Eastern Bank has NO leadership to get basic problems solved. I've been a customer for years and they have made a lot of bad policy changes that have added up to NO customer service.

Public Service Announcement - Don't be swayed by Yelpers who ONLY leave negative reviews for businesses. Local business plug: I've been looking forward to saying this for a long time...after 25 years with Bank of America (via Bank of Boston, Fleet, etc), I finally made the switch to a local bank, in my case Eastern Bank on Depot St. In Duxbury, MA. It all started when opening a simple passbook savings account for my 7 month old daughter. After waiting to be helped at BOA for 20 minutes, I walked out and decided to give Eastern a try. Two days later my daughter gets a handwritten thank you card from the Branch Manager at Eastern and the next thing you know they have all of my business! Saving, Checking, Mass Save HEAT Loan and soon a HELOC. Banking with people who truly appreciate your business, greet you by name when you walk in, answer the phone when you call, and support our local community is so refreshing. Plus, they have every feature the big banks have - iPhone app, mobile check deposits, online bill pay, free checking, fraud protection, no ATM fees, etc., but without all the big bank hassle. If you have ever thought about switching, I encourage you to go talk to Marie DiCenso at Eastern Bank on Depot St. You will be so glad you did!

DONT TRUST THIS BANK. My husband and I have had multiple issues over the last few months. Most recently, our account was frozen due to "suspicious activity" on a Friday evening without any phone call or notification. We only found out because we tried to use our debit card and it was rejected. Upon calling customer service (our only option because the branches close so early) we were told they couldn't help us over the phone, or give us any information about said suspicious activity. Leaving us without access to our own money and completely in the dark. When we called the branch the following morning we were informed that the branch manager who froze our account the day before had gone on vacation and would not be reached for weeks. I have been a customer of several banks and have never had a problem like this. Being told there's "nothing that can be done" when it comes to our own hard earned money is appallingly inept on Eastern Bank's part. Needless to say, we are closing our account and going elsewhere. I suggest you do the same.
