My daughter and I stayed @Castle Manor this past weekend. We both loved this place. Staff was wonderful, got to meet Johnhe was amazing and very accommodating Kamron was very pleasant and extreamly helpful. Hands down the best hospitality in all of my east coast stays. The room had the best stunning view. The food was very affordable and delish! We had a great time. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something away from city life. Loved it! I will return for sure.Rooms: Loved our room. It was the scenic suite.Food & drinks: Food was fantastic! Great flavor great affordable prices.

LOVE Castle Manor Inn. The inn is super charming and down to earth. The folks who run the inn are friendly and sweet. Views of the marsh at sunset are beyond stunning and the food is amazing.

I wanted to love it here. It's a gorgeous property, the staff is friendly. The room, while clean, was really bare/minimal. However, our room was one of the closest in proximity to their wedding venue. The music was so loud we could feel the bass in our room. We were exhausted but could not sleep because of the noise and vibration. It went until nearly 11 pm. Also, we had called ahead and asked to drop off our luggage early (around 12pm), they told us it was no problem and that they would put our luggage in our room when it was ready. (Which was awesome! But...)Come 8:30pm when we return to the room, not only was it not there, it was left out in the open in the main house by itself. Anyone could have taken it. That was REALLY upsetting! Breakfast was also kind of pricy for what it was. I would not stay here again. If you want quiet, luxury, affordability, or even walk ability, this is not the place for you. Seems great for weddings though!

Attended for a wedding, booked the handicapped room for my mother who is wheelchair bound, they said they were handicap accessible. When we arrived the "handicapped" room had 3 steps to get into it and door was too small to fit a wheelchair. Went to speak with front desk about this and he stated that was the handicapped room because it has bars and told me when we booked our room I stated that my mom was able to walk, which I would not have because she cannot, then continued to be rude. Food was good.

Buyer beware! You can book and pay for a room months in advance and when you arrive, you STILL won't have a room. They have offered no accommodations for their mistake, no customer service, and are currently DELETING and BLOCKING their negative reviews on Facebook and here. Absolutely ridiculous!!!

We had the most wonderful stay over the weekend. Everything was amazing from an easy check in to a beautiful room and an amazing breakfast! The staff were helpful and friendly. Chef Dan took the time to say hello to each table and even took our breakfast order himself. When I tell you the food was amazing I mean it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had! The breakfast potatoes! Omg!When we requested extra bath towels at 11:30 pm Chef Dan himself delivered them.John at the front desk was the just the sweetest and helped us with navigating the city and gave great recommendations.Over all it was a near perfect vacation and most of that was thanks to the Castle Manor. We will see you again soon!

I can’t say enough great things about this venue. Very clean, calming, beautiful scenery, great rooms, and the cherry on top was the food. Chef Dan is such an amazing cook. I learned they do events here like weddings, parties etc, and I lived closer I would use them for all my catering needs. I sat outside this morning to eat my breakfast and overlooking the Annisquam River. The sun was out, the sky was clear and it was a beautiful crisp fall morning. Another thing about Chef Dan being so accommodating is he took my dietary needs in mind. I do not eat pork and since the breakfast contained bacon and sausage, he surprised me by bringing me a small plate of wonderfully cooked steak tips that were just bursting with flavor. All the items on his buffet (of course minus the bacon and sausage because I didn’t eat that) were so tasty. His home fries were just perfectly seasoned and cooked and the pastries were just spot on. I will be returning to this place every time I am in this area. Thank you guys for such a wonderful experience.I did have a very small hiccup with my reservation, but with John and Dan’s assistance my stay never missed a beat. I wish there were more places like this where I lived.

So, there's no point in making reservations at the Castle Manor Inn in Gloucester, MA, because you'll just get there and they'll say they're booked up. Doesn't matter how far ahead you've booked AND paid for these reservations. Now my wife and her sister are in Massachusetts, without a place to stay. No apologies, no we'll do what we can to help you, no accommodating at all. There is ZERO customer service. Any legitimate honest negative feedback is met with being blocked on social media. If this is any indication of how this place is run, definitely would steer clear. I've measured, now I'm cutting. This is despicable and inexcusable.

I would give this establishment 0 stars if possible! A friend of mines wife booked a stay here in MAY it is now OCTOBER, she got to the hotel only to find that they had no room and would not give a refund, or even an apology. She came all that way and now has no place to stay because of this establishment, tons of friends have also been blocked by their Facebook page after leaving negative feedback regarding this incident. This establishment can't even take criticism correctly, do not give them your money or your time.

DONT RISK BOOKING HERE!!Booked almost 6 months in advance and crossed the country only to arrive and be told they overbooked and absolutely refused to find a resolution or a refund. We were left stranded with no local availability anywhere on the busiest time of the year. No apology from the owner, no help finding another room, nothing. Rude, rude, rude! Completely unprofessional attitude. Choose anywhere else!UPDATE: This place blocks account for anyone offering an honest review. UNPROFESSIONAL

I am horrified to learn that this place took reservations for my daughter's FIVE MONTHS AGO, then turned them away after they traveled across the country with absolutely no assistance offered, saying they were over-booked. My daughters have looked forward to this trip forever, and Castle Manor Inn should be held accountable for such negligence. You ought to be ashamed. Very shabby. Now, they have no accommodations for the night!

The utter disrespect that this place has shown to my wife and sister in law is absolutely unreal. With reservations made in MAY... Yes, MAY, for this weekend 10/20-10/23 only to show up and be turned away because of the incompetence with the inability to secure their room.... 5 effin months and you can not do your due diligence. Your license should be stripped!! BUYER BEWARE

Amazing Breakfast! Clean comfortable rooms! The staff was so friendly and happy to assist. Even when I had special requests they were on point! seem less check in/check out! I could go on forever. We will definitely be back soon! The new ownership has really done so much with the establishment since the last time we visited! Quite impressed

The Castle Manor Inn is a beautiful Victorian. John was very friendly and helpful! He made sure I could stay in a room near my mom, and the room was incredible. It's a short drive to town where the people are very nice. Make sure you stay in the main home and not the separate motel-like rooms that are right next to it. It's worth the extra cost. I would stay here again!

We knew we were staying in the roadside motel portion, so our expectations were tempered. (The house itself looked beautiful and inviting but they don't seem to accommodate children since there's a max guest occupancy limit of 2 humans per room.)We arrived before dusk, and got checked into our room without issue by a friendly man inside the main house. The motel has been updated from some of the ghastly photos available in older reviews, fortunately! You can still clearly tell it's a very old motel, but they've put in the effort to remodel it to some extent. The furniture is new, and there's laminate flooring. It smelled clean. Fresh coat of paint on the walls. A new shower! The view from our room was pretty. I wish I'd taken photos of the room upon arrival. There's still a lot to be desired, though. The shower leaked incessantly and couldn't be fully shut off; there's probably some trick to it that we weren't aware of. The shower floor tiles had some dark mold in the grout, likely as a result of constant water. The shower exhaust fan would randomly get *extremely loud* every few minutes. Our room heater wouldn't turn on, so the maintenance man had to come by after dark to relight the pilot light; luckily he came pretty quickly and was friendly. The heater has a warning label on it that it gets very hot to the touch, which had me nervous the entire time for our small children. We had to arrange things in front of it to deter our kids from getting close to it. This is something people with young children should be aware of! There was also a plywood bench in the closet area right at the room entry that had exposed staples... There weren't fitted sheets on either bed- just top sheets (with some stains!) draped across the mattresses. There were mattress covers fortunately, but those need replacing. We would ONLY return here if able to book a room in the main house. I wouldn't stay in the motel portion again.
