This, Housing Authority is one of the worst ones in Massachusetts. Let’s start with the top that’s why the bottom is so shaky and disruptive. No one ever answers the phones at this place but they are receptionist’s that sit there and treat people so rudely when they enter the building. No wonder why the phones don’t get answered, the section8 workers are all at home eating bonbons. I don’t know who their supervisor is. There’s no supervision in this place whatsoever.

They bury the truth, they blackmail clients to keep quiet so there lack of of everything is covered. There's been lude and lasivios behavior, Bullying by so called staff. I was blackmailed myself by fijerique and Adam and some useless so called director.

My mother applied for fuel assistance 9-10 months ago though social services in our town and was referred to SMOC, she was approved almost immediately but the quantity of money has just been sitting in an account since then resulting in harassing phone call from her fuel provider saying she owes money. Nobody's ever in the office or return calls it's very frustrating and give her the idea that this company is essentially useless especially for people in need of assistance those things usually can't wait. This company is playing with people's lives in my opinion

SMOC will refuse to communicate with your property management company, then cancel your RAFT application due to 'missing landlord information', with zero regard for your current housing situation.I could understand 'being understaffed', but repeatedly and deliberately refusing to fulfill your job duties and obtain the required information is beyond the pale.They should really hire competent staff, rather than penalise those seeking assistance.Oh, and don't dare point out the fact that one cannot 'ajar a door'; they don't take kindly to having their misuse of the language laughed at, no matter how deserving.

UPDATE! WOW, I need help paying my electric bill... I applied for raft online and was awarded a small percentage of the past due balance. Just enough to avoid shut off . Now, in less than 15 days another payment is due . My financial situation has not improved , so I reapply. Now my second application has been in the green "under review"status for over 3 weeks ! smoc website informs the general public that the program will help households with up to $7,000 per year for: back rent, utilities first last & security and moving costs....I'm trying to get a couple hundred to pay for my electric... ?? Because I can't get the help I need? What else can it be?Trying to get some help with utilities; I don't recommend it-they've had my paperwork for over 3 months and I have heard nothing. Don't bother calling because no one will ever call you back or answer the phone... I keep reaching out to Jairlyn by email: she responds but with nothing helpful, just that we will be processing your paperwork in one to three weeks. Well it's been over 3 months... When people need help it's usually right away. Idk I'm just frustrated. I don't even know if I'm going to be able to get help... I'll update my rating if and when I hear back or receive the help that I need.One last thing; they really need to update their notices. The appointment scheduled notice that I was sent stated I need to come into the office when really it was over the phone. that's not a hard fix...

I just want to give a shout to this true angel in disguise Virginia Dooley, treated me with EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! She was patient, kind, professional, detailed and walked me through the application process from beginning to end.Esalia Espinal, answered my emails promptly and forwarded my information to a caseworker. Last but not least Julianna Cru & Wilmary, put the final touch to prevent me and my son from being homeless. I'm truly thankful and appreciative of your kindness and OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!. Thank you for having staff that still cares. This agency turned my MESS into a MIRACLE! Tears of Joy! Thank you to my case manager and ALL who helped. God bless all of you! Had a energy audit Oct 2021. Was told need refrigerator as the freezer thermostat is junk ices up so refrigerator can not cool. Every day have to take freezer apart use hair dryer to defrost so I don't loose all my food due to danger zone. Multiple calls no one ever returns. Not a company I would rely on.

In my experiences, you have a greater chance by being hit by a flying saucer than from Smoc actually helping you. I tried to get fuel assistance through SMOC, and that was a disaster. After sending my paystub‘s three times, they sent me a letter 6 months later saying my fuel assistance was rejected due to my inability to provide pay stubs. I toured a home daycare through SMOC in someone’s house. The daycare was basically a dungeon. It was in a dark basement with no windows that looked like a prison. I applied for housing over five years ago. They recently told me they are going to give section 8 and MRVP housing priority to people who have applied in 2010. I was in a house fire and still got 0 help from SMOC. If you want help, you are on your own in this cruel world unless you know someone who works for SMOC.
