Saturday afternoon, during a 3 day weekend, we had an unexpected, serious, incident with our 4 yo CordiBoi. He had a large gash under his armpit, of unexplained origin. His skin was cut down to the muscle, with the silver membrane showing. What a shock! Chaos and confusion and concern took over. What do I do? How did this happen? Do I wait til Tuesday?(obviously no, was the only clear answer) from.the moment I called, calm took over. The receptionist took all necessary info and got us right in. The vet tech was also very calm and thorough. Dr Glauberg was amazing. He asked all pertinate information and clearly explained every thing that needed to be done. From anesthesia to surgery to wound care. I felt relived our boy would be in good care. My baby boy is home tonight where ge should be, like it never even happened. Maybe the worry is part of being a pet parent. I would like to sincerely thank the team , for providing complete, expertise, and thourough care to our innocent, dependant, family member, who is well on the mend. Thank you everyone for taking care of the pet parents too!

I can not speak more highly of Dr Berg and the rest of the Zoo Exotics team at Cape Code Veterinary Specialists. When my regular vet Dr Lord @Oceanside Animal Hospital (also amazing) found abnormalities on my hedgehogs X-rays she referred me to Dr Berg and CCVS and I am so glad she did. The exotics team not only expedited our appointments due to the urgency but were incredibly kind hearted, patient, honest and treated him like their own beloved pet. This included recognizing when recovery from surgery was being hindered by stress and that he should go home early with special instructions. Veterinary care is expensive and my hedgie's care was not cheap but it could have been a lot worse both in cost and results. Everyone from reception, to radiology, to Dr Berg herself were incredible and it was worth every penny to know they were taking the best possible care of my boy and although we aren't out of the tunnel yet, we can see the light and can't be more thankful to CCVS.

My name is Kendal, I was an employee at this hospital before moving out of state. Every staff member is amazing. I miss working here! The team felt like a second family, even being the quiet one of the bunch. Anyways, I recently learned my family cat, who my Mother looks after in this area, is missing. I called them to see if anyone has brought her in, and I spoke with a lovely lady (probably going to misspell her name) Lorelei, who answered my phone call almost immediately. She was so kind and caring, and took down all of my information and said she would be in touch if she hears of any news. I wanted to write this review to let everyone know how wonderful this hospital is. The phone call just made me miss my Dennis team so much. I hope you all are doing amazing. Sendings hugs to all my friends who still work here. Xo, Kendal :)

The new exotics department at this practice is AMAZING. Dr. Berg and her techs worked hard to save my guinea pig Leo’s life. They are so communicative, sent twice daily updates including photos during his stay, thoroughly answered any questions I had, and provided very in-depth explanation of his condition. This team will always be my first choice for my exotic pets. Leonardo says thank you <3

Dr Emily Ulfelder is the most heartfelt and compassionate Veterinarian I’ve ever had the privilege to meet. I’ve had many dogs in my lifetime with a few good Veterinarians. She surpasses all. Dealing with an older dog with an age related illness is heartbreaking for most of us. I feel beyond fortunate and blessed to have her expertise, warmth and genuine understanding at such a difficult time.

The doctor was knowledgeable, but I have a 13 year old dog that had aspirated pneumonia. He was sent home. No meds for pain. He was uncomfortable and didn't move. A second trip to them for meds. Also, He has heart disease and high bp and is on meds. Also, the receptionist was professional, yet not approachable. My vet is waiting for the x-rays. The receptionist, C said "she has payroll to do, people called out. Clerical will come last." My vet is WAITING for the x-rays in order to triage. She's a gem.

Really very grateful for CCVS; when my dog woke up this morning, he was very lethargic and for the first time in his whole life, he didn't wag his tail; it just hung there. It was very alarming and I thought up all sorts of nightmares.CCVS answered the phone immediately on the weekend, said I could bring him in immediately, and everyone there from the receptionist to the nurses and doctors were unbelievably kind.Ultimately, it wasn't an emergency - he had "swimmer's tail", essentially a pulled muscle from too much wagging! The doctor I saw suspected this immediately on seeing him but did due diligence and checked for a lot of other possible conditions before confirming her initial impression. When I later read more about swimmer's tail, all the literature said the doctor should do exactly what she did, which was comforting (and impressive!). I felt very relieved and confident when I left. The price also felt very reasonable for same-day, immediate urgent care with a team this talented. Thanks so much - I feel much better and I know my dog will soon too!

When my dog couldn’t stop vomiting and multiple doctors couldn’t figure out why she couldn’t stop, Dr. Carvalho at CCVS did not stop until she figured out what was going on with my dog. She got me a day of appointment with a neurologist, did multiple tests and medication trials until finding the right one. She is the best doctor I have ever gone to. All of the staff have been incredibly kind and caring and communicative while we kept coming back to the ER over a 3 week period to get her better. I’m so grateful for the amazing communication and care given to my pup. It was expensive but I knew she was being taken care of while she was there, and I appreciate the staff giving the estimates up front all the time before doing anything. Thank you so much for helping Winnie get back to her normal self!!

We had a very positive experience. The staff and veterinarian we saw were kind, and compassionate. They took the time to speak with us and explain to us the situation in a clear and articulate manner that we could understand.

This vet refused to give a simple test (lyme disease) for a dear friend of mines dog. They either offered a $5000 kidney flush or dismissal of the pet. He took him somewhere else the next day expecting to put his furbaby to rest but they completed the simple test (which tested positive) and are able to treat the dog.How can a practice not willingly administer a simple test but rather suggest an insane prodecure first without one?

I was referred here by my vet for some tests on my 4 year old kitty Loon, I’ve never really had a bad experience at any vet in over 30 years, today was no different. The staff here was absolutely phenomenal, caring, compassionate and thorough. Loon is in good health, I am relieved and in awe of this facility. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your kindness and compassion.

I just called this place and like some other reviews wrote, they gave me the HR answer.... "we obviously can't know until we see her, it will also be a 1-3 hour wait, and it will cost $250 flat rate." I hung up. I called VEG Boston. They will consult with a vet and tell you if you need to bring your dog in or not on the phone. If you are wondering if your dog needs to see the vet or not, I recommend calling VEG Boston before bringing your pet to this practice. It feels like they don’t care about your pet and just want you to pay a fee before even telling you if you should be there or not. There's likely a 1-3 hour wait because they don't save anyone their time or money and just tell everyone to bring in their pet. A place I'd never bring my pet even if it were an emergency at this point.

During the holiday season of 2022, I received horrible news that my best friend of 10 years had a mast cell tumor behind his eye. I can proudly say because of the great team here that he is cancer free!It took me 3 veterinarians to find someone I was comfortable with. Never once did i feel as though this was transactional. Everything was about my dogs health care. Moreover, I was very pleased with the pricing through the process. We utilized the funds available to best treat his needs without doing more or less than needed.I was very nervous, as this was my first surgery with any animal I had. I can not express how great the whole process was made through every staff member here. I must have called 20 times, and I was never let down with their comfort and expertise.Dr. Ulfelder is a highly skilled and an overall amazing surgeon. Being that the tumor was behind his eye, it was in a very sensitive spot to remove. She was able to get all of the tumor removed and not affect his blinking whatsoever!Thank you so much to her, especially, and thanks again to the staff.

I honestly believe that the staff here love animals, but I'm sorry to say the positives ended there on our visit. Our dog needed emergency care, we called ahead and were told a visit would be 1-3 hours. We drove there and were told it would be 5-7 hours. Those wait times didn't bother me, what bothered me was how we were spoken to - you are treated as less than human and spoken to with the type of "HR speak" that is so uncompassionate it has no place in an emergency setting. The staff kept repeating themselves, interrupting, and wouldn't let us ask even simple questions until I finally had to ask them to "speak to us like we're humans". Eventually we went into a room for our dog to have her vitals taken. The front staff came in to have us sign paperwork and apologized for how the previous conversation went - that turned out to be a non-apology that went on for over three minutes without me being able to ask a single question. When I did get to ask if we'd be charged then, or once we would get to see the vet, I was interrupted once again. We handed them back the clipboard and walked out.I appreciate anyone who cares enough about animals to have an emergency clinic. I appreciate that short-staffing can cause long delays. What I find unacceptable was how the staff here lacked any compassion, refused to answer questions about even basic appointment matters, and interrupted us repeatedly to the point that we felt out dog would not get the care she deserved. If you can't be in a stressful environment and still maintain compassion, you should not be working in an emergency medical field. To anyone looking to come here, save yourself the stress and uncertainty, drive to the emergency clinic in Plymouth instead. It was a night and day difference for us.

Yall are awesome. My cat was acting strange and I couldn't figure out why so I brought him here and they discovered he had a eaten something and it was stuck inside him. They talked with me through all the options and how they could help me in anyway. It was a super rough night for my baby and I and they helped find the problem, start the next step and were super compassionate. I can't thank you enough, you guys saved my kitty. Zoot had surgery last night at the buzzards bay location and is already home and recovering with me. Know your pets are in good hands with the people here❤️
