WARNING: STAY AWAY. MISLEADING. I was targeted on the purebarre app for a “deal” of a class pack after I went to my first class at the Harvard Square location. I had no idea I purchased a class pack at the Boston studio or that these studios were disconnected. I have the same email, name, phone, etc at both studios, but apparently different accounts???? There is no information on the app that you have to purchase for a specific studio, you just have to know this and your confirmation will be in the emailed PDF attached to your purchase receipt. I spoke with Rachel, the GM of Boston studio, who was *incredibly* rude and unhelpful and refused to refund me because I purchased three weeks ago before I went on spring break. May $300 wasted from me be your warning: there are many other work out studios in the Boston area, DON’T go to purebarre. Your experience (and frankly, workout) will be better spent elsewhere. Will also be sharing this review in the Harvard and MIT communities to warn all classmates.

By far one of the best Pure Barre locations! Everyone is so unbelievably kind and the energy in the studio and from the staff is always upbeat and uplifting. The manager, Rachel, is incredible and so helpful! There is also a wide range of classes and class times to choose from. Such a fabulous workout and studio!

Dear Dudes and Dudettes: Barre classes are for the brave. Ive waited to take each class form before writing this review. Barre's riddle should be:What weighs more: A ton of bricks or a ton of feathers?Ans: they weigh the sameHere are the general points:I've never been more afraid of stairs in my life. My glutes are shelfing. The smallest muscles shake.I'm not saying that I'd rather be waterboarded, but honestly these 50min classes are a journey. I can see why they say in 8-10 classes you can see results.I highly recommend going here.

I took a foundations class with Liza G and it was a wonderful 50 min class that felt more like 10 because of the energy , pace and her calming yet upbeat voice. She was gentle and encouraging with correcting my form while also motivating me. I loved the praises and hearing “great job !” I was in pain (the good kind ) but still managed to smile! The girls who also attended were super nice and fun too. Overall such a wonderful atmosphere ! Xoxo thank you purebarre for this experience (:

Great workout, the nicest most welcoming team. If you are in town visiting or live here permanently this is a must visit. ❤️

If you're willing to pay for a class or membership, it's always a good workout with a diversity of movements in one class to keep it interesting. Lovely studio space but my biggest gripe is that there is no water fountain so you have to buy water if you are really thirsty. Good camaraderie among the staff and students here but it can seem cliquey. Clientele here is on the younger side while the studio in Brookline for example, has a more diverse group. I've been here a few times without issue but recently came for a themed class, which started 30 min late due to the staff decorating the studio. That was a little irksome. Prime location!

This studio .. the happiness, energy and welcoming environment you feel before and after each workout is truly remarkable. So thankful to be a part of this! Rachel has been there since day 1 and is actually such a kind and beautiful person! So thankful for all the instructors that correct me every single class!

Now officially in the 250 club! I've been waiting for this day for a long time, especially because I lost one of my 100 club sock. PB was great to adapt to Covid, from reducing class size early on to quickly offering livestream classes. They initially offered livestream class through Facebook, and then set up its own website for recorded sessions. I've enjoyed the flexibility with livestream, especially I could take classes with instructors who I don't normally get a chance to! While I have been comfortable taking livestream sessions since Covid, it's only because I had plenty of in-studio experience, especially with modifications. I'd recommend anyone who is comfortable with going to studio take it in-person as opposed to virtual. The only thing is I wish the livestream is offered through Zoom. I talked to the instructors and inquired about Zoom as an option. However, because the class is so music driven, it's hard to get the correct microphone feedback over Zoom. The Boston studio is also located on the second floor of a building, slightly more tucked away than the Harvard Square location. It has two individual bathrooms and one changing room. Plenty of locker space and equipment for all. Before the pandemic, I've been here a bunch of times since you can take classes either at the harvard location or here. Now, you can take classes from any of the three locations: Brookline, Boston, or Harvard Square. Different instructors have different styles, and it will take you some time to find what's best for you. Angela is definitely popular here. I took two classes with Fiona, and loved her! I love Amanda, and am glad she is here temporarily for this summer! If you are brand new to barre, it will take you at least a week or so to fully adapt to its rhythms. The good news is they offer free Foundations class for new members, or you can always check out the intro class on YouTube to get a better idea on what to expect. The membership is not cheap, but comparable to other professionally owned gym or barre studios. They have membership sale from time to time (e.g., new membership for $99 for 3 months or 20% off of lifestyle membership), so definitely keep an eye on its marketing emails or social media and take advantage of that. I'd also recommend check with your work or insurance to see if you can get any partial reimbursement on fitness membership. Some other tips: 1. There is a 4-hour cancellation window, after that you will have to pay a late cancellation fee. If you are unsure of your schedule, you can always sign up at the last minute (if there is still room for the class). Also, be sure you are early or on time. Typically, you may be turned away if you are more than 5 - 7 minutes late for class, for safety reasons. 2. While some poses are hard, don't be afraid to modify them. Personally, I find myself better off without the weights for the weight section from time to time just to get the form right. Form over heavy lifting, as always. 3. Wear long pants! For top, I see a variety of sports bras or tank tops. While shorts are allowed, it is not recommended. Better with capri or 7/8 or full pants. Also, you can wear regular socks, but may find plank or other positions challenging. Most people have Pure Barre sticky socks (which I think is now $18 a pair). You can buy sticky socks on Amazon for a cheaper price.

The manager set up the contract incorrectly and would not delete and correct it. As a result, dates of membership, payment date, and number of classes were incorrect on the contract. I found that highly unprofessional. She kept complaining it was the software - really? I think it was poor management skills.

Knowledgeable and encouraging instructors, highly structured classes that always start right on time and a beautiful studio that’s always clean. I would have never thought I’d be willing to spend this much on a workout but Pure Barre is SO WORTH IT. The results are real!

Pure Barre is amazing!! I always leave feeling like I've gotten a great workout, and the teachers are great with encouragement and hands-on corrections. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a low-impact (but still challenging!) workout! Aside from the great workouts, the customer service at this studio is top notch. Rachel, the studio manager, is super responsive over email and phone, and she's been so helpful with accommodating my changing membership needs as I've moved, worked through a few injuries, and just had some general life changes. Everyone I've spoken with at the studio has been really helpful and seems genuinely interested in making sure their clients have the best possible experience -- they aren't just trying to sell you a service. Really great experience here and I plan to continue with my monthly membership because the classes and the overall atmosphere are so great!

I've done pure barre at the Boston location on and off but recently made a committed "come-back" to pure barre after having my first baby and it's been such a great decision. I hope this review of my personal experience helps other moms & expecting moms determine if pure barre is a good option, I myself had no idea how much motherhood would change everything! I had initially invested in a peloton bike for convenience once the baby arrived, but I now find that nothing feels better than getting out of the house and making time for myself to go to a pure barre class. Everyone is different but cardio/ spin just doesn't feel great with weak muscle/ core strength. After a difficult pregnancy and delivery, the pure barre method has been very effective in building back my strength & confidence and the community & studio experience is very empowering. There are events focused on pregnancy and postpartum adjustments, and the workout method while vigorous is low impact with a lot of modifications available while you build back strength. The first 10 or so classes were very humbling, but after 40 classes my core strength is back full force. Pure barre has given me the momentum & stress relief I need to feel like my best self. If you're new to pure barre- just put your ego/perfectionism aside and go to 10 classes, do your best with the cues and form. It moves fast but no one is paying attention to you. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It's evident the owner cares and coaches her staff on creating/maintaining a top notch studio experience. Angela's classes are incredible- I'm still improving my form and she can somehow teach a full class and still adjust me at multiple points. I seriously feel like I have a personal trainer in her. Rachel's classes are incredible- her verbal cues are brilliant and I have a lot of "aha" moments when I take her classes. My only regret is that I didn't go to pure barre while pregnant, looking back it would have been a great way to take care of myself and to have built the strength & endurance required for childbirth.

I was looking to try something new to ease back into regular workouts and this is the place to be! The staff are very helpful, fun and caring. Stephanie and Fiona are great in that their class structure remains the same while there are variations on exercises. We’re always doing something new each time. There’s a great encouraging environment and it’s definitely worth it if you stick to it and do your best!
