Hopper show was disappointing. A decent watercolorist but certainly not at the level of his better oil paintings. The adjacent Gallery filled with a cross section of the relevant collection was much more interesting

Lovely museum containing a large collection of Fitz Henry Lane and various artists associated with Cape Ann. You will also find decorative arts and artifacts associated with maritime and other industries in the area. It is a pleasurable couple of hours especially on a rainy day.
Discover the art, history and culture of Cape Ann! The Cape Ann Museum, located in the heart of downtown Gloucester, welcomes visitors to its beautiful galleries for special exhibitions and programs throughout the year. The Museum houses the single largest collection of work by maritime artist Fitz Henry Lane along with many other historically important American artists who were inspired by the area, including John Sloan, Milton Avery, Nell Blaine, Paul Manship and Katharine Lane Weems. In addition to fine art, the Museum’s collections include decorative art, textiles, artifacts from the maritime and granite industries, two historic homes, a Library & Archives, and a sculpture park. The Museum Shop is open free of charge.
