I want to start this review with saying that my parents have brought our pets to Animed for years and I recently brought my cats to Animed and have always had a great experience with Dr. Salter. The staff has always been pleasant and Dr. Salter is cool, calm, and informative which is why I was so thrown by todays visit. My dad brought his dog in today for the first time, a pit bull. A very happy, gentle, NON AGGRESSIVE, pit bull. We used to take him to VCA but we don’t always have a month to wait for an appt. Anywho. I listened in on the visit. He was seen by Dr. Martinez who was very rude and dismissive. The staff seemed to be really concerned about his temperament and whether he was aggressive before even seeing him. (Poor pitties are always judged). They asked if he would need a muzzle for the visit. Further into the exam, Dr. Martinez was down right condescending. His tone was very off putting. For example, he questioned why the dog was on grain free food. We explained that it was suggested by VCA because of loose stool. His response was “I highly doubt they told you that.” Yeah because I like to buy my dog 100.00 dog food just because….? Just seemed unnecessary. He was seen for his issue and sent on his way. No aftercare instructions. No follow-up for a full exam. Nothing. We will not be returning. It’s not hard to be kind.

I’ve had my dog for about two weeks now , previous owners had used this vet for her since she was a new pup. Apparently they have a previous balance and when calling to receive my dog’s rabies shot info being her new owner they refused to give it me until the previous owners pays their balance. I can’t get her groomed or anything without proof of rabies. They told me she can get the Shot again. Sorry they owe you money but that has nothing to do with me and I still need to take care of this dog. I was planning on going to this vet but that won’t be happening due to lack of care and compassion for my dog.

Awful vet. Went there because he works with the rescue, for heartworm treatment. My dog wasn't shaved for shot 1 and not kept for more than 15 min for a reaction to an arsenic containing heavy duty medication. He refused to send me home with pain medication. When I called to ask why my dog would be panting and pacing they shrugged and said they never heard of a dog doing that. I found out later this can be a sideffect of prednisone. Then, a week before shot 2, they called to cancel because they sold the practice! Why would they even start us with the treatment? Highly unprofessional. The doctor is rude and the staff not much warmer.

My dog was extremely sick for a few days and my family and I wanted to take him to get checked out. We called and asked if there were any openings to get him in, they said no, didn’t even ask who my pet was, and when I told them his symptoms and if they thought I should take him to the Emergency Vet, they responded with, “I don’t know, if that’s what you think.” I ended up taking my dog to the Emergency Vet a few days later where we found out he had DCM (Dilated cardiomyopathy) and was in heart failure. We sadly had to put him down that day and he was only 5 years old. I’m extremely upset over their careless behavior they seemed to show here over my pet. The least they could’ve done was ask who my pet was or lead us in the right direction.

I took my dog here for heartworm treatment. Although the treatment itself went well, they sent her home on two medications that should never be prescribed together (which I was later told by vets at Angell). I called Animed to tell them what the vets at Angell told me and they were very rude to me and basically said- thank you for your concern, but it is not a problem. And when I tried to object, they got even ruder. I would not recommend this vet and will not bring my dog back.

This was our first visit to Animed Pet Hospital. My husband and I brought our kitty Mittens in for an ingrown toe nail. I was so impressed with Dr. Salter and his assistant Gretta. They were so kind and gentle with Mittens. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. I will go to no other veterinarian now that we found Dr. Salter.
