I rarely complain about anything, and am very understanding, especially these post-pandemic days, but this was just absolutely ridiculous. I have AAA, and Hertz is their connected company for discounts, etc. I made an online reservation for 3 days for a compact car. Paid upfront for the extra insurance, received a confirmation email, etc. With full faith, I went to the location at my designated pickup time. The place looked like something you would expect that's running a questionable operation out back. A strange guy was sitting backwards behind the counter that never said a word. No idea if he was an employee, or a vagrant, honestly. One woman was working. She finished with the previous customer, as well as took 2 phone calls, and I was patient. Let her know I was picking up an online reservation. She came back a few minutes later with a set of keys and says "well all I have is this commercial econovan." I was speechless. I'm a 5-foot tall disabled woman in her 40s who needs a small car for a brief in-state trip. I immediately started to panic, and so my husband took over, asking what the point of making a reservation is, and why they couldn't alert customers beforehand that there is an issue. This girl offered ZERO empathy, sympathy, or any kind of solution. She had an "oh well that's your problem" kind of attitude, not even an actual apology. If the corporation cannot make sure their online reservation system is cohesive with their actual location inventory, that is also a HUGE problem! So ultimately I blame the company as a whole, but the clerk's attitude in this situation was disgusting. Either take care of your customers, or find a different job.

I reserved a car, but when I got there to pick it up, there were no cars. I was informed that there were no cars to be had at any of the rental places. If there are no cars available, why do the process rental applications? Fortunately, getting a cancelation and refund were easy. Thank you, Priceline!

My honest review of my experience with the Hertz on Whalon Street location in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, is below.Please read the details below.After reading a few reviews, I need to share my experience. I rate this location 5 stars! A+ to this team!The leadership team and management have been accommodating, and I've never had a single issue.My review weighs heavily because of some of these great team members, "Ceira" & "Kevin" and "Paul." They are always welcoming, organized, efficient, and attentive to detail.Ceira is always available to answer my questions and remembers all my preferences. My experience with this location - never an issue! Everything is always reserved and set up seamlessly. She's an outstanding representative; she always listens and pays attention to details.Paul Paulini is a person who's always behind the scene, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing vehicles for the next customer—a huge thanks to this team.I hope the Hertz Corporate office reads Yelp reviews because it's essential to identify you're rising stars. Does Hertz Corporate recognize employees with service awards?Paul Paulini is a person who's always behind the scene, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing vehicles for the next customer. I was supposed to have a rental waiting for me while my vehicle was being repaired. An appointment was set up, Hertz showed up over 35 minutes late and without the rental. Stated they were going to give me a “ride” back to the main location to set me up. Horrible experience, wasted time and gas.

Be careful! Take reservations days before, then don’t have the car. Honestly looks like a front. Hertz corporate doesn’t do anything to help, leaving you stranded. Oh, they will help make a new reservation that costs more than twice the original.

Good place to get a rental car. Good rates, have a good selection of vehicles. Very clean cars. Quick and easy. Friendly and professional staff.

Needed a rental car for four days. We received a complete dump. Every single seat was stained, multiple warning lights on, and customer service was not great when we returned the car. Don’t waste your money here!

This was the condition of the rental car we received from this company. Very single seat was stained, it was beyond disgusting. The tire pressure was low and they claimed they had filled the tires with air and that tire car just needed to recalibrate...4 days later the light was still on. The customer service when dropping off the car was terrible and the inside of the store was a dump. Do not rent from here!

I made a reservation a month ago for my rental. I was suppose to pick up on 12/20/22 at 11a & I got a call stating that the car wasn't there yet. I spoke to a female employee a few times & she never told me there would b a credit check nor how they work. She told me they would call me when the car was ready. They called me 2hrs before closing & I was out of town because I found someone to help me & give me a ride to run my errands. So I wasn't able to get the rental on 12/20/22. Went today 12/21/22 to pick up my rental & when she ran my credit she said I needed a credit card & couldn't use my debit. Which by the way had the amount in full. After my mom passed away this year, I was really looking forward to being around family. I had to cancel my trip to see family for the holidays. I've never rented from Hertz & after this, I will never do it again & I will never recommend!!

Cool and very understanding staff . I hit a deer and totaled my car months ago , and the staff have been so gracious with me as I’ve been renting with them. All 3 plus the car maintenance man are very nice ! Definitely recommend!

I reserved a small sedan online with a cost of $122.26. When I went to pick up the car the next morning (date of rental) I was greeted by a lady who was to assist me. I asked about the managers special and was given an answer. I said I could've done that. She charged me $223.58 (unnecessary ins added) for a car she wanted off the lot. It have a deep scratch down the driver's. I rented it for 1 day no return. So now someone else can take care of that. Enterprise had no availability. The least she could have charged the managers special price instead of the Cadillac price I paid. 4 days later I go through my email and find that my reservation is out of time. I have been taken advantage of and robbed. Thank you

This place is an absolute joke for an establishment! Horrible customer service and the employees are coached incompetent and while lazy if an added benefit. I rented a vehicle back in May 2022 and was charged an extra day due to an employees mishandling of the car keys and not processing my rental return on time. When I originally arrived one of the employees Maurl(Rep) who was slumped over in his chair appearing like he just rolled out of bed couldn’t locate my reservation and decided to upgrade the vehicle claiming the class I requested was not in stock. If you have to deal with this rep at the Fitchburg location buyer beware. I’ve gotten so many run arounds with the time frame of my refund it’s almost comical at this point. Kevin (Manager) is another story. Took almost a month to reach out and the excuses became so many as to why I was not refunded he just stopped responding back. What kind of manager has the employees making lies and never passing him the phone when I call. I can understand a few times not being in the location but how about over 15 times during a 5 month stretch? Does he clock in and disappear for the entirety of the shift. How on earth is this place still functioning. Pray you rent a vehicle and at the completion everything is processed correctly. Either that or go to Enterprise.

Cars are scarce in Massachusetts and after calling and visiting several locations Hertz saved the day. We secured a Nissan Pathfinder. The car was perfect and we had great customer service from DImitri. I highly recommend this Hertz location at the Worcester Airport in Massachusetts.

Rented from Hertz in Fitchburg MA and was overcharged for eight days. This was over a month ago I returned the car. Have been to the store twice and have made many phone calls without any answers. Stay away and if you do rent from here make sure you speak to someone when returning your rental.
