This bank allowed their customer to steal my daughters check and deposit it in her account and the check has me and my daughters name on it. This is the worse bank in the history of banks. There is an inside job going on because where in the history of banks is someone allowed to accept a check with two other peoples name on it and then the bank says oh the person who's account it is has to do a claim to say that wasn't their check when the branch manager located at another establishment literally pulled up their customers account and seen the day the check was deposited and also seen my daughters name on the check. The branch manager from another Santander stated how could the bank accept the check when the names of the check doesn't even match the account holders information. They also stated the customers account wasn't even open properly in Charlestown at this location, as she's receiving checks in her account and the checks don't even have the names of the people she's receiving it for on her account. That is FRAUD... I am baffled and thousands of dollars stolen from my child. Santander is the worst bank in America no other bank would have allowed this to happen. I'm pretty sure that the person who stole my daughters check knows someone who works at this bank in Charlestown and is helping her with this fraudulent activity, because the Santander at another location said that he doesn't understand how she's able to be getting these checks her name isn't even on them.

Please don't put your Please don't put your money in this bank!! My aunt ,who lived in Boston, used Santander Bank. She passed away in October. On the day we buried her , someone started to steal money from her account. It was very obviously fraudulent. They test the account by withdrawing cents under a dollar- then took out $5000. One time - $10,000 another until they got up to over $70,000. This whole time I'm calling Santander literally crying and yelling for them to stop it and help me!! It took a week for them to put a stop to this and freeze the account. ! It was all coming from the same account at Bank of America. Santander did refund the money after much more screaming and crying!! My back here in Kentucky has software that alerts them to fraud as soon as it occurs so they can stop it before it gets this far. I don't know it Santander has dim employees or they just don't care . I'm now in a long fight to get the freeze lifted and the money transferred to our Estate account, which is a mess in itself. IF YOU DO CHOOSE TO USE THIS BANK WATCH THEM VERY CLOSELY.

I had the same experience as the previous reviewer. I closed both a checking and line of credit account in 2012, but 1 year later, was charged an insufficient fund fee for the line of credit account that the Charlestown location had assured me they had closed. The Charlestown branch manager told me he would waive the fee, but apparently did not, then refused to return my phone calls. I finally paid the fee because I was closing on a house and didn't want this on my credit report. I then called the 1-800 number of the bank to change my address for my other accounts and while the call center staff was so helpful, they discovered that the checking account and line of credit account had STILL not been closed by the Charlestown location. Fortunately they were able to take care of it over the phone. Disgusting experience all around. I was a customer of this bank for 20 years, but have emptied my other accounts as a result. Avoid the Charlestown location at all costs.

Sovereign bank is dishonest as a matter of policy, with the intent of extracting money from your wallet, by whatever means possible no matter how shady. Beware of depositing money in Sovereign bank because you are effectively giving up control of your money to a criminal organization and the money is no longer your money it is Sovereigns money. Much like a ponzi scheme you will be lucky if you see your money again. To date they have strong-armed me for $125 although that amount will likely rise because they are cunning in their scams and even if you know they are trying to cheat you, you don't know HOW they are going to cheat you. For example, following an instance where Sovereign dipped their grubby hands into MY money without my permission, I decided I had to close my account hoping I would be free from Sovereign's reign of terror. Not so! THEY REOPENED MY CLOSED ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY PERMISSON AND PROCEEDED TO CHARGE ME OVERDRAFT FEES. Don't let them bury their hooks into you like they did me. You are the prey they are the predators. Don't be another victim.

This branch is nice. The people are nice. The location is nice. There's never a long line or wait or anything. Customer service definitely seems to be one of their strong suits at Sovereign. That's all I have to say for now. Good day to you, sir.

I have to admit...I hate banks..I hate going to the bank and anything that has to do with banks...but....I like to give kudos where kudos are due. Ive been using Sovereign for years both for personal and business. Recently on a Friday afternoon, I got an emergency phone call from a teller at from this Branch. She informed me that someone was attempting to cash a VERY LARGE check on my business account. Shocked at first over what appeared to be a fraud issue....I realized the time of day and to what extent this employee was going to to protect my funds. I want to applaud her for her exceptional work. Not only did she stop this person from robbing me BLIND but she followed thru with me after the fact. She guided me thru what I had to do after to close my accounts and reestablish my safety...but more importantly the few pennies I had in the bank. I have to commend her and the staff at the Charlestown branch for helping me out with this on every level.
