This review is around customer service - not quality of hair care. I have always had enjoyable experiences with haircuts from both of the providers I have come to over the past two years. Most recently I scheduled a haircut at the end of the day on a Friday. Throughout the week I was contacted three separate times about the "opportunity" to come earlier in the day. A few hours before my appointment, and after multiple explanations of why I could not come any sooner, I received a text message again inviting me to take an earlier appointment. I shared that I was beginning to feel like my Friday afternoon appointment was an inconvenience. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, I was met with very unkind, defensive, and unprofessional interactions from Meg at the front desk. This included letting me know she was the owners cousin when I attempted to give feedback and telling me "well everyone has kids and jobs, not just you" when I tried to explain why I couldn't reschedule when asked to. Some of the things she said to me had me literally sitting in the salon chair crying during my service, and in tears when I arrived at home. Rather than take it to the Internet, I attempted to give feedback personally and directly to the salon owner, but my attempts at asking for her to contact me directly were unfortunately not returned. If you want a decent haircut, this salon is a perfectly fine choice. But if you want to feel well taken care of, treated kindly, and have your time respected, there are many other options in the neighborhood.

Molly is an angel! She deserves a raise!Got a dye and a trim for prom, and she was so accommodating and awesome, even though I have super short hair and some of the clips and foils fell off.

I've been going to Pura Vida for years and love it. Taylor is my go to stylist and is amazing, but I like and trust everyone there.

ASHLEY B. IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!! Highly recommend especially for dark brunettes like myself wanting to go blonde. She is the only person I will ever trust to touch my hair with bleach EVER again!

I absolutely adored Jack and will be coming back as a regular customer. For a full set of highlights, (which I am usually extremely cautious about having previous stripy jobs done at other places) and jack really went above and beyond!! Reasonable pricing (I paid about $170/180 with toning included) and easy parking. (Only thing I might add to be helpful in the future is that the hair cutting cape things might need to be washed slightly more often as they did have a funny smell) Overall really incredible and can't compliment enough!

Very odd experience. Made an appointment and then had to cancel when my wallet got stolen while traveling. When I booked the appointment their cancellation policy wouldn't open, so I didn't read it (might have been my phones problem). I had made the appointment online so I selected a service that I guess wasn't what I actually needed without knowing, (I'm not a hairdresser..?) and the woman on the phone was extremely weird and almost accusatory of me for not knowing what I needed. Then she demanded I read her a card off so she can charge me $50 for a cancelation fee. Not having a card or being an idiot, that clearly didn't happen. Rescheduled. Today she called me 2 days in advance to re-confirm the appointment. She then said I had missed TWO appointments and all of the sudden there was a $100 down payment. Which seemed suspicious because if I missed another appointment (that I never had in the first place) and paid their cancellation fee it would be that exact amount. Needless to say once I said I would cancel and not pay I was very quickly hung up on. Get your hair done at AZ Studio in Hingham. I've gone there all my life and only looked into switching because I moved from Cohasset to Dorchester after college. Turns out professionalism and not scamming clients will always be worth the drive.

I've been going to Pura Vida for 2 years now and I've had a great experience every time (with Sam). The Salon is modern with an earthy vibe decor that feels welcoming.Now I really enjoyed my first appointment with Jack. He was super helpful in helping me choose what style to go for and gave me a wonderful haircut and perfect "baby" highlights. Made me feel very comfortable during the whole time and had a great chat. I'm looking forward to the next time!

Mackenzie is absolutely amazing! She completely revamped my mom hair- greys, torn out hair, postpartum hair loss. She is so professional and strives to get you the best results. I love my new cut and color. She tells you how to get your desired result. She makes me feel so much more confident in myself. I can't wait to come back and see her

Absolutely love this place! I got a cut and blowout from Taylor who did an incredible job! She listened to what I wanted (which was "I have no idea") and made my hair look incredible!Everything was also super clean. Taylor cleaned her stations after using them, all employees had masks, social distancing was enforced in the salon chairs, and hand sanitizer was at the front door.Can't speak highly enough about this place.
