Check your reservation receipt carefully! At the very bottom of my receipt, it stated that an additional $35 per night/per room charge would be an additional fee. That fee was charged after I checked out. So that $35 dollar food voucher that you get at check-in? Make sure you spend it, because you're being charged for it after you leave. If you click on enough buttons on the website, you will find this information, and more savvy travelers than myself might pay better attention to those details, but I was taken by surprise. Also, you will pay an additional $40 per day for parking at a garage that is two blocks away if you have a car.The rooms are small, really small. There is no desk or proper chair. There is no refrigerator or closet. The hotel is cultivating a very artsy, eclectic vibe, which goes with the theater district it's located in.On the bright side, the location is central and the universities I was visiting with my child were close by. Boston Common, Faneuil Hall, and Quincy Market are within walking distance. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly.I knew staying in Boston would be expensive, and I was trying to balance location with cost, but I think a more traditional hotel might have been a better fit. Including the fees and taxes, I paid $260.20 per night for the room. If you also include the $40 for parking, that brings it to just over $300 per day.Rooms: Small.Safety: I felt safe.Walkability: There is a great deal within walking distance.Noteworthy details: The hotel is near a medical center. I heard sirens frequently.

Clean, trendy, and downtown. Not a full service hotel, but more like a hip decor.

not happy with this place at all. stayed for one night and was charged $40 for absolutely nothing. i had already paid $200+ for the room.. for it to be insanely small with an unfinished ceiling. called and was told it was for traveling fees??? and they apologized for no one explaining it to me… sounds like they need to figure that out because i was very disappointed. and i know im not the only one. i was told i would get $75 back and only get $30? didn’t even wanna get drinks at the bar. plastic cups and prices were insane. would not recommend! find a different place to stay unless you wanna be scammed

What a great gamble! We'd never heard about this hotel before but it's perfect. From the fun front entrance and check in on the second floor everything is just right. Easy check in, small room but it's just right and packs more than you need and expect. Free welcome doughnut and cocktail and great and kind staff. Nice welcoming touches like having your name on the TV make you feel at home. The location is another big plus, close to the Boston Common and all the things we want to do.

Stayed here on a trip and had an excellent experience. The rooms are small however they were very clean and modern. We used a hotel crib and it was clean and in great condition. The staff was friendly and the location is super convenient all things downtown. Would definitely stay here again.

My recent stay at Moxy Downtown Boston was unfortunately far from satisfactory. Despite its purported 4-star rating, my experience was marred by several notable shortcomings.Initially, upon check-in, the standard practice of providing a card for a security deposit, with the understanding that it would be withheld temporarily and not charged unless necessary took place. However, my experience took a sour turn when multiple amounts were withheld from my deposit, leading to unnecessary confusion and inconvenience. Upon checkout, I diligently settled the charges I had incurred during my stay. To my dismay, I discovered that an additional extra amount had been deducted from my security deposit without any valid explanation. now, two weeks after my check out, still I havent received back my deposit. Some of the front office personnel exhibited rudeness that was unwarranted and unprofessional. Their demeanor left much to be desired and did not reflect the level of service one would expect from a reputable establishment. The rooms were shockingly tiny and lacked basic amenities such as a closet or a fridge. This lack of space made it difficult to comfortably store belongings.Furthermore, the lobby area was smelling food(not in a nice way, heavy atmosphere) from the restaurant.Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of my stay was the malfunctioning air conditioning system. Despite multiple attempts to address the issue, the temperature control was erratic at best. The room would reach an uncomfortable temperature of 26 degrees Celsius before suddenly shifting to cold air, leaving me freezing and uncomfortable throughout the night. Despite repeated visits from technicians who purportedly attempted to rectify the issue, the problem persisted unchanged, while they were trying to convince me that this is how it normally works and that is a common practice for air conditions at hotels to shut down after they reach a specific temperature. In conclusion, while the location of Moxy Downtown Boston is undeniably convenient, offering easy access to various attractions within walking distance, I regret to say that this sole positive aspect falls short of compensating for the multitude of disappointments encountered during my stay. With issues ranging from rude staff to inadequate room amenities and unresolved charges from the security deposit, I believe there are better options available at similar price points in the central area.

We are big fans of the Moxy brand and have stayed at their locations throughout the Americas and internationally. That being said, we were taken aback by the blatant price gouging we experienced at the Boston Moxy location.“Cozy” room with creative space-saving amenities is fine. However, be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for said room with a $35USD “destination fee”. Luckily, as Titanium members, we were “upgraded” to the smallest 24-unit room with a city view. Don’t upgrade to this option if you don’t really really love being super intimate with your roommate. If you want anything other than a (free) regular coffee in the morning hours, the second floor bar will offer you a small decaf and specialty coffees starting at $6.43, beers for $13.80, cocktails starting at $17 and a teen-hand-size bag of chips for $5.Ask before you buy and avoid my 11pm munchies errors.

On the plus side of things, the hotel is in the center of the theatre district, which seems to be vibrant 7 days a week. It's also a great location to easily and quickly get to other areas of Boston you would want to go to as a tourist.Unfortunately, the rooms are tiny and they do not have a closet or drawers. You are expected to put all of your things on the wall of pegs they provide and/or dress right out of your suitcase. There is no desk to work from in the room and the only table they provide is a folding one...that is hanging on one of the pegs when you get into the room. There is also no fridge. Want free coffee that hotels normally provide? No machine in the room and you have go down to the restaurant only to get the worst swill ever. The bar/restaurant is nice aesthetically, but the cocktail menu and liquor selection is very limited and completely overpriced ($17) and served a plastic cup rather than a glass. The service was pretty good. Bottom line is that it doesn't feel like a hotel for adults but if your only in town for a few nights to be a tourist and the more traditional hotels are to expensive for when you will be there then this is not a terrible option.

The room has no closet but it’s very comfortable, the breakfast is fast and I loved the coffee. It’s easy to go anywhere from there.

Fun vibe. Rooms smallish but have everything you need including a white noise machine. No closet but lots of books on the wall. Bathroom clean and modern. Hotel is in a fabulous location; close to theaters and downtown crossing.

GREAT HOTEL/LOCATION -- QUESTIONABLE NIGHT STAFF!I often stay here when in town for work and love this modern hotel for its location, cleanliness, and relaxed vibe. However, I have had the unfortunate experience of arriving late in the evening and dealing with DWAYNE, who is almost always unpleasant and seemingly inconvenienced by having to check me in. Management should remind him of the basics of hospitality, and if he can't deliver, move him to another part of the hotel where he will be away from customers and unable to impact the hotel's brand perception negatively.

I am a fan of Marriott properties but not this one. My room was small even for a boutique hotel. No desk, no closet, no room for bags, low bed height, and one uncomfortable chair. Lighting was odd all over the hotel. The bar was ok, breakfast was good. Only redeeming factor was it's in the theater district. I should have stayed further out and used the T. Parking was awful as there is none. Bed was uncomfortable. If you are over 30 or a business traveler, there are better options. Will not select Moxy again.Stayed here in October 2023

Moxy? Gurl, where did you come from?Late night on the interwebs searching desperately for an AirBnB for a one night stay, I came upon a "room you don't have to clean". OK, fine. That works. It's one night......excellent choice, Brandon! The Moxy proved to be a wonderful choice. Walked in - modern and welcoming. Check-in is on the 2nd floor, don't be alarmed, it's all legit and good. Got our check in process complete and learned we had free drink vouchers and food discount vouchers - SCORE!The room was lovely. Tiny but lovely. We had everything we needed, the staff was wonderful. I'll admit the rooms are sound proof but we made the most of it and enjoyed the "company" of others. It's playful, fun, and accessible to so many great features of Boston - here for a night? This is a yes. And the bathrooms are fabulous. You can't go wrong with a tiny room with a fabulous bathroom - amirite?
