I have never been treated so poorly in a store especially in a place like Martha’s Vineyard, where hospitality is expected. My friends and I walked into Rags with the intention of purchasing a long necklace. From the very beginning, we were being closely watched and judged. One of the staff members made an inappropriate comment about my friend’s body, saying something along the lines of, “It must be so nice to be that skinny to wear a necklace around your waist.” That type of comment is unprofessional, invasive, and completely unacceptable.
While we waited for another friend to return from a nearby store, one of us continued to try the necklace on around her neck and waist. A staff member offered to hold it, and my friend politely declined, stating that her friend was just around the corner. In response, the staff member abruptly and aggressively ripped the necklace out of her hands which was shocking and completely uncalled for.
As we were getting ready to check out, another woman from the store said, “I would really decide if you want to buy that because it’s $50 and there are no returns.” At that point, I decided not to spend my money there. The entire experience felt judgmental, rude, and hostile. We were made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable from the start.
I’m 22 years old, fully capable of making my own decisions, and I walked in ready to make a purchase. Instead, I left feeling disrespected and dismissed. The staff’s treatment of us was condescending and unnecessary. I do not recommend shopping at Rags.

The ladies at Rags are the best. They have amazing clothing and great prices. They were very helpful providing my wife with options that were spot on. Barbara was honest about what worked and never pushed to make a sale for the sake of a sale. You feel like an old friend the minute you walk through the door. My wife wanted everything in the store!

Love this store! Great selection of cute clothing and accessories! Just bought 2 dresses and jewelry last week! Reasonable prices compared to other stores in Edgartown… Highly recommend!

Have some young blonde working there who is so rude and unwelcoming. I got out of the store as fast as possible so I didn't have to have anything to do with her. The two older ladies were much kinder, that's the only reason they get two stars.

My friend and I were in the store looking for a present for my mom. I was tired so I sat down on a chair and I was eating my ice cream while my friend held up options for the present. An employee came over, told me they don't allow food and then took my arm and my friend's arm and physically pulled us out of the store. I understand I was in the wrong for eating in the store and would have removed myself, however, my friend didn't have food and was a potential customer. Also, there were no signs that said no food or drinks allowed in store. I've never been treated with such disrespect.

Walked into the shop today wearing my Gretchen Scott tunic, hoping to purchase another. This shop no longer carries Gretchen Scott. Was told my tunic was "so yesterday." Later in the day, I received many compliments on my "yesterday" tunic. Not coming back to this store. Loyal Gretchen fan!

This is a lovely clothing store. The customer service was friendly and helpful. The clothes were terrific. Filled with familiar brands but not at insane prices. Some of the brands they carry: 525 America - great knitwear Dizzie Lizzie - lovely dresses that are appropriate for vacation and work Gretchen Scott - great dresses for play They also have a great selection of costume jewelry. If I lived here, I would be a regular.
