I really love SDVC for both small and large animals. Everyone is nice, and exams are more thorough than at any other place I've been to and never feel rushed even though they are busy. I also really appreciate that they are happy to give suggestions for different things to try first rather than going right to medication for things like allergies. Thank you all so much. <3

Even if you cancel 3 business days ahead of an appointment, front desk refuses to refund $75 office visit fee.

My Dogs are patients at this clinic. My little dog was injured with a punctured wound and a scratch wound. He was in pain and traumatized. He needed antibiotics and pain meds. I called and was told he could not be seen for a week. Did not matter to these people that he was a patient and needed to be seen ASAP.. This is just unconscionable. It was not like I called a vet cold to get my little guy in. He was an established patient! They did the same thing to my cat a month or so ago. He had a hurt paw but was booking weeks out. Would not see him. They want u to go to ER hospital where clients will be over charged by hundreds or thousand of dollars. A friend took his young cat there and when was all done his bill was $4000!My friend’s Vet recommended we take him to Waschusett Urgent Care hospital in Westminister as they had had good luck with this facility. We called them and got aSame day appt. It was well worth the 1.5 hour drive. My little dog was treated with kindness and the best of care. He got his antibiotics and pain meds. All done at a reasonablefee for an emergency. The hospital even called the next day to see how he was doing. I would not hesitate to use this facility again even with the distance.I can say unequivocally that Dr. Schmidt never treated established clients like these new owners do. A sad day when he retired. It is very upsetting when u know u r an established patient but when u have an incident they refuse to see ur injured/sick animal. Time to find a new Vet! Not a fan of these Vets!

This clinic came highly recommended. We are new to MA and needed a new vet for our 12-year old Cocker Spaniel Mix. While not close to our home, it was worth the trip. From the person who originally made our appointment to Corey, the tech, and Dr Cole, everyone was professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. I felt confident that my senior dog was getting excellent care.

I went with a friend who was bringing their pet in. The staff was so friendly and caring. They took their time during the exam and were very thorough.

The clinic is way too expensive. I went in with my sick cat. After all the tests they did it cost me $988.. I felt that was way too much. Maybe $600 might have been more like it. But the minute you walk in the door it was $200. I waited for 3 hours. My cat had an upper respiratory infection. I don't think I'll ever go there again.

❌BEWARE!!!❌This place and these HORRIBLY UNDER EDUCATED “vets” KILLED my 3 YEAR OLD YORKIE!!!! 7,000$ later and treated her for a ALLERGIC REACTION, she WAS IN KIDNEY FAILURE!!!!! THEY are STILL ASKING ME FOR MONEY after they KILLED MY DOG!!!! Never again!! Stay clear of this place!!!! Don’t ever make this your first option. Seriously, they have NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Literally took 4500$ from me and my kids, four visits later and then SEND US TO TUFTS HOSPITAL WHEN THEY KNEW THEY DROPPED THE BALL…. How dare you STILL CONTINUOUSLY send me a BILLS, if it wasn’t for YOUR VETS, my dog would be ALIVE!!!!! Too little too late…. Smh…. It’s a shame.

Our pets have bee in going here for a few years after our vet retired. This was the only office accepting new patients. The reviews were bad. I believe people get them mixed up with the hospital next door. NEVER have I had a rude staff member. This office CARES about your fur babies! Our beloved beautiful cat Tris got sick overnight Sunday. I didn’t think much of it until Tuesday. We were able to get an appointment on Wednesday. The emergency hospital said they MIGHT be able to fit us in but we have to call from the car and wait until there is anEMERGENCY opening which comes at a higher cost. They also required a 2500.00 hold on credit card for all the testing they would do. We waited for our vet at Deerfield Vet clinic. Dr. Clay was amazing and nurse Riley treated Tris like she was her cat. Over 2 days they found her problem and sadly no amount of money in the world could save her. They only did the tests they NEEDED to diagnose. Sadly we had to put Tris down. Dr. Clay made sure she found out what happened to Tris so we would know. Sadly I have put many pets down. Dr. Clay and Riley gave us plenty of time to say goodbye. We were not pressured to do this or to rush. They explained that yes she was in pain. I am pretty sure the office was closed but we weren’t rushed. They made sure we had all the time we needed and answered our questions. I wish we didn’t have to have this experience, but with extremely broken hearts I am so grateful for the entire staff and especially Dr. Clay and Riley. Tris came first!! Not a credit card on hold BEFORE they would see her! Losing a pet is traumatic, but being told money first and then wait and we will see if we can squeeze you in is crazy. I have used the emergency hospital 4 times ( 3 to put beloved pets down) and one was with a friend who had same experiences.. credit card FIRST! We are so thankful for South Deerfield Veterinary Clinic at 30 Elm St! If we had chosen the hospital we would be about 2500-3000 in debt and the outcome would be the same. Like I said I have put 3 beloved pets down at the hospital and definitely felt rushed 2 times. Because time is money and they needed the room. I encourage others to give this office a try and to make sure it’s this one and not the hospital ( which I agree we need more of them, but we need compassion too)!

Had to euthanize my best friend of 19 years 2 days ago. The staff was wonderfully sympathetic and compassionate. I cannot thank them enough for going the extra mile with calm, dimmed lighting, extra tissues and even Hershey kisses as a extra, "we're so sorry." They made one of the hardest days of my life a little more bearable and I will be forever grateful. They are all angels in my eyes. Thank you.

This is my first visit here, reestablishing care for my 14 year old cat. I am absolutely thrilled with the service, knowledge, and kindness of everybody at the South Deerfield Veterinary clinic. I can't say enough good things about how gentle and thorough they were. On top of that, the visit was incredibly reasonable in terms of cost. I would recommend them without reservation.
