This company just wants to steal money from people. Poor management and service, they don’t tell you anything before you rent, but after you rented their car they ask you to pay a lot more money and I don’t recommend anyone to rent a car from them.

Don’t use this company. Horrible car(s). My car arrived with a damaged tire, the car was in poor condition and too dangerous to drive. Customer service was terrible and local leadership was deflated and basically conceded they were running on a shoestring and had no cars to replace the junk they tried to give me.Now I have to return the car to some place 40 miles west of Boston and you have to make an appointment three days out for return? You can’t simply drop the car off. And they want $149 to come pick it up!Business HINT: Get a place closer to the Boston population!

My mother rented a car from Flexcar that was picked up in Boston with the expectation that it would be returned there. The draw was the ability to rent week to week or month to month. Upon pickup we must have seen 10 cars before finding one that didn't have a smell (mostly smoke), reasonably clean, and without much body/wheel damage. Most cars seem the have the minimal amount of maintenance to get them out the door. Not long into the rental there was a tire issue and their only offer was to drive it 30 minutes away to get it fixed by their authorized shop (Pep Boys in Brockton). Not ideal and they are unwilling to reimbirse small expenses like that done locally... we ended up paying out of pocket, which is what they probably hope. The theme of making things difficult came came up again at the end of the rental. At some point during the rental they closed the Boston location without notifying my mother and giving her the opportunity to return the car there before it closed. They are now only offering "free" returns at their Auburn location that's ~50 miles from where the rental originated. That's not exactly free when you consider the time, transportation back, and the mileage the charge on the trip there. They are offering to pick up the car where it originated for a fee of $150, which is unfair, unreasonable, and possibly not legal. It seems that Flexcar is making returns prohibitive in an effort to extend rentals, particularly for seniors like my mother who cannot drive long distances and those who lack transportation, which is the whole point of the rental to begin with. Due to questionable business practices and my experience of seeing that that their vehicles seem to be poorly maintained I have to recommend not using them.

awful company to deal with. Never can speak with anyone who has authority. Switched drop off location 2 hours away. Who does that during a contract? That is a four hour excursion to return a car. Not right. Just awful. Oh they will pick it up for you for $150.00!!!! Don’t do it unless you live near Auburn

Wrote a negative review, which was then taken down by Trustpilot...easier to write another one.In just over 1 year since I joined - rates went up dramatically, no longer weekly options, no longer the option to return when maintenance is needed, and now the only "hub" is in Auburn which is close to nowhere. Started as a good product, no longer reasonable.

Despite having excellent credit and a clean driving record I was turned away. I paid for a Massachusetts driving license (I’m Canadian) all for nothing. Online chat told me they only approve people based on they computer system. Very unhelpful and frustrating since according to their qualification requirements I should definitely be approved.

People don't waste your money I just recently cancelled them and I feel so happy, they charge way to much money for the everyday blue collar worker, you are better off saving and buying your own car or just go to a regular car rental company, flex car is just a bunch of scammers and very expensive for no reason

This is a classic predatory subscription service. They will drop the car off for you and take your money handily, but returning the car is a nightmare. The only location in Massachusetts now is in Auburn, and they closed all other locations after customers had signed up with the intention to drop the car back off at the original locations. They will not refund the annual membership fee either, so now I am paying for a service that I cannot use. Not worth it, go elsewhere.

I had 2 accidents which i was not found at fault flexcar stated i can not have a account with them no more because of the accidents being within 12 months regardless me not being at fault. When i stated where in the subscriber agreement that states the 2 accident rule..No person can tell me anything they just repeat themselves and Then say i would have to close my account then submit another and pay more money to get i to another car..its crazy cause i had them almost 2 years now to treat customers like that will make you lose customers

Worst experience ever. Would leave 0 stars if I could. Set up a flexcar rental on a Thursday to pick up at 12:30-1pm on Sunday. Called flexcar at 11am Sunday to confirm everything was set. After waiting 30 minutes I spoke to someone who verified I was good to go. Drove an hour to pick location. Another customer was on with flexcar because her car wasn’t at the location. My vehicle was not there either. There was another model parked and unlocked. I assumed they switched my vehicle but called flexcar to double check. Waited another 30 minutes to talk to someone who said I couldn’t take that vehicle since it wasn’t what was on my profile/ account. Drove home without a car, my credit card was charged. 4 hours later no car. Called again and was told they were short staffed and had no answers for me. No customer service. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, AWFUL COMPANY AND NO RESOLUTION. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Feels like I’ve been scammed!

Horrible experience... Please find an alternative option. There might not be that many options available with lower cost but you may find some honest companies who value honesty and commitment. Here is my experience with Flexcar. I had a reservation with Flexcar on 26th May 23, and generally, they ask you to do the verification check before 3 PM of an earlier day. Since I didn't have my driver's license in hand I had to send a screenshot of it, which they rejected, and reset the account so that I can submit the ID again, and I totally agree with it. I submitted the actual photo of the ID again, and they accepted and gave me a confirmation on the app stating that the verification was complete and the car is ready to be picked up.2hrs before the pickup time, for no reason, they canceled my reservation and they didn't even inform me in any manner. I looked in the app, and the reservation disappeared. I called the customer representative and they said their security team checked the IDs and canceled the order even though their app indicated the verification was done. I honestly believe the car wasn't available then, and they just canceled it. Because I tried to book the same car again which is available from 31st May.After that incident, with no option left, I had to book the same car from 31st May. When I booked the vehicle for 2nd time, they charged me the car prep fee of $99 (which they didn't for the first order), and the reason for that was I reserved the car for 2nd time even though the first order was canceled, they can't apply to the 2nd order. I NEVER TOOK THE CAR...Having back to back bad experiences, I canceled my entire account and decided to go for a different rental even if I had to pay thousands... I hope it happens to no one.Oh no the review option didn't allow me to post "zero" stars. I'm giving 1 star so that I can post the review.

Questionable business practices regarding customer satisfaction with their car rental service. Dirty, smoke smelling vehicles or cars needing to be serviced. I just see so many customer complaints about the cleanliness of the cars being rented and a day later being swapped out for various operational or safety issues and some people complaining about their refunds and the availability or lack thereof of vehicles that have been reserved and given the impression that said vehicles will be ready to be picked up and the customer showing up to the car lot only to find out that their vehicle isnt there or hasnt been processed as promised
