Decent gym, but not great for the price. Best thing about it is the location. There is lots of equipment. Nice lockers and showers. Pretty crowded most of the peak times. Broken equipment stays broken for a long time, and even cheap equipment like mini loop bands are hard to come by (no medium or light resistance bands available). Closes pretty early (9 pm on weekdays, 7 on weekends), so might not work for everyone if you have a demanding job. May not be worth it unless your employer is footing the full bill.

Tried a yoga class today for the first time after being a member for some months. It was great, Pat helped me understand a few different poses that I didn't even really understand from watching youtube videos. Would recommend. Thanks for the help

It’s not a terrible gym. But I would note the following:- The music is terrible. Usually not an issue but if you forget headphones or they run out of battery, you’re often stuck listening to a random assortment of radio hits.- There are large TVs on multiple of the walls. Do I reaaally need to have a dog show above me when I am lifting?- Equipment: Just three squat racks? No hack squat? Heavy dumbbells only on one side, so if people happen to be doing /anything/ there you can’t use them? Hex bar fits ~3 plates? Not great.- Open space concept is a nice idea but ends up as a minefield- trying to get water around people planking and burpeeing and training in the narrow gaps between areas is ridiculous.- Outdoor space is a great touch. But it’s not covered so you can’t use it in the winter, gets too hot in the summer, and you can’t use it when it’s raining or has recently rained. And you can’t make too much noise. So overall not worth much.- Busy, even at 6am- would not be a complaint if it wasn’t so hyper focused on being “exclusive” and so pricy.- Deadlift platforms have offset mirrors which is unsettling, and OL pads which make deadlifts more difficult. Would be great for Olympic lifting- but neither can you drop weights nor would anyone really be snatching here anyway, so what’s the point?- Too expensive- Their emails are absurdly sexual / suggestive- Scale in bathroom doesn’t work

Gym is fine but absolute terrible interaction with sales/membership associate JT. During sign up promised a free week, mentioned with my membership multiple guest passes, training sessions and massage sessions. When following up flat out lies about the week being applied to my statement, then says it cant be done after telling me in his office he could give me credit for it to the store. Does not follow up on the guest passes, training and massage sessions. To even get his attention you have to email multiple times. Whatever he says during your initial meeting with him, do not believe it. As soon as you leave he will forget it, and then either blame it on you or feign ignorance when you bring it back up.Edit: Lindsey, the club director followed up straightened out all misunderstandings. She was kind, and forthcoming with information, which was the most helpful in this situation. She deserves all the kudos for handling and fixing the situation.

Pretty terrible customer service. I had been a member for seven years prior to Covid. I was looking to get a new membership that was not a year contract but despite all the years I was a Member they will not allow that. They said my membership needs to start new and have a 12 month commitment before it goes month to month. I even said I'd be happy to pay a higher rate for a membership with one month notice period for cancellation but they wouldn't accept that. Pretty disappointed with their inflexibility.

Look, I love equinox and I'm an evangelical member. But this location needs to be expanded or renovated or moved. I have lived in NYC, San Francisco and Boston while being a member of Equinox, and I'm actually considering cancelling my membership for the time that I live in Boston. The Dartmouth location is essentially a planet fitness for 10x the price. It is by far the worst equinox I've ever visited. Some equinoxes are exceptional, like Pine Street in SF or Printing House in NYC. In NYC, equinox is on every block. But in Boston, you have the worst of both worlds -- except for Seaport, the clubs are incredibly lackluster, and there are only a few clubs (which also means they are usually packed). The Dartmouth location is VISIBLY dirty and old, needs renovations. Oh and by the way, it closes at 9pm. Remind me again why I'm paying $250/month for a slightly upgraded Planet Fitness with fewer hours?

I appreciate the flat irons, lotion, hot tub, sauna and steam room as a working woman it is my only relaxation time. The cleanest gym I have ever been to and no worrying about the stares of men. In addition the lockers come with an installed code to set so you don't need to bring a lock.

Nice gym, but the membership associates outright lie about the terms of the membership agreement to get you to sign up on the spot. A previous review also mentioned this. Wish I'd seen it sooner. Please beware and do NOT sign up for anything without asking for a copy of the membership agreement first to fact-check the salespeople. Really shady and disappointed.EDIT: I spoke with management who was apologetic and reconciled the situation. I hope they change these tactics, but I am at least happy that management responded quickly and appropriately.

The Back Bay location is really clean and staff are friendly. Also super convenient via public transit. I typically don't like workout classes, but this seems to work for me. In particular, I like that the workout has structure (even time on treadmill, rowing and weights), but what you do at each station changes every class, so it's not boring or repetitive.

Equinox Dartmouth team has been nothing short of extremely welcoming, encouraging and supportive! I never thought I would love working out but this gym changed that!

Great gym and great people! Equinox Dartmouth has a great atmosphere with both staff and members willing to help out! If you are looking for a gym then definitely check this place out!

Issues are as follows: 1) the music volume is frequently blaring to a degree that you need to have your music at a deafening volume to drone it out. This depends on who is working, but it shouldn't. 2) they need more free weight benches and places to do pull ups. The allocation of space is very odd. 3)The closing time could be extended
