Today, I regret not being able to share an experience with the residents of Martha’s Vineyard. As a lifelong islander, I have attended the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and Oak Bluff School.
On June 20th, I purchased an item from an individual who claimed to be the manager on the phone. Despite my providing my tracking number and invoice, the individual denied receiving the package and stated that security reasons prevented the inclusion of my name on the package.
I have since contacted the post office multiple times, but the issue remains unresolved. While I understand the importance of security measures, I believe that the tracking number should be matched with the package’s information.
Furthermore, the individual’s lack of professionalism and inability to handle the situation effectively was unacceptable. I am concerned that such behavior may reflect poorly on the entire post office and discourage potential employees.
If you are considering working at the Edgartown post office on Martha’s Vineyard, it is essential to prioritize customer service and professionalism.

Ridiculous that this town has no mail service. My drivers license got suspended because the usps failed to deliver a summons to show up for a speeding ticket which they didn’t receive my payment for because of the mail.

Never have any issues here. The lady at the counter is always very friendly.

They would not deliver mail with the correct street address. Nor to the PO instead. Mail sat in a pile until I called to have it returned to me. It was very important. Such a wealthy island has such terrible service? Odd.

If I could give this experience zero stars I would. For context it is late July about 80 degrees on the island and I chose to make a 3.5 mile bike ride to this location I walk in albeit a bit sweaty in a sports bra style crop top and a high waisted tennis skirt, an outfit I had worn to the gym, the grocery store, to get coffee...really anywhere. I shouldn't even have to justify myself here. But the fact that I ran in quickly to grab a package that the office did not drop at my address in the first place and was verbally assaulted by the clerk who told me next time I came in I needed to wear an "actual shirt" out of "respect" was absolutely ridiculous. It is 2022 clearly I had been exerting myself prior to stopping by and spent a total of 5 minutes in the establishment. Absolutely ridiculous treatment of a young, polite woman by an older woman in a year where women have come under enough scrutiny. Do better next time, and I pride myself on not apologizing. This isn't a five star restaurant it is a post office.

Tiny & tucked into the back of a souvenir shop basically right where a number of busses load & unload people coming from around the Vineyard. It'd be pretty easy to miss if you aren't looking.

Attitude is everything. It's taking a long time. The only attitude we can control is our own.As long as my attitude is good... The circumstances don't really matter.

Nice staff, always helpful, doing their best to deal with all of us.

Nice people but it would help if they didn’t mark your package as delivered when you have to wait an extra 1-3 days for them to actually find it.

I put up with this absolutely atrocious behavior that I both witnessed and personally had to deal with from Keith all summer and fall...but I have had it with him. This man needs to be fired. No one likes him, and he clearly doesn't like anyone, or he wouldn't treat others with such consistently gross disrespect. I have never seen someone so rude in customer service. He yells at people for no reason, immediately begins an interaction with aggressive demands or ultimatums, and he TOOK ONE OF MY PARCELS AND DIDN'T PUT TRACKING ON IT. When I asked him about it, he said that it would, "hopefully find it's way back to me". Is this a joke? That is -not- legal. Today, he refused to help me after taking down a tracking number because I said, "Whatever" in response to his rude-as -usual comments. All of this verbal BS from him, and he can't take one lets-move-it-along whatever...just, wow. How's that fragile white male ego treating you outside of work? You know it's not actually legal for you to refuse me service like that at the post office? Oh, and way to continually abandon your coworkers while you're out back smoking cigarettes. Not to mention fail to find parcels that people are missing and being incredibly impolite about it; and then passing that work onto the sweet young lady that has the misfortune of working beside you--whom REGULARLY APOLOGIZES FOR YOU to customers. She should not have to do any of that. If you hate people so much, Keith, then get out of customer service. We don't want you in it anyway. I feel bad for anyone local or not that has to or has had to deal with him. I'm so sick of hearing him talk down to people, be passive-aggressive, heck--aggressive-aggressive, lazy, unhelpful, entitled, and just verbally abusive to folks. Keith, people--despite what you have literally said to us while you are on the clock--are, on the contrary, entitled to your help. However, while the post office is essential, you aren't. You are actually incredibly disposable as a poor excuse for an employee. Good luck, I doubt you'll be working there much longer. In the meantime, make sure you wear your mask PROPERLY. I know you hate people, but please, try not to kill them, okay? Cheers, mate.

This post office isn't great, and it's sad because the post office in the town I recently moved from was great! They are known for not delievering packages (even small ones that fit in the mail box) and also not dropping off the yellow pick up slips. If you ever order a package you'll have to go pick it up and the employees working at the post office are not very pleasant. it's really unfortunate

This post office is notorious for laughably bad service. Though there are one or two pleasant staff members, the overall ethos is one of a seemingly deliberate desire to be unhelpful to customers. An older employee (who is possibly a manager) is unfazed by disappointed customers when packages cannot be located, or appear to be lost. In such situations a minimal effort is exerted to attempt to resolved the issue. Granted this location is perhaps no more than a sad reflections of the overall state of the US Postal service, but nevertheless it is dreadful on every level.
