We interviewed with this organization, met one of the dogs and expressed strong interest in adopting her. We called several days later to check on the status and were told one other family was seeing the dog and a decision would be made by Friday. We never heard back and only learned that the dog was given to someone else when we saw the organization’s weekly newsletter announcing that the dog we wanted had been adopted.During our search for a dog, we have come to appreciate the small courtesies that some organizations offer the humans they interact with. This organization does not appear to offer those courtesies.

This organization is staffed with knowledgable, caring people. You may not get a dog as quickly as you would like because they check your references and make sure that the dogs are ready to be placed in a home. If you are reading reviews from years ago, the staff has changed and the process is very people and dog friendly.

I've gotten to see both sides of FFD staff. A majority of them are caring, helpful & genuinely concerned for your Dog's health, but I've gotten 1 mean lady who's also a board member for FFD thattold me they weren't going to help me, because I was "keeping my dog ALIVE AGAINST Vet recommendations"!!! NEVER EVER could I do such a thing to ANYONE, nevermind my own dog. Our dog's are our RESCUED CHILDREN that WE PERSONALLY went and RESCUED from abusive or neglectful owner's & have been very spoiled kids since! They wouldn't give me any assistance due to that misinformation & wouldn't call our vet. It took 3 days to get someone else from there to call our Vet & get the CORRECT info. Throughout that time the woman was rude, nasty & very unprofessional. Even though it was completely FALSE & personally got told that by our Vet. The woman didn't even have the decency to apologize for mistreating me & continues to be with any contact I've had with her even years later. She shouldn't be working with the public, especially any parents of animals in NEED of getting their animals treatment. The rest of the staff is absolutely great.

You know I would recommend anybody going there and bringing home a brand new fur baby the people that work there are volunteers they don't get any money from the town they do all but great things I brought donations into them I've brought dogs at a strain to them and they found them homes I busted a dog for them and just recently one of my dogs had a horrible toothache the months I couldn't come up with the money and they helped me out and now I have my happy dog back I couldn't be more pleased with them thank you again

Many years ago my family adopted a dog there. We had our beautiful fur baby for 8 years (she was approximately 3 or 4 already) . My husband and children had to meet her prior to adoption. The ladies made an appointment to come to my home to see where she’d be living and to see her interaction with my Maine coon (love at first site) for Buckwheat ( my cat) . They asked a lot of questions on our experience with dogs and told us about her breed in more detail. I truly appreciate the care and love they have for the dogs and also to potential doggie parents. I am shocked by the negative reviews. I highly recommend the Falmouth dog pound.

When reading reviews for Friends of Falmouth Dogs please read the most recent ones first. There has been a change in the management and the staff is always changing. Things are so much better at FFD since the new director took over. We live in Falmouth from May to October, Florida November to April. Our own 14 year old dog passed away last year. We decided to foster dogs from FFD for the summer in order to get our "doggie fix". We have had at least weekly contact with FFD and have found them to be caring and loving to all of the dogs. They are professional and do a complete check of potential adopters. Just to be foster dog parents we had a check with our vet and a home visit and extensive interview. I recommend them highly.

Dropped off a lost dog here, couldn't find his home anywhere. He followed us from Seascape and apparently he was seen tied to a bike in the morning at Old Silver beach; went back and no one recognized him so the only thing I could do was drop them off. I asked the shelter ladies to take my number so that they call me when owner showed up, which apparently there was someone looking for him and they wouldn't take my number, not even a thank you , not very friendly people working here . Hope the owners find his doggie back and

These people are great. They really care about the dogs and take the time to find them good homes. And their annual dog calendars are adorable!
