I would highly recommend NEVER using Geek Squad at the Framingham location and regret not finding a local small business to work on it instead. I brought in my sons fully functioning computer for what was a simple storage upgrade. I got it back after a week with no more sound. After hours trying to get their remote team in India to work on it to no avail and then bringing it back to the store they basically told me they were going to do ME A FAVOR and not charge me for sending it out for service in KENTUCKY!!! They told me that since I couldn’t prove the sound worked before I brought it in they couldn’t say it was their fault. Facts are I brought the computer in with working sound and after they upgraded the storage the sound no longer worked. They broke my sons computer and are taking no responsibility for it. I’m trying to escalate this further but was told that the Manager was on vacation. Thanks for the causing me more work and aggravation Best Buy. You’ve lost a customer and I hope others think twice before using your service.

In the past I have had good luck with Best Buy Geek Squad repairs, but my recent request for help was nearly a total disaster. I had called the online service for help with an extender that had been purchased at Best Buy, and while attempting to resolve this problem the agent made changes to my laptop that made it unable to reboot. Therefore the agent scheduled an appointment at the Framingham, MA store for the next day. Later that evening, I was able to reboot my laptop in safe mode and run a Windows diagnostic to correct the problem, so I cancelled the in-store appointment. I am really annoyed that a call for help with a wifi extender disabled my laptop, and that the agent did not know how to reboot the laptop in safe mode! To make matters worse, getting the extender to work was an easy fix. All I had to do was reset the extender and enter the wifi password. The help I received did not have the level of competency needed from professional, technical computer help.

There were 4 people standing around at the front of the store and one person running the register... a woman left the register and line to go stand around and talk with a Coworker. The line continued to get longer and finally after about 6 minutes someone else came to help me. Why do you guys have 3 registers and all these workers if none of them can work the register.

These guys have no clue. I came there with external HD, they asked [from] $400 for data recovery. Later I've found that usb port had faulty connection and recovered data myself for $0.
