, and it's too close to my event to have someone else fix it. I do NOT recommend Designs by Rey unless you are OK with no attention to detail/sloppy alterations.

I got my wedding dress from a boutique in the SF Bay Area, and my husband got his suit from Hockerty online. We got alterations on the dress before moving to Boston but realized shortly before the wedding that it was no longer fitting as well. We didn't have much time for alterations before the wedding, but Rey took care of us quickly. He did my husband's suit quickly as well. Not only did he do a great job with the alterations, but he went above and beyond--he even made custom buttons for my dress's bustle out of extra dress fabric (something we didn't ask for but was much appreciated). It was clear that he was really looking to do a good job and be proud of his work, not just get paid. His prices were also super reasonable, especially given the speed with which we needed alterations done. We saw lots of different types of clothing in his shop, so seems like he may be a good option for anyone looking for tailoring, not just for wedding alterations.

I cannot recommend Rey enough for all your tailoring needs. I brought my wedding dress to Rey's for alterations including taking it in, hemming the length, and adding a bustle. All services were completed with expertise and within the expected time frame. Making sure the dress fit a certain way took multiple visits and Rey did not stop until I was 100% satisfied with how it looked. The price (affordable to begin with) never changed despite the extra visits and attention. I feel so lucky to have Rey and his team as our patient and highly skilled neighborhood tailors!Service: Alterations

I bought a suit last minute and really thought I could hem and taper the pants on my own... for a wedding that evening. Thankfully, I found Designs by Rey and they were able to do a same-day alteration at a very reasonable price. The pants came out wonderfully and fit like a glove. Highly recommend them for fast service! Next time, I'll be sure to be a bit more organized when it comes to buying formal outfits in advance.
