This used to be Jordan Marsh's flagship store - yes, I'm that old - until it was merged into Macy's. As a kid, I remember the delightful, elaborate Christmas displays with live Santas that they used to have along Summer Street. Thankfully, this store still puts them on for the holidays, if at a much reduced scale.Inside, it's as if nothing has changed in the last 20 or 30 years. The same shelves, beaten-up décor, and drab lighting make for a downbeat shopping experience, especially if entire sections look completely empty. Even if clothes shopping doesn't feel upscale here nowadays, it's still a dependable place for kitchenwares, luggage, and other bulky household items.

I recently visited Macys on Washington Street in Boston. I visited the shoe department and found a pair of shoes I wanted to try. The agent told me it would be two to three minutes while he searched for the shoes. He then proceeded to spend several minutes arranging shoes before he went to search for my shoes. 15 minutes later he emerged with the shoes. I tried them on and decided to buy them. No one was around. I waited at the register for an additional 10 minutes and no one emerged. I ended up leaving the shoes on the desk. I then found a jacket I wanted to buy. I couldn't find any place to purchase it. When I did find a register it was 10 people deep. I abandoned the jacket and left. So unfortunate to experience this low level of service. I wonder how much money Macys has lost.

This Macy's was interesting. They had a lot of summer clothing despite it being October. That surprised me. They did have a lot of boots to choose from. I tried on a couple pair of boots but nothing really jived for me. I did end up purchasing a Calvin Klein blouse. The store is spaced out nicely. I think there were three levels. A nice lady helped me in the shoes department. She took the time to answer questions even though she had lots of customers around her. That was the opposite of the clothing department where it took quite a while to find someone to ring me up even though there were no customers. This is probably the nicest department store in Downtown Boston. They also have a Starbucks on the first floor.

So where is everybody? The store has gone down in service and shopping energy is gone! People are just walking aimlessly and there's like one clerk in the men's section, one college student in the sunglass section who gets paid by the hour who'll make enough hours to file unemployment. nobody at the cosmetic counters barely anybody on the second floor where the women's department is and it's dead! I used to work in town so I remembered how busy this place was with a lot of store clerks helping out. I'm guessing it's because of the internet and online shopping. This store is huge and I just feel it's never going to be the same which is depressing for Macy's. Macy's is an iconic store through the years and all I can think of right now is the Macy's Thanksgiving parade.. will they even be one now? It's depressing and lonely. And the sparce clientele is really strange like why is the creepy homeless man looking at sunglasses here? Shopping in stores are going to be obsolete just like cursive handwriting.

(Translated by Google) Wow, I have always liked Macy's because there is a variety of clothes, shoes, perfumes, there is everything and for everyone because there are things that are a bit expensive, but if you like it, I buy it, but there are also things that are affordable for your pocket, there is a place to drink coffee and sit for a while and then keep looking for so many beautiful things and the staff is excellent they speak Spanish English and Arabic I invite you to visit this place(Original)Wow siempre me a gustado Macy's porque hay variedad de ropa zapatos perfumes hay a de todo y para todos porque hay cosas un poco caras pero si te gusta la compro pero también hay cosas accesibles a tu bolsillo hay donde tomar café y sentarse un ratito y luego seguir buscando tantas cosas bonitas y el personal es excelente hablan español Inglés y árabe los convido a visitar este lugar

While on vacation, I stopped by to go shopping for my dad. Without a doubt the men's department is way better than some of the other Macy's stores I have visited locally where I live. The men's collection was way more substantial with plenty of different options.

Very messy, disorganized extremely limited in quality and variety of clothing Difficult to define the beginning and ending points of backstage and regular Macy's. I was hoping that Macy's was attempting to follow in Filenes Basement foot steps for quality. Very disappointed.

Macy's just elevatored their stars in my eyes! This location added Macy's Back Stage to their 2nd floor. It is a like a Marshalls or TJ Maxx built right into Macy's! Great finds from housewares to clothing! This store is VERY clean and neat. The staff are always nice to me. Starbucks inside of Macy's on the 1st Floor opens at 11 am for the time-being. It is best to take the T to get to this location as parking can be expensive.

Never got a response from the letter I wrote to the CEO. We canceled our Macy's credit card. Macy's you are dead to me!
