Worst grocery store ever! Always out of basics, have to double check ever date as many times their shelves are stocked with expired food, and they closed down their deli tonight 2.5 hours early so that they wouldn't fail an inspection tomorrow. How this location or business in general stays afloat is beyond me. They are honestly horrible!!!!!! I live across the street and only ever go there if I run out of something- I travel 20-30 minutes to go anywhere else for groceries. Avoid at all costs!

Maybe a 1.5* Prices over the top, disgusting greed by this Holland owned company. I only go for emergencies, one or two items. But I want to talk about their Frozen dessert pies...Marie Callender's (Con Agra brands). I bought a last minute Frozen Dessert pie for an extra dessert on Thanksgiving, it was the Coconut Cream Pie. It was inedible!!! I mean throw the whole pie in the Garbage!!!, not fit for human consumption!! When using the term "Cream", that means cream! Not some chemically concocted, heart killing ultra sweet who knows what...cream substitute!! The gross taste is still in my mouth. It was a #10 on the sweetness scale? Maybe the Einsteins and food scientists who created this mess think American are stupid and we equate sweetness with real heavy cream?? You could not tell where the "cream" ended and the coconut cream started? it was like 60% gross imitation cream and 40% coconut cream. But it was not a cream, t'was another cross concoction. Without a doubt the worst pie I have ever seen...Maybe the rumors are right that some manufacturers are intentionally trying to make Americans sick? We travel a lot in Europe and their food, even in markets have a lot of integrity. We are an embarrassment to the World with many of our products banned world wide. And with the use of inappropriate and often dangerous chemicals you can't blame them!!!

Small store really for picking up something that you forgot at another grocery store if you live nearby. The prices of items are crazy, and the quality of food is not that great. I would not recommend going here to shop for a weeks worth of food or on a regular basis. Did not deal with any employees because the checkout lines were self checkout while some employees watched (which it probably would be quicker if they scanned items, it was a zoo in there). Overall one of the worst grocery stores I've been to, but the location can save you for an item you forgot to get somewhere else.

Writing this review because I sincerely hope someone at the establishment gets the message. The only reason I go to this stop and shop is because it is the most convenient supermarket by far on the East side of Southie. It is a small store so it is okay that the selection is more limited and the lines are long at peak times, but the stocking is really hit or miss for certain products. However the one most unforgivable things is the produce: 75% of the time it is rotten or moldy. It's seriously like this store stocks lesser grade fruit and vegetables than any other super market chain or location. So often the fruit is already growing mold on the shelves... that's not something I'm willing to take home. Managers please take heed. Whether it is sorting out the supply or cleaning the mold out of the refrigeration units please do something!

We we're staying at a seaport hotel and decided to stop by here for some essentials. It was our closest supermarket according to Google and from the Seaport area it was easily walkable. It's a cute little supermarket which definitely suited the vibe of south Boston. The selection was a little limited but we found everything we needed. The staff was also very kind and helpful. For example, when we realized we forgot something after paying, the cashier volunteered to bag up our things and watch them for us until we returned. Very nice service. The only thing that sucked was pricing. Gouge City! Really expensive, much more than any supermarket I've seen in the area. I guess it's the only game in town so they can charge what they want, but damn, they are really taking advantage of people here. Overall, 3 stars from me. They get the job done but be prepared to open up the wallet a little more than usual.

Hands down the worst grocery store I've ever been to. They sell meat that is expired and has spoiled on a regular basis. Don't go here unless you like paying for overpriced food that you can't even eat without contracting a disease. Just do better management. The employees, I will say, are very nice people.

Wilted produce with an unfriendly under staffed environment. Place smells like old bread and cigarettes. Prices are more expensive than seaport

It's never a pleasant experience going here or any Stop and Shop for that matter. The employees are often very unhelpful (probably to no fault of their own as they're likely not being paid or trained adequately by corporate). So many times I've gone in here and seen something on sale, used my membership card at checkout and it doesn't ring up. Then they have to get a manager (which adds to the already lengthy lines) to go check. This time I saw and read the sale sign 3 times to make sure and I almost took a picture of it figuring I'd need it at check out, but didn't feel like digging my phone out. Sure enough the manager came back saying it wasn't on sale, I went back after checking out because I know what I saw, and mysteriously the sign holder was now empty. She either removed it when she went to check or it just so happens an employee removed the sign minutes after I picked out the product. Regardless of price this is a very frustrating shopping experience, I'll be driving 20min out of my way in the future to avoid shopping here!

The worst Stop N Shop, nay, the worst grocery store in the state of MA, maybe even New England. Never stocked, when they are stocked the produce has already gone bad. Went over there to get iceberg lettuce the other day and found bugs in the packaging (pictured). Never ever worth going there. The employees are pretty friendly which is worth a star otherwise I would give this place 0 stars if I could.

This is one of the worst grocery stores I've ever been to. Went today and a ton of produce was out of stock. Onions were sitting in the bin covered in mold. The meat area smelled rancid. Time to find a new grocery store.

Was excited to move into an area where it's only a 2 minute walk to the grocery store however I'm now driving 10 minutes over to TJ's - this is legit the worst supermarket I've ever been to. It's messy, dark, the service is piss poor and all employees are constantly in a bad mood (except the deli), etc. Produce is overpriced and bad quality. For example the peppers are tiny and the opposite of vibrant and fresh. There's always things scattered on the ground in the aisles, the lines to check out are always backed up, there's hardly ever any hand carts available because no one moves them from the checkout back to the front of the store. It seems as if Stop & Shop has just forgotten about this location. Go over to Trader Joe's and see the difference. I will absolutely drive the 10 minutes to be treated well and have a good selection of quality items. .69c for bananas while the same, better quality organic bananas are .25c at Trader Joe's.

Yeah this is sad, they never have good produce or veggies or not enough. Very small compare to other stop and shops around Massachusetts(Boston area). There's never any sales, maybe they think Everyone in Southie is bougie and rich but a lot of things are over priced. I rather drive to Trader Joe's in the seaport or in Cambridge, shoot even market basket in Chelsea has a better selection. Long story short, if you're desperate yeah go for it but if have a choice go somewhere else.

This is close to being the worst super market I have ever been in. This is considering markets I've been to in 3rd world countries. Only difference with the 3rd world countries; the service is better. Now since I li I've within walking distance, I will go. I regret each time and would prefer taking a 20 to 30 minute ride to the Market Basket!

Since my review years ago the place has improved quite a bit. Staff is generally more engaging and the shelves are well stocked. Meat section is not the best though; we usually purchase meat and fish at K&8 nearby.
