I’ve been buying Royce for a couple of years. They used to have a small stick in nama chocolate box for picking up chocolates but now they don’t offer it anymore. And the worst part is they’ve also raised the price.

Very nice shop with friendly and helpful staff. I bought some mango chocolate and macha chips. The chocolate here is simply the best.

Royce chocolates are some of my favorite things to bring back to the U.S. whenever I'm traveling in Japan. Their signature Nama chocolates, however, need to stay refrigerated, as they are soft, cream-infused, fudgey treats. Even though they come in cooler-like bags with ice packs if you ask for them, a 10 or 12 hour flight from Tokyo (not including transfer time to and from airports on both ends) is a bit much. So I'm excited to see Royce build a retail presence here in the States. I've been to their shops in Vegas and California, and I'm beyond thrilled to know that they now have a shop here in the Boston area, conveniently located on Newbury Street. Prices on the Nama chocolates are reasonable given the cost of refrigerated transport from Japan, and they also have shelf-stable items like pure chocolate wafers and even chocolate-covered potato chips. It's great to be able to get Royce treats here in Boston so that you don't have to travel halfway around the world to get them!

The chocolate was sooo good and definitely an eye opener, albeit also quite expensive. Had both the Ghana and champagne from the liquor series, preferred the champagne ones but the other one was also good. The only thing is the chocolate needed to be chilled so it’s not one that can easily be brought as souvenir back home.

Royce chocolate shop offers luxury sweets...I can't believe they've in my neighborhood since 2016... But I never knew it. The Japanese care as much about food presentation, as they do taste, and Royce delivers them both… perfectly!1. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and highly educated about chocolate… and Japan.2. The shop’s vibe is laid back, friendly and inviting.3. Their chocolate displays are minimalist, colorful, and organized.4. Their customer loyalty program is customer friendly.5. The backstory and history, of Royce Chocolates, is worth learning.BUT… let's hear about their amazing chocolate confections: highest quality ingredients; melt in your mouth; rich; colorful; intense; unique; gift-worthy; pretty packaging.THE DEAL: if you're looking for a gift, for the friend who has it all, shop here. If they like chocolate... they'll love ROYCE chocolates from Japan!

Japanese chocolate or sweets is definitely my fav type of sweets. Decadent and not overly sweet, rich and creamy in the case of the Nama chocolate (made with Hokkaido fresh cream) Melt in your mouth goodness.. My friend had gotten me their Nama Chocolate (strawberry champagne) and the matcha KitKat stick type snack. So delicious! The store itself is very cute and the sales associates will give you a mini overview of their story/history and let you sample chocolate pieces. They seem to have many seasonal flavors which is fabulous, from strawberries to kabocha (fall item). I want to try their liquor chocolates next. Many beautifully packaged chocolate/cookies sets in the store that are perfect for gifting. Whatever you get, Make sure to get a NAKA chocolate box!

Next time I have a gift to give somebody who already has everything, but also has an appreciation for really good chocolate, I will go to Royce' for Nama chocolate. I sampled three different kinds, and while Ghana bitter and the matcha are really good, my personal favorite was the champagne chocolate. This type of chocolate is like a truffle and needs to be kept chilled so be sure to buy it soon before you'll give it as a gift or when you are close to somewhere with a refrigerator.

Wow! I didn't even know this place was here until my friend told us they had the best chocolates :) I originally came in for a sampling and the associate who helped us was wonderful! She gave us some history about Royce' and we were able to try a few samples- my favorite being the milk chocolate bar- Their chocolates are much softer than typical chocolate bars-- Melts in your mouth like mousse! We bought a box of their memories of Hokkaido chocolates and was told that the Barton Cookies "kokutoh" was only in this box. Can't wait to try it all out!

After trying Royce's rich, creamy, yet melt in your mouth perfection, I don't think I can try any other chocolates again. The nama chocolates are 100! Even their dark nama chocolate balanced perfectly between bitterness and sweetness. How did they find this balance?!? Swiss chocolates are creamy but it's usually extremely sweet to me. So, while I do sometimes find satisfaction from a Swiss chocolate, Royce is next level. The word is wholesome; the taste was well rounded, it started and ended in a perfect circle of taste, texture, and sensation in the mouth. You must try it to understand it. I can't wait to go back! Did I say I'm not a sweets or chocolate person? They got me thinking about it the last 2 days since I've tried a piece. I'm a Royce addict and I cannot lie.

I recently received two boxes of ROYCE chocolates as a gift, and I can't express how much I loved them. The Ghana Bitter flavor struck the perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness, offering a creamy texture that left me craving more. It has officially become my favorite chocolate! The Champagne Pierre Mignon was a unique and divine experience. Infused with alcohol, it blended the richness of chocolate with the subtle and sophisticated flavor of champagne. Each bite felt like a luxurious indulgence, and I savored every moment. Not only were the flavors impeccable, but the presentation and quality were also outstanding. ROYCE chocolates are a true work of art. They melt in your mouth, creating a velvety texture that enhances the overall enjoyment.

I visited Royce for a Yelp event, unsure of what to expect. I was the first one there and got an entire history of the company and the chocolates available. The nama chocolates were my favorite: creamy, silky, fresh. I've had a lot of chocolate in my life, but these were next level. If you like your chocolate texture melty, I highly recommend the nama chocolate. My favorite was the Nama bitters, which was a perfectly blended mix of sweet and bitter. They have seasonal flavors and really cute gifting options. These would be my goto for gifts. They are delicious, bougie, and universally likeable.

The best chocolates I've ever had in my life, hands down-no competition. Was able to try at the Boston Wine Expo and immediately fell in love. Bought a box of the milk and a box of the bitter. This will be my go to chocolate store from here on out. Truly one of the best bites I've had in my 43 years.

I'm giving this place five stars because the execution is well done. However, these chocolates all have a kind of malted flavor which I disike. I don't know whether that is common for Japan or whether it is the signature of this place, but it is not my cup of tea. I would prefer to make my own chocolates or go to Gate Comme des Filles, which I believe has the best quality chocolates in Boston. Although the owner there is eccentric.

Japanese chocolate shop that specializes in milk chocolates.Royce chocolates have been one of my favorites chocolates ever since I tried them in Tokyo couple of years ago, and I was excited to find their store in Boston. Their soft texture is a huge differentiating factor from other generic or European chocolates, and although the prices are double what you would pay for in Japan, they were still worth getting. They still had a fence right near the entrance to limit in store shopping, so it was somewhat difficult to browse through their menu. Nevertheless, I will come back to get my favorite milk chocolates and their new flavors. If you’re a fan of soft chocolates, I recommend trying them out.

A must try if you are in the city. But be prepared this is not like European or American chocolate. The flagship is Nama that need to be cold but they are delightful. Nama is kinda like a light but very flavorful fudge. Especially the Tea and Champagne flavors. The whiskey flavor is nice if you like Scotch, not bourbon or Irish whisky but Scotch or mezcal as it has a strong smokey flavor. The staff was super helpful and they had plenty of samples.
