It's wonderful to have a market in my neighborhood. Especially for those who don't drive. The market was renovated years ago and it's improved. The managers are stocking higher end brands. Thank you. What I don't get is how many items that you don't carry. I joke around with friends that the market should be called Star Convenience. Don't go in the store with a list because you won't find your items. It must be tough to stock a smaller size market. So, what can be done? What is the most efficient way to request items that consumers want to see in the store? The market could be more targeted. For example, breads sourced locally, premium proteins and possibly an expanded organic produce area. It surprises me that lower end processed items take up so much shelf and freezer space. I think the managers and staff are awesome. The market is an anchor in the neighborhood. Managers are a very friendly neighbor. This post isn't very timely given our inflation and tough times right now. Signed, a very loyal customer. P.S. Can you stock vanilla Dove icecream bars in dark chocolate?!

This place has the worst customer service. I have been here 5+ times (out of convenience) and had a bad experience each and every time. The woman in charge of customer service is EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude. I just went to drop off a fedex package (it is an access point) and not only was she extremely judge mental and rude, but proceeded to ask me what was in the package because it was medical. Beyond inappropriate, intrusive, rude, and then raised her voiced and became snotty with me when I said that was personal and I couldn't answer that. It's a shame that the service is so bad because it ruins it for everyone in the store and other, good employees. Other checkout experiences have been extremely uncomfortable - I am very uncomfortable in this store.

Terrible customer service. Like not even the bare minimum. One worker was cursing and nasty and another didn't even say anything to me the entire time she was ringing my items. A third worker was singing in a really strange way in the middle of the store. This was really the weirdest experience ever.

This very small supermarket has a tiny parking lot and the physical store is small. The biggest drawback to me is the super narrow aisles. Being so small, there is not a huge selection Too small Not enough product. In the future I will go to the whole foods 8 or 1p blocks away or a closeby shaws.

This Star Market has improved so much in recent months. The cashiers used to be so grumpy and unfriendly but the news ones are now so friendly and nice. I don't know if they had a change in management but I really appreciate the new attitude!

My husband and I moved here 5 years ago from Louisiana. We are living just "down the hill" from this little grocery store. I come here every week to pick up what need. I find the selection to be more than adequate, the produce fresh and the meat dept has always provided good cuts. I have worked with special needs children in the past and love the fact that some of these amazing individuals are given jobs at the counters to help with bagging your groceries. I have to admit that Dennis is my favorite. He knows what he is doing and always has a smile and a helpful little tidbit of little known information. There is an older woman who appears to have trouble standing and can come across as "rude" but I think that is just the Massachusetts way. We all have our hurdles in life and need to be considerate of others. I love this little neighborhood store and pretty much all it encompasses.

Deserves no stars, rotten produce most of the time. They have no qualms about selling produce and other goods that have expired. If you try to return it or anything else they are rude rude rude. God forbid you don't have your receipt. Even if it is under $5, you would think they would have to close down to refund you--never an apology.I am 67 yrs old and have a good income but I won't throw away my good money and keep bad items. They used to refund you double with a liberal return policy, now they want you to eat the bad food! Rude old lady with blonde hair told me I drank half the juice....it was about 1/4 at most. What happened to the customer is always right? I asked if I should have poured the glass of juice I spit out that was spoiled back into the container. Bottom line, a real hassle to return with or without receipt. They must be desperate for money and I bet they will close. Rude customer service, poor selection, unexperienced and ignorant people in fish, meat and deli, seems they are always training people, can't they keep their employees?, and outdated and rotten items are just the tip of the iceberg. Find another place to shop. WF, TJ or Wegmans in CH. The Star up there is much better if you like Star. Anywhere is better than this place which back in my day was a wonderful little Stop and Shop.

The rudest "cashier" I've experienced in a long time! As I read previous comments, I now understand. The woman (older, black hair)is racist! I visited this store on my way to work totally out of necessity. I had another incident with this same cashier a few months ago and decided that I'm not going to spend my money in a store that has this woman as it's "face". As the cashier in this store.. she represents Star Market when she's behind that register! So I stop there on my way to work this morning...to pick up something for an office party. I grab my items and get in line. I observe this woman being as friendly as can be with customers ahead of me.. She gets to me...says nothing... proceeds to pretty much throw my items to the bagging area as she "rings them up".. then she decides to slap my receipt on the counter rather than in my hand as she did for the previous customers. I'm done. I will never visit this store again and will definitely discourage anyone and EVERYONE I know in the area from going there...

Even if this is the closest supermarket to you, please find another place to shop. First, the layout could not be worse. It takes way to long to find simple items, like ginger. Not to mention I very often find out-of-date items on shelves and am currently getting over salmonella poisoning from one of their bagged salads last week. When it comes to the cashiers, I frequently get charged for organic and/or pricier versions of items when I am clearly buying the regular produce. The prices here already aren't amazing and I can't afford to pay for items I am not actually buying since I'm on a tight budget. I don't know why this continues to happen so often. There is a woman who works at the flower desk area who I have never been comfortable around. Every single time I've visited while she is there I hear rude comments about customers and employees come out of her mouth. Last time she was bad-mouthing one of her new coworkers about the speed in which they were learning the ropes at this new store. Everyone learns at a different pace, apparently it wasn't good enough for her. This time she completely made up rules about how many bottles a women couldn't bring to the bottle exchange and was extremely loud and rude to her in front of all other employees and customers. I don't appreciate giving my service to people who I know will probably bad mouth me for no reason in front of other customers. I will now take the extra time to travel to TJ's down the street where the selection is better and the employees nicer.

sorry, but how do you have an individual running the seafood department that has no seafood knowledge. I asked the woman to skin my salmon and she said she didn't know how, but she could descale it, I declined but then she starts searching for the "descaler" and she comes back to me and says she can't find it....after I declined the service...

Was there around 9 am. The customer service personnel is the most racist, grouchiest person. There was a mistake in the transaction and our presence there bothered her. She fought everything we said. She needs to be retrained or at least not be working at customer service. In a diverse area like this location, you really can't afford to be racist and rude.

and the problems with this place continue to mount. I tried to make a small purchase but due to the incompetence of the cashier, my debit card was repeatedly declined. I immediately contacted my bank; they told me there was no problem with my card and absolutely no record of a failed transaction and that the problem was 100% star market's fault. They must have clicked the wrong keys for a debit card transaction. Prices are now more expensive than whole foods and keep rising, selection keeps getting worse, ALWAYS out of at least 1 item on my small grocery list. I only go there for last minute items and tonight was an epic fail.
