20 years ago, he put me in 9-1/2's. Recently, he talked me into 10-1/2 narrow sneakers and 10 narrow golf shoes. Over the past 6 weeks, I've been back to see him several times as the shoes are causing pain. He said my feet need to "stretch out"(funny since I am barefoot must of the time) and I should continue to wear them. I've played 15 rounds of golf and still have pain. He refused to remeasure me or take them back.

Very good customer service. They are attentive to the person's gate and how the person's foot hits the ground. If you need very comfortable shoes that fit correctly this is the store.

When I first visited Proper Fit back in 2019 my feet were in pain. After being measured I found out I have been wearing the wrong size my whole life. The pain is gone thanks to beng educated on proper footwear. My teacher feet can't be happier!

The owner doesn't listen and interrupts you by stating "you're going to learn something... I'm going to teach you...." He tried to convince you that all your problems are from your shoes being 2 sizes too small. There are 2 other reviewers that had The same experience. I'm now searching for an actual podiatrist.

This place is the very best and I don't say that lightly. This gentleman knows shoes and feet inside and out.

Unbelievable experience. I wore arch supports for 35 years. I went to see Dick and he fitted me and I haven’t worn the arch supports since. I will say it takes a few weeks for your feet to stretch out. You have to be patient. Once they do, all the aches and pains disappear. I honestly can’t believe how much better I feel.

I wouldn't even give this guy one star. I've always been and 8.5 shoe and medium feet. He tells me I'm a 10 and narrow feet. I've had orthotics in my sneakers for the past few years. He tells me "It's my job to help you with the feet God gave you and you don't need orthotics. You just need a sneaker that fits properly." Ok I was skeptical butt went with it. Coincidently around the same time I started getting sharp pains in my heel. And even worse I had pain in my arches a few hours after wearing them even while driving. I go see my pediatrist who I trust foot wise over feet than a guy selling shoes his whole life. He really should retire. I've got plantar fasciitis and back in the RIGHT size shoe with my orthotics. Don't go there! Plus he charges you for a "fitting fee." The shoe store I went to (and always had before I decided to try this nut job was Savon Shoes in Warren, RI). Funny (not really I guess) is that BOTH my pediatrist and Savon Shoes are familiar with Mr. Johnson at The Proper Fit for NOT properly fitting people.

I had Plantar's Fasciitis for over a year. I had no improvement from multiple trips to the Podiatrist. My Physical Therapist recommended A Proper Fit. I was only able to get over it after going to see Dick Johnson at A Proper Fit. He measured my feet and put me into an entirely different shoe size than I had been wearing for most of my life. What an amazing difference and now I am pain free.

I cannot say enough good things about my last visit. I also can’t wait to see the results that my proper fitted shoes bring me.

Shoes are worth every penny and adjustments are at no cost. He sits down an examines your feet to fit a proper custom shoe unlike your average shoe store they're usually more fashion than perfect fit an functionality.

A few years ago I was diagnosed with Morton's Neuroma, a painful condition affecting the ball of the feet in which nerves between the toes become damaged. The condition eventually worsened to the point where I could hardly walk more than a few yards without severe pain.

He fitted me with proper shoes and continues to make adjustments to them. Plus he's a very nice man.

You need to try these shoes and their unique fit for more than just 2 days. My feet even LOOK better never mind Feel better. He will solve your problems with foot pain and discomfort. After 2 weeks alone you will only want to put on the shoes he sold you. I had to give up 64 pairs of ill-fitted ,uncomfortable shoes and i do NOT regret it at all. Now only the proper size for me !
