I booked a 7-seater SUV through my AAA membership more than 10 days in advance for a planned trip with my family. To be absolutely sure, I even visited the location one day prior to confirm the vehicle. The staff showed me the exact car and assured me it would be ready for pickup the next day.
However, when I arrived at the scheduled time, they told me the SUV had been given to someone else and that they had no other 7-seaters available. Their only suggestion was to take a 5-seater, which obviously made no sense as we had seven people traveling.
What made this even worse was that they offered no alternative solution or compensation. In a similar situation, Enterprise once provided two 5-seaters for the same 7-seater price, showing professionalism and customer care. Hertz, on the other hand, didn’t even try to help.
Because of their poor management and lack of accountability, we had to cancel our stay and several other bookings, losing a significant amount of money. This experience was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional.
I would strongly recommend others to avoid this location, especially if you’re booking a specific vehicle type. Their promises mean nothing, and their customer service is completely unreliable.

Don’t know why there are so many negative reviews… rented a car for NYC for 4 days through AAA. I got a great discount. Hertz staff were professional and informative, on questions I had! Would rent a car through them again!

Called and the phone rang for 25mins, no one answered. I instead drove there, once inside, one of the female workers was on her personal phone having a personal phonecall on speaker phone. No wonder why nobody answered the phone, they care more about their personal lives at work. Next time, I will rent from a place that actually has workers that work.

Fairly thrown together Hertz location with the basics covered and an average staff. At first when we arrived having pre booked a car we were quickly handed the keys and a pamphlet with all the booking info. When we went to the car and popped the trunk an amazingly powerful smoke odor poured out. It was unbearable and we walked straight back inside. We were told all of the cars are smoked in and come back with very strong smells. Thankfully someone came back early with a fairly new Kia K4 with ~3,500 miles on it. It didn’t have much of a smell at all in it and we were able to switch without issue. When we walked back in with a concern another agent chimed in and was pretty defensive though. She didn’t know the situation and made our experience worse.
We have a high status with Hertz and only had to rent from this location because there was an issue with our reservation changing after booking. When we landed in Boston we had no car and were told it would be more than double to book another one.

I looked up a car rental on a third-party a.k.a. Priceline, and found a car I wanted. After attempting to book it and filling out everything, Hertz alerted me that they no longer had a matching car. That I’m OK with. So I went back on and looked again, and I found a car through Thrifty. Unbeknownst to me it’s the same office. This time I didn’t get any prompt telling me not to bother wasting my time and I stopped looking for cars and my wife & I went all the way down there. We walked in, waited our turn. I gave them my confirmation number and they told me they had no car despite this. Each of the people working there gave me an expression letting me clearly know that they couldn’t have cared less about my time. I will never go again. Stay away from this place. They Couldn’t care less.

After reserving my rental ahead of time, & confirming the morning of my pick up day, I received a call 2 hours before my pick up time that they had no available cars except electric.

Terrible experience at the Dartmouth location. The car was filthy. The customer service terrible. I rented a car through an a insurance claim and was mistreated, belittled.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! RUN AWAY FAST!!!!!!! Nobody gets back to you and there is no way to get anybody on the phone... I was recently over charged for rental dates... the car was returned to the auto body business ( as I as told I could leave it there) and hertz did not pick it up for approx 2 weeks... NOT MY FAULT... the car was not in my possession and they are charging me for it. I have called, emailed & went into the North Dartmouth MA branch and there have been crickets nobody is helping what a messy business. Now i am getting a letter from an attorney! Really!!!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!! There are other rental car places...

I had a horrible experience using Hertz Car Rental in North Dartmouth! I reserved a vehicle that I was going to use to travel on a family vacation. The reservation was for Saturday morning. We arrived before our scheduled time to be met by absolutely no one! The doors were locked and there was not a single person to be found, other than other unhappy customers dealing with the same problem. The office should have been open until 12 p.m. and I was left with nothing, and I had prepaid a portion of the fee. After speaking with a representative at the corporate office, I was told there was nothing they could do! This was a Saturday so there were not many options, luckily I found enterprise car rentals in fall river to still be open. They got me a car immediately and my vacation was not fully ruined! I was extremely disappointed in this facility.

I guess they decided that people who made reservations today weren’t important so no one ever showed up to open the place. Had to cancel my reservation last minute. What a waste of time.

My review comes months after I’ve rented a car through this location, but I have to say I’ve always had a great experience at this location. The employees are very accommodating and have always taken care of me.
