I had to start a new job and wanted to look nice on my first day. I entered Sanela Salon and kindly asked the primary hairstylist if they had availability for a men’s haircut and received a rude response, “No, we have no availability anytime today.” I glanced at the empty chairs - not a single customer in sight - and asked if she could perhaps squeeze in a short men’s haircut sometime today and received a curt “no.”
I like to treat people with kindness and respect and likewise find it disheartening when people go about their lives with a lack thereof. This is the first review I have written in months and I am not a perennial complainer but I felt an obligation to warn everyone about the rudeness and lack of kindness of the team at Sanela Salon.

Sanela and her staff are absolutely wonderful! I've been getting my haircut by Sanela for about a year now. After trying several barbers and salons in the Boston area, none came close to providing the level of service that Sanela provides. She is incredibly kind, highly skilled, and efficient. When I come home after a haircut, my fiancee can't help but just ogle at how great I look!

I just moved from out of state and found this salon based on the helpful reviews. I went to Helen and she did such an incredible job! She spent so much time walking me through what type of cut I’d like. I am so happy with my style and it’s exactly what I wanted! I will definitely be coming back!

I found my salon in Massachusetts. Moving from out of ataye, it took a little bit of time to find someone who knew what to do with my curly hair at a reasonable price. I ended up with a mullet from going somewhere else. As soon as I met Krissy. I knew I was good hands and she explained what and why she was doing every step of the way. I truly found my savior. And I finally feel like the hair on my head is a reflection of who I am and bring me confidence! I will not go anywhere else now. On top of all this greatness, they are reasonably priced and so lovely.

I stopped going to Sanela Salon last May.Although Sarah's cuts were excellent and the prices more than fair,I found Sanela Catovic to be aggressive and unprofessional.If a business owner believes that the world is an unpleasant place,then it's important to keep those feelings to herself and to share good will.

I have been a customer for a few years. I won’t be going back here. Extremely rigid rules for rescheduling!Some other reviewer below said it felt like mean girl experience. I felt the same.Update:even after following their policy of rescheduling more than 24 hours before (I did it 5 days before the appointment) they refused to reschedule and told me they would charge full amount because I was rescheduling it the second time even though it was 5 days before the appointment. It felt like they were coming up with rules on the fly to charge in full.In many years of being a loyal customer, I never rescheduled so didn’t see this side of the salon.Their response to feedback seems immature and unprofessional. Instead of trying to understand the problem and see how we can work together to resolve it, their response is to blame.Life happens and unexpected things happen. They clearly they care about money and not value loyal customer.

Helen did an amazing job with my haircut! I showed her reference pictures and she gave me exactly what I wanted. She was so attentive and made sure I was okay with the amount she was taking off. The hospitality and overall service of the salon was also amazing!

Some of the facts and assumptions that the owner of the salon stated in her response to my original review are not correct. I don't habitually make appointments for color without scheduling a blow out. I have gone to the same exceptional hair stylist since 2012 (an owner at a salon on Newbury Street), and she has always done a blowout, except for maybe four times in 11 years, when she's squeezed me into do a quick one-process color but didn't have time to dry my hair. Also, it's not correct that I booked this color appointment and "declined a blowout." The first time I went to Sanela salon in June (when my hairdresser was sick and I needed a one-process before traveling the next day), the receptionist kindly squeezed me and told me the stylist wouldn't have time to dry my hair, and that was fine with me. When I made the second appointment in October at Sanela for a one-process because my regular stylist salon was on vacation, I was NOT being squeezed in last minute. However, the receptionist didn't mention anything about drying my hair (she didn't ask if I wanted it done and she didn't tell me it couldn't be done). It also didn't occur to me ask because, in hindsight, I think I am just used to my stylist booking one automatically--or it's included in her service/price or something. I definitely assumed one was booked though and consequently came fully dressed up and ready to go to a work event in Boston straight from the hair appointment. I referred to this situation being caused by a "scheduling error," and I think that's a fair description. I can't know why the receptionist didn't ask if I wanted one when I booked my second appointment, and I'm sure it was an unfortunate oversight. But the reality is that this oversight put me in the bind of having wet hair and not being able to go to my event because I had to go home and dry my hair instead. I was indeed upset that I couldn't use a hairdryer. I had to be at that event in Boston and my hair was wet. How would you feel? I did keep trying to explain that it wouldn't take me long to dry my hair and that I had an event to attend in attempt to try to get them to see the the bind I was in. I explained I didn't have time to go home to dry my hair, and I said I couldn't believe this policy because I had never encountered it before. I wasn't rude to them, but I was flustered and upset that I would miss my event. The manager didn't offer any solutions and only justified the policy, which was invalidating and escalated the situation, so I told her I just wanted to pay and leave. There was no point in continuing to have the same conversation over and over. This brusque and dismissive reply to my original review is the tone that is set in this salon. If something doesn't go right, expect to be treated like you are the problem. There is no accountability or care or concern. And this is why my husband (a former regular client) and I will not be returning--and why I'm taking the time to write an accurate review of my experience at this salon.

As hair dressing is not in my professional pervue, I came here hopeful and excited. However, I was met with a cold, belittling attitude from the stylist. Mocking tones, derogatory comments, this salon gives you the real Mean Girls experience! I was counting down the seconds till I could leave.

Great haircut. One of the BEST cuts I've gotten in a long time. Corey is a genius!! And the price is very reasonable. I'm very happy with Sanela. Also, I should add that I'm a guy with pretty good hair, so I usually go with a decent salon rather than a traditional men's barber. Sure, it's more money. But the cut lasts, and grows in beautifully.
Again, Corey deserves a raise if you ask me!! She did a fantastic cut for me(and I can be a bit picky) & it's growing in beautifully. Thank You Corey!! Kudos to Sanela Salon!! Keep up the amazing haircuts everyone!! Can't wait to see you again soon!!!

I got the BEST haircut / blowout / style i’ve had in YEARS here!! SHOUT OUT TO CORY - she hooked it up!! also the vibes were immaculate, it felt really nice and clean but also super welcoming and the very sweet lady at the front made me a delicious cup of iced green tea ? great time, 10/10 recommend!

I love Sanela Salon, especially Sanela! My hair is thick and wavy…very hard to cut…but she makes it look gorgeous every time. Her staff is always helpful and kind, and the products used are not harsh, staying fresh for weeks at a time. I am always pleased when I leave, and look forward to years ahead with you, Sanela!Service: Haircut
