Patrick is the best! He has always helped me out when I've needed, and most recently chatted with a potential buyer for my car out of the kindness if his heart. Great work and great spot!

I needed emergency break repair because my front breaks were grinding metal on metal on rotors and I could no longer drive safely and without scaring half the neighborbooh with the horrible sound. They took me in right away, explained the issue very thoroughly and by end of the day I had my car back! The front brake pads and rotors had to be replaced, but they were able to save the calipers. Amazing customer service! Really appreciate the team for all the help!Services: Brakes

Patrick is the most honest mechanic I have met. He runs a good crew and provides a cogent explanation of what goes awry. Good mechanics are hard to find, but this place is a good place.

I had brake trouble I noticed just a couple days before traveling for Thanksgiving. Brought it in to West Cork the next day, Patrick helped me out and they were able to get it fixed that day (despite the fact that it was particularly busy), and at a reasonable price. Thank you Patrick!Service: Auto brake repair

I no longer trust Patrick of West Cork Auto. We first noticed a leak under the car about 8 weeks ago. There's a plastic cover under the engine, it was hard to see . I checked the engine oil every few days, the level stayed perfect. The transmission dipstick was inaccessible. So we took it in to Patrick, our mechanic of 20 years. "Needs an engine oil pan", he said, "checked all the fluids", he said. The pan came in and got done. Gave me a very high bill ($730), said it was because he had to move the motor mounts to get to the pan, oh, and by the way the transmission pan is starting to rust out. Bummer I said, did you check the transmission fluid. "Yes, I checked the transmission fluid" he said. For the next 25 days we maybe drove 500 miles. We thought maybe it was still leaking but it was hard to tell since where we parked there were already stains on the asphalt. I checked every time I drove, it wasn't getting any worse. The next day I got in the car and the transmission was slipping. Drove around the corner to West Cork. Joe put it on the lift, took off the plastic cover and you could see transmission fluid on the bottom of the corroded transmission oil pan. It was down 3 quarts. Joe had a difficult time unscrewing the bolt that held the dipstick, like this was the first time in 8 years that it had been removed. While I was waiting for Joe to have his lunch went on the web and called some other local mechanics. Transmission pan for my 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring 2.5L was going to cost me $400, similar what they would charge for an engine oil pan, they said. One mechanic said he could get it in a couple of hours and do it today. I rescued my car from West Cork but not before having to pay another $177 for an hour of labor and fluid. Took it to Abe's on Fresh Pond Pkwy in Cambridge and 2 hour later I was on the road. Yesterday I confronted Patrick. Told him he it was not true that he had to move the engine mounts to do the oil pan and he could not have, on 2 different occasions, actually checked the transmission oil, it would have been down. He put my car in serious danger of transmission damage. I asked him for a refund of 2 hour of labor for the overcharged oil pan and 1 hour of labor for refilling the transmission. Think about it, I said, you should value the trust people put in you. Get back to me. He never did. I will never trust Patrick again. I suggest that you don't either. Get him to give a firm price ahead of time. Check it with repairpal.com. Find a mechanic you can trust.

Patrick is a really nice guy and it's always a good sign when several of your local friends swear by a mechanic like him. I had an issue with a noise that was coming from one of my rear wheels after a brake and rotor job that was performed by another mechanic on a cross-state trip. Patrick took care of the issue in the span of a day and by sundown, I had my car back with the noise pinpointed and eliminated at a fair price. I'll be coming back to West Cork Auto in the future for maintenance and other car issues that arise. The hours make it easy to bring your car in early.
