I've been with the Homefield for a long time and they are one of my favorite banking places.

I spoke with Donna about an auto loan and she was extremely friendly and helpful, she spent a lot of time answering all my questions while offering advice for the loan process - what a great representation of a positive member experience at Homefield Credit Union. Thank you Donna and everyone else I spoke with for all of your help.

My husband and I have been members of this bank since before 2000 and over the past 5 years this bank’s service has been steadily declining. We have a mortgage through them and a couple years ago they failed to pay my homeowners insurance, which they insisted they had to control. They then failed to pay my real estate taxes!! I got some great excuses for this followed by a woman telling me I needed to add money to my escrow account, which didn’t make any sense at all. Now with their new online banking it has been a show and a half!!! I can’t see the accounts I could before and the customer service reps were incredibly rude except for one, Max, who was extremely nice and helpful.---Update-- I was able to speak with a bank manager today, Tanya Burke, who was extremely helpful and was able to explain in more detail as well as correct some things for me. I do hate that I had to do all of this and spend this much time to get this clarification, but I am extremely grateful that she took the time to sit and talk with me today. Thank you for you help.

I want to give a shout out to Homefield Credit Union's updated website and mobile app. Having both the web page and mobile app with the same look and feel is definitely a plus. As Treasure of Grafton Lions Charities, I am especially happy with the new mobile check deposit feature. Well done Homefield Credit Union!

I would rather give -5. One of the worst experience.I'm really disappointed with my experience at this credit union. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. It seems they weren't very organized with scheduling appointments. They gave me an appointment on a Saturday, even though they knew there wouldn't be an underwriter available. When I arrived, they said they didn't receive my email confirmation, and suggested it may have gone to spam, instead of acknowledging they missed it.They clearly have no respect for their customers' time. I had driven more than an hour for the appointment, only to find out there was no appointment and Ken was on leave. Christopher Lola and Kenneth Lewis were the two representatives I dealt with, and I didn't find them to be very helpful. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience. I'd strongly advise you to stay far away from HCU.

Member since 1996. I had my daughter endorse a check to me and I couldn’t deposit it because she isn’t a member. The check was a college refund from a check that I originally wrote. I’ve deposited enforced out of state personal checks in the past with no issues. When you deposit a check, they wait for it to clear before you can withdraw against it anyways. There shouldn’t have been a problem. Customer service for a 26 year member was horrible.

We refinanced our mortgage through Homefield Credit Union. The process was straight-forward. Elaine and Doug were great to work with. They communicated well and made sure any issues were resolved so we could close on time. I found their rates to be better than others around! I’m very glad we moved to them!

I find their opening and closing what seems like every other week is very hard on people with disabilities.

After about a year I was thinking back on this experience and wanted to share it with anyone willing to read. Its not a huge deal or anything but it had a significant impact on my mental health for a while after it happened. So I made a homefield checking account about 4 years ago when I got my first job just across the street of one of their locations. I had heard credit unions were better than banks so it was perfect. I loved their rewards and the staff was always awesome. About 2-3 years into having my account there I lost my job due to being sexually harassed by my boss which was already traumatizing in itself. I would've been homeless had it not been for some friends letting me stay with them. Obviously, I was hurting for money. The month after I lost my job I had almost no money in my account. Previously I only overdrafted once. The day of my birthday a stupid free trial I forgot to cancel renewed. Boom overdraft fee. I called them up they fixed it without a problem, they even said "happy birthday" without me saying it was my birthday! Then about 2 weeks later I decided to use a stupid itunes gift card to get something off the app store. Obviously it wasn't something I needed but I had a gift card so why not right? Unbenounced to me Apple charged my card rather than my gift card, I have no idea to this day how this happened. Once I saw this I called Apple right away, they were baffled how this even happened as was I. They refunded my card but I was left with a $30 overdraft fee because it was my second overdraft that billing period. There was no way in hell I had the money to pay that, and especially for something I shouldn't have been charged for. I called them up again, this time I spoke to a guy I had never heard of before. Hostile right off the bat without even knowing why I called.. I think his name was Ken but this was a while ago. So I explain the situation to Ken, and I hear the annoyance in his voice already. He tells me that there is nothing he can do. I'm begging him, telling him that I literally had no control over my account going in overdraft. It was Apple's error not mine, I even offered him my case number and told him that he can contact them and they will tell him what happened. He refuses. I explained to him my situation, that I recently lost my job and I really dont have an extra $30, I didn't have any money in fact. He doesn't care. He even refused to lower the overdraft charge to a first time overdraft fee of $10. At one point he even says he doesn't believe that my account overdrafting WASN'T my fault. He said I should be more careful with my money. He berated and belittled me endlessly when all I was asking for was a little compassion which takes nothing out of his pocket. That was the breaking point. I wasn't just sad anymore, I was angry. Dumbfounded by what he was saying, I said "thank you so much for all your help Ken have a great night!". Once I got off the phone with him I headed straight to my branch and closed my account then and there, thankful the teller didn't ask any questions because I would've probably broken down. It was a hard couple of months and that experience did not help. Every once in a while I do something nice for someone who is struggling with money to try to offset the harm people like Ken do, financially and mentally. I'm not struggling like I was last year and I never will be again but I hope anyone that is doesn't find themselves unlucky enough to be in Ken's path.

I was going to open an account here today. But, I felt as if I was being pushed away when I wanted to cash a check that drawn on this bank. Now I read the reviews and can't believe how horrible they were. My decision is now made. Sorry to say, but there are plenty of other banks to choose from.
