Always shop at Big Y.Recently went to deli and asked for Rare Roast Beef, didn't need to be in sale. Partially blind, took deli worker at his word. Far, Far from rare when I got home. So very disappointed. Groceries are so very expensive. So to get less than what you pay for is so hurtful. Was really looking forward to a Rare roast beef sandwich. At least my dog is happy. Looking for other options. If there wasn't a paid employee helping me I wouldn't be sooo disappointed

I am not one who typically leaves reviews on yelp but I was and am still upset by how I was treated at this location. This has been my only grocery store my entire life with no issues. Two weeks ago I was checking out and had an issue with scanning a feminine product. Big Y associate Anna Marie came over and began punching in numbers to fix the problem. Not that anyone needs to know my personal business I am a transgendered woman. She asked me who the product was for and I explained it was for me... she blatantly laughed at me and couldn't believe it. I have never felt so embarrassed in my life and cried in my car. There are laws to protect against discrimination. I reached out to Big Y corporate and have received no response after issuing a formal complaint. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau and report this incident.

Other than the prices being higher than the competition I don't have too many issues with this Big Y, but what I will say the people who work behind the deli move SO SLOW. The line only gets backed up because the people slicing the meats and cheese are moving at the slowest speed possible. And God Forbid they need to go to the back to grab something..each step takes 3 mins each smh

In this country, racism exists in professional and personal lives, there's no doubt about it. 14% of the US population says racism is not a problem in the country. Stopped by the Big Y on Memorial Drive in Chicopee and the staff on the sales floor was overwhelmingly predominantly "white", I didn't see any negative attitudes or behavior directed towards the two "black" customers doing their business. Either the members of the Big Y staff are extremely talented thespians or....Granted, the weather was nice so the shoppers didn't come into the store with the "terrible weather syndrome" in effect. It wasn't very busy, either so the service wasn't hurried at all.I was suitably impressed and actually enjoyed my shopping experience.

The Memorial drive location is by far 1 of the racist places I've ever been. From works following you around to the dirty blonde with thick glasses and a nasty attitude staring you down while you WITH CASH. I ABSOLUTELY ENCOURAGE PPL OF COLOR TO SHOP ELSE WHERE. LOOK at the reviews on Google way to many saying the same thing for EVERYONE to be lying. Shop where you and your money is not only appreciated but welcome. Memorial drive is NOT THAT for anyone of color.

Big Y has always been my go-to market as a convenient, community minded business with a website that facilitated my shopping process. It was way better than Stop & Shop's. But they have recently changed the website. Whoever thought this was an improvement was only looking to increase customer exposure to products they do not want. I have always created my shopping list directly from my personal list and their flyer. Now this is not only more difficult it is almost impossible! I'm sure the web designer knew what they were doing, as they removed the email link from the website. The only contact method is a phone number. Very few people are willing to go through an automated phone systems to leave a complaint. Big Y has lost a real competitive edge. It will no longer my first choice. I will be looking for the best price as both major supermarkets in my area have websites that serve their needs instead of the customer's.

Don't shop here if your darker than a snow flake. Employees are rude and don't acknowledge you ESPECIALLY if your NOT white. Seen them help and interact with whites just fine so leaves me to conclude they don't want brown people in their store. That's OK....it was too 'COLD' for me anyway.

I love the Big Y chain in Massachusetts. Always clean and great selection. The aisles are wide and makes for an open comfortable shopping experience. I really enjoy option to grab fresh hot pizza by the slice or a whole pie. It's not a grocery store pizza; it's hearth cooked and absolutely delicious. I had a sausage Stromboli once too. It was huge and equally delicious.I highly recommend this grocery chain. It was also easy to register for the savings card and just key in phone number for future visits. I also really like that this company does not offer plastic bags and charges for paper bags which encourages you (and helps you remember) to bring your own cloth bags. I can pretty much find all my essentials here...except edamames. I am not sure what gives, but it seems to be a greater than Big Y. I cannot find shelled edamames (one of my favorite at home snacks) at any of the Big Y's that I have visited between Chicopee and Holyoke. I have also been to Walmart and BJs looking for the same. I have not noted anything else I would normally routinely but not available at Big Y. Again it's my favorite in the area!I come from Florida where all you really have is Publix! Big Y is way better overall!

They over charge on most items, especially in the Southampton store. Greed!
