I am a former Eastern Bank employee, the working environment in the Dedham, Massachusetts branch is extremely toxic, treacherous, and duplicitous and management is phony and double-dealing!They'll give you a false sense of job security, smile right in your face and clandestinely plot your termination. Favoritism is very rampant here. The Dedham, MA branch also has a serious attrition problem, due to the way the disrespectful way the branch manager treats new and current employees! She was very disrespectful and negative! She regularly looked me right in the eye and complimented my work and job performance, while secretly plotting to throw me under the bus! The branch manager is nothing but a micro-managing b!tch! A lot of "backstabbing" going on here! I almost quit the second week working there! I also noticed that the branch manager regularly talks about associates behind their backs but with smiles in their faces!! A very toxic workplace indeed! I'm glad I'm gone! The narcissistic corporate trainer treats trainees/new hires like trash!!She kept bragging about her long career with Eastern Bank and disrespected a new employee while using inappropriate expletives and came off as very phony.Eastern Bank has a lot of grandfathered dead weight destroying their brand and reputation. They allowed my former branch and assistant branch managers to treat new employees like $laves!! She was always threatening to terminate me if made 1 mistake!! She'll throw you over the edge if you're a new branch! She'll also deceive new employees into believing Eastern Bank actually cares about them! My old branch manager would overreact over every single trivial thing! I hope Eastern Bank gets rid of your narcissistic, vindictive draconian corporate trainers! She treated me like I was stupid!! I found her narcissistic, shallow, and insecure!! She kept bragging about her long career with Eastern Bank and disrespected a new employee while using inappropriate expletives and came off as very phony. Abolish your pass-or-fail training programs!! The training is helpful, but does not prepare you for working in the branch! Eastern Bank needs to give the sales associates an open-door policy to vent about how branch managers treat employees, especially the new ones!

The Worst! They tried to charge me $50 per hour to send me my statements Plus $6 per Page of Statements! That was to EMAIL me the statemeb. It was like 50 something Pages 49 Pages or something they had the balls to ask me for $318 to email me my own statements. And when I called to question it the guy talk to me as though he was serious about me paying $318 to get my own statements I will never do business with them again. All banks are tough but these guys are completely insane. They should focus Less on diversity equity and inclusion and focus more on banking!

LOUD and WRONG- I really wanted to leave a good review because my initial experience was positive. Difficult rude and uninformed teller. If you need business services, see the manager. Unfortunately I needed a cashiers check to pay our construction firm. When I asked Belicia if she could help with a cashiers check and withdrawal she replied,"FOR WHAT?!?" When I tried to explain "FOR WHAT?!?"Then she just said,"You need to fill out a withdrawal slip."This was my first and probably last trip to use banking services. She told me I had to have an in state ID (wrong). I had written down the account number, amounts and gave it to her with my ID and she still was angry and asked me how long I had an account. At this point she told the manager,"This is a lot of money." As if she was going to tell me that we couldn't pay our vendor." Luckily the Manager who helped me open the account was there, corrected her errors on policies and Belicia put on a fake smile for the remainder of the encounter.I can't wait for my debit card and checks to arrive so I don't have to deal with Belicia and her attitude anymore.

Used to be a good bank... We chose them because they were not a large bank and they valued customer service. Turn times on processing loan files is super long compared to other small banks (almost 4 months with no communication at all). Also, I just got a real bad attitude from an Ashley at their call center. Who proceeded to tell me that I need to be more "SPECIFIC" about where I wanted to be transferred after I asked to her... Would you mind transferring me to the Everett branch please? In loss for words...

Had multiple fraudulent charges on my account (not the first time!) and the process for taking them off is ridiculous. It's taking forever for them to resolve it. I had to change my account number, go to a branch and sign paperwork and still nothing. I'm told to just wait for an email... as soon as this is resolved I'll be closing my accounts and moving elsewhere.

Works banking I ever have, they overdraft me even the same day I made a deposit, they don't give you enough options. Don't put your money here and pay fees that they play you.

On November 18th, I went to the Eastern Bank Branch on Carver Road Plymouth, MA. To set up an appointment to cash a large "Treasurers" check and receive it in cash, rather than deposit. The appointment was to allow the bank sufficient time "a week" to gather the money for the dispersal. I was amazed at the interrogation I was subjected to, that was conducted by the Head Teller, in full view and hearing of other customers. I was questioned repeatably as to why I needed cash vs depositing it. At first I thought it might be concern as to my age and possible scamming situation ? But no, it wasn't until I asked, should I bring my attorney to the bank to discuss there refusal to pay out on a check drawn on there bank. She then requested my name and phone number and would call me with a date. Keep in mind I've had an account with this bank for several years. Today I'll return to the bank, if no satisfaction it's off to Boston Corporate with attorney and possible file suit.

While trying to resolve a transfer issue today, I called support. After holding for 20 minutes, elected to have Eastern support call me back. Eastern Bank support called me back quickly and promptly put me on hold. My call was disconnected 12 minutes later.

My mom passed and had an account with Eastern bank. I've been fighting with them since the end of April to get Eastern to cooperate with the probate court and estate. She opened her account decades ago, so when they told me to send the death certificate and probate documents to the branch she opened her account with I couldn't, as that branch closed in the late 2000s. This took more than two weeks to resolve. Eventually I was told to send documents over to the branch in Weymouth MA. All the documents they wanted, as well as a voided check and instructions of what to do with my mother's account were sent the day I finally got told what branch to send her stuff to. I sent this via certified mail and they received it June 7th according to USPS. They have neither transferred the funds to the estate account, contacted my lawyer or I, or even sent back the probate documents in the press addressed and stamped envelope. Their phone system is clunky. I am close to getting my probate lawyer more directly involved with this, because it's now been two full months. None of her other banks have been this difficult to deal with. At this point Eastern Bank is one of the only reasons we can't settle her estate.I've been on and off the phone for weeks trying to get this resolved. There's no way to directly contact the branch you need to; I have to call the central customer service line and wait to be transferred to the Weymouth branch. I'm pretty sure at this point that they've lost the probate documents. I've been told that the branch manager will call me back as soon as she can. We'll see if today is the day she calls me.If you have an elderly parent with an account at this bank, please convince them for your sanity to either add you to their account or move their funds somewhere else. Dealing with this level of Kafkaesque beaurocracy is not worth it, especially when you're grieving your dead mother.

I used to like this bank, but its customer service went downhill quickly. It takes them up to a week to respond to a question, and on a few occasions they did not respond to my concerns at all. They also could not update their automated reminders, so even long after closing loan account I kept getting them. Customer service could not fix the issue and kept bouncing me around. I finally got really fed up and closed the accounts with them. Their excuse of slow customer service was Covid, but it's a lousy excuse, because white collar customer service can be provided by someone working from home. It is not a factory job where your physical presence is always required. So, my guess is, the bank got greedy and laid off or furloughed a bunch of its employees and put extra work on the remaining ones. As a customer, I will not stay loyal to someone like that.

Sure wish I had read these reviews prior to opening an account. Ugh, the worst banking app ever. ad to un-install and re-install twice. Finally got it running but somehow a few of the prompts don't work? I can't even use the the functions in the app that are important to my needs. And customer service? Makes sense they have customers but they should remove the word "service". I'm referring to the 45 minute telephone wait times and horrible in branch service; to the condescending attitude and poor listening skills, too busy trying to talk over you while you're speaking behaviors from management after complaining. This bank is a prime candidate for a complete overhaul. Throw the whole bank away and start over. Ugh.
