Horrible service. The story just keeps getting worst. It is turning to a train wreck as I described in my previous review. They left a comment that they would like to help but didn't. I can't get a hold of them now no surprise, my taxes are not done, they have treated me like trash and I have been with them for years. Stay away from this branch. Im switching companies altogether most likely.

Terrible customer service and client management. Appointment was canceled 5 min after scheduled time and a walk-in was helped before us and sent to last available agent. We waited over an hour after being told the agent should have time for us soon. In the end, we talked with multiple agents who could not answer our question and had to schedule another appointment with a different branch. Should not be this hard to honor / manage appointments; simply asking the walk-in to wait a few min to make sure all appointments were set up before giving away a spot (as we were right at the hour mark) would have been much more appropriate. Also disappointing that tax advisors at this location could not answer a tax question — the second branch was able to resolve our issue almost immediately.

My experience was worse than there are numbers to give it. They did not follow any instructions. Told them not to submit without my approval. None of this was done. Went back to Mansfield office and they had already closed....before tax day! Went to Norwood office, was promised a refund of federal charges and they changed my address in the system. After another two weeks Went back to Norwood and they had closed. So I went to Brockton. Got the same promises and still no refund. I am waiting for three checks. One for original federal refund, one for overpaid taxes through unemployment, last one refund from H and R Block for this huge screw up. Will never go back. Anyone that can help would be so appreciated. Am now homeless , just had a full ankle replacement and am at my wits end.

It is surreal that their only business is tax returns and they managed to completely turn my return filing into an unmitigated train wreck of mismanagement. I cannot fathom how they are in business. Started my return in Feb 2020, the tax preparer went MIA around the filing deadline in July. Turns out she got COVID - but getting COVID 4 days before the deadline doesn't explain that they had 3 months to prepare my returns and waited until the last minute to start them. The manager told me that they would cover my late filing fees, they were very sorry, etc. The day after the filing deadline I woke up to an automated email the night before at 11:47pm asking me to review my return and submit within the next 13 mins. I called the next day and they said that email was sent by mistake, they would send me my returns soon. So a week or so later I finally get a copy of my returns to review, they look fine, and I clicked "submit" for the Fed return. A week after that they asked me why I never submitted, and I showed them the confirmation email from H&R Block saying that I had submitted my return, however they had no record of it. Three days of conference calls with their IT department later, it turns out it was a glitch in their system and they shouldn't have sent me a confirmation email. If I receive an automated confirmation email from a business, I should have confidence that XYZ action has been done. When I buy a plane ticket from Delta I don't call them to follow up and make sure that my confirmation number is valid. But apparently for HRB performing - literally - the core function of their business is a stretch. I had to paper-file several state returns, and they said they mailed them to me, but I didn't receive them. I called to follow up and they said the mail was probably taking a while, but....the returns arrived the next day with a postmark date of the date that I called to follow up. So they forgot to mail me my state returns. I got hit with a $1,700 late filing fee from the IRS b/c of their delay - H&R Block said they would pay this (and to their credit there was never any debate about this), but I needed to file an abatement request with the IRS. So I filed it, it got denied, and now I have spent a week trying over email and phone to get them to follow through on the $1,700 they owe me. Still no response. Basically, if H&R Block has owed me $1,700 since July 2020 it's as if I gave H&R Block a 0% interest loan for a year. Which is absurd. The stock market is up like 25% since July 2020, that $1,700 could've become $2,100, but instead H&R Block just sat on my $1,700. The manager is very friendly but it takes me over a week and several voicemails/emails to get a hold of her. I've invested probably 15-20 hours over the past year in following up with HRB. I wish I had just used that time last spring to prepare my own taxes, HRB made everything more complicated and created a huge headache.
