I would strongly advise against purchasing an acoustic guitar from this particular store. There is currently no humidity control to be seen in the room housing their higher end guitars. A handful of those guitars are marked down as “scratch and dent”—do not be fooled. All of those “scratch and dent” guitars have cracks down the lower bouts indicative of climate issues in the room (ie. dehumidification and temperature changes) with several more guitars where the center seam on the top of the guitar is becoming visible (ie. they were/are also about to burst at the seam). There are other guitars in the room where the tops have visibly raised ridges along the grain of the wood. That too is not normal; that too is indicative of climate issues in the room.Given that Guitar Center is a large dealer of these instruments (Martin, Gibson, Taylor, etc.), one would think they would work with them to rectify the “issue”, but the fact that they are not doing so is indicative of the fact that the store caused the problem as opposed to something which occurred in shipping or even back at the factory. Can the guitars be repaired? Sure, an experienced luthier can fix most anything, but the cracks in most of these instruments are very sizable and thus will likely require intense humidification to reduce the size of the gap before the crack itself is cleated, glued, and filled. That is costly (as in the price of the discounted guitar plus the cost of the repair is equal to or greater than the MSRP of that model brand new…not to mention you now have to worry about a preexisting crack coming back for as long as you own the guitar), time consuming , and again, if this were something Martin, Gibson, or Taylor would cover under warranty, why wouldn’t Guitar Center simply take care of it that way? I know Guitar Center has been going through some tough times, but my gosh, do the right thing for your customers.

Great place to buy guitars, keyboards, drums, and many other instruments. The sales team there is great, and lets you browse and test instruments as you please. One of the few stores I still prefer to shop in person.

On December 29, I visited Guitar Center with the intention of selling my Vox AC30S1 and purchasing a new amplifier. While I had scheduled an appointment twice, neither was confirmed despite choosing the "contact me via email" and "notify me via SMS" options. Despite this, I decided to proceed without an appointment.During the evaluation process, the employee assigned to my case exhibited unprofessional behavior and used disrespectful language. Despite providing accurate information about the amp's model and condition, he repeatedly contradicted me and made unfounded claims about its value. His emotional response and aggressive negotiation tactics created a hostile and uncomfortable environment. While I understand that used equipment pricing can be subject to negotiation, the employee's conduct was unacceptable. Guitar Center should provide proper training to ensure all customers receive respectful and professional service regardless of their background or expertise.

Must admit it was overwhelming when we walked in, but staff was patient and helpful. My daughter is interested in learning to play with electric guitar, and it was nice to get basic info on starter models.

Seemed like almost all the gear there was pre-owned. Many of the instruments that were on display, for demo, were damaged or not working. And when I asked the guy at the center desk If there was a pick I could borrow to try out an acoustic guitar, he gave me a rude look, said nothing, and nodded his head over towards a bowl of picks on the desk. And the inner (expensive) acoustic guitar room had a huge water leak with a large trash barrel in the middle collecting water. So much for humidity control.

One of the last places to physically touch a good inventory. Other small shops can't compete with the on floor selection. Overall it has everything for any music needs.

I went in to see if I could sell two guitars I had that I was no longer using (one electric and one acoustic). I wasn't expecting to get any crazy amounts of money for them because neither of them were under expensive brands and one of the employees kept giving me attitude. For the electric guitar he claimed that no sound would come out of the amp when plugged into the guitar. The volume of the amp was clearly turned almost all the way down. He barely even looked at the acoustic one before saying a straight up no. He also kept calling me "kid" even though I am well into my twenties, and he kept talking down at me. I heard that POC have had issues with workers refusing help and offering bad business so this could also have been a factor of my poor experience.

I recently decided to trade in a few bits of gear for a new guitar. For quite a while I had been looking to upgrade my "second guitar".I am the proud owner of an original U.S. built PRS Swamp Ash Special.I was also fortunate enough to acquire a Korean Built PRS Santana SE.This guitar was an original 2001 model without the pickguard... This guitar was in great shape, and was as always with PRS-was extremely playable! This SE model also came with really nice sounding pickups....So I initially found myself hard pressed to trade in the SE, I finally decided to make a move..A couple days after Black Monday -hoping to miss the crowds,I took off for my nearest Guitar Center. This took me to Braintree,Ma. Any trepidation that I had was quickly erased by the staff here. Both Rich, and Bob (on loan from another store) were terrific. These guys made me feel welcome and appreciated immediately.Well...long story short I ended up playing around with a PRS SE McCarty model for about 3 hours ....After getting an idea of how close I was on an even trade(hoping to swap gear without money ),I realized that I was indeed getting a fair value for my gear....I ended up leaving with a PRS Hollowbody ,a guitar I may have never considered. These guys made it possible, and For that I truly recommend this Guitar Center. Thanks Rich,Bob and crew for a terrific experience.I will be up again soon ,and thanks for putting up with all of the hard work I put you guys through.Full Disclosure...I traded 1 guitar 3 mint pedals ,a drum machine, and 2 PA speakers towards this Guitar, and gave zero regrets. The pedals I traded were exotic and difficult to value fairly but I watched the crew jump through hoops to get me fair and proper value. For those wondering the pedals were as follows:A Digitech XP 300 Space Station,A Digitech Brian May Red Special Pedal, and an original Boss AC2 acoustic simulator. All dead mint .Happy Holidays All!

Earlier today, while driving home from Best Buy in Braintree, I decided to stop at your store. When I left the Army during Vietnam, I was a percussionist in a local Boston band, so I decided to stop and check out the percussion section. I first asked a man working at the checkout a couple of questions, which he ignored, so I returned to browse. As I was leaving, I wanted to ask another question, and with no eye contact, I was told that he would get to me in maybe an hour and dismissed me. On the way out, I asked who I thought might have been the manager and asked for that person's name, which I was told was Max; no last name was given. As a senior citizen, I was insulted and offended by his attitude and had to wonder if there was something else about me that he didn't like. I will be contacting corporate and possibly post this message on Yelp and I will find another one of your stores to conduct my business

After parting with my baby grand due to change in living arrangement, I started my shopping here for a high-end apartment-sized digital piano. I was shown and played one model, a Yamaha Arius. It was not at all acceptable, but I was left to myself with no one to show me other models. If you want a piano of any kind, best to stick with piano experts and leave these guys to their guitars.
