Drive thru is closed and the lines are very long. Also the coffee machine for customers is broken. The poor tellers seem to be trying to do everything. A little disappointed in this as it's happened the last 2 times I tried to come banking at this branch.

I just read a negative review that was not counted in the rating. Not sure why. It was a long review, maybe they want brevity. so, to be short. Avoid this bank like the plague. I have been a member for about 30 years, because I liked the idea of a small local bank. But 20 years ago I moved to CA, and they have made it impossible to really access my money - said I would have to come in person to choose a PIN for card. I will spare you all the details. but because of glitches they now say I have a negative balance (-$4) because they were taking out a $35 fee every 5 days without my knowledge until well after the fact. Because of that will not let me close the account and they say the account is dormant, and will continue to take out $35 every 5 days until I pay up. I could explain, but trying to keep it short. Bottom Line: they are not a small local personal bank. I have made at least 20 phone calls over the past two years trying to straighten things out. Never has anyone ever had any compassion or understanding, really listened, or treated me like a real person, or come up with a way to help me. I will stick with Citibank, a huge international bank, that has always treated me like an important customer, with respect, and assistance.

I've had enough aggravating experiences with more than one person at this bank after being with them and the previous owner, B of A, for 20 years, that I'm finally overcoming my inconvenience avoidance and taking my business elsewhere in town where I feel respected instead of treated like a distraction to whatever seems more important to at least some of the personnel there. The tipping point came yesterday when I needed to send an urgent bank wire to my son. I had all the information needed but the person who "helped" me at the bank insisted I needed another address to make the wire go through. I told him that must be incorrect. He kept insisting, and after I said three times, I'm sure that can't be required, it makes no sense, instead of offering to ask someone else in the branch, like his manager for example, he got up, said "When you get the required information we can send the wire " ... and walked out of the office! I hadn't ever raised my voice or in any way said anything personal to him, only was confused and annoyed and had pressed my case that I was sure I was right. Fragile egos at this bank. Things are tough all over with covid, I get it , but this and every bank is a service organization. Helping customers is their job in exchange for the money we deposit that they invest elsewhere for profit. I said to his retreating back, "You mean I have to make another appointment now?" over his shoulder he said "Yes." "I'd like to speak to the manager" I said. Still walking away he said "She's at lunch" as he left the lobby. Incredibly rude. Steaming, and befuddled now at how to send the wire, I checked my data. No other address was required. I sat in my car and called another bank to see, if I opened another account, if I could send a bank wire that day. No, they told me it takes a couple days to verify a new account. i called my bank back and asked to speak to the manager. Two hours later she called me and said, get this, "Oh, you taught us a valuable lesson, we don't need that address after all for a domestic wire, none of us in the office knew that. If you come back in, we can get it done. " "None of us knew that," she said. As if that was a good enough reason to waste my time and insult my intelligence. "None of us knew that." I rest my case against Berkshire Bank of Great Barrington. I went back to the bank, they sent the wire 3 1/2 hours after my initial appt there. But not before the manager had to make another call to the wire dept to ask another question. No apology, only, again, "You sure taught us a lesson!" I thought, not my intent, and not my job, is it? I politely and cheerfully suggested the bank person I had talked with could at the very least have offerEd to get a second opinion, such as calling the central office's Wire Dept himself, which is what they eventually did. To walk out of an office and not even apologize later for wasting an entire afternoon was enough for me to realize it's time to find another more humane bank. And that's what I'm going to do tomorrow.

For a bank they are incapable of handling routine paper work. My family is a long time customer and they are rude, lazy, and do not do their job. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your banking.

The chubby new bank manager is more than a little condescending and unaware but other than that it's par.

Like the tellers, but any other customer service is difficult. Took several tries and effort just to close an old passbook that I wasn't even aware we had anymore....glad I got a statement. found money.

First experience starting an account was incredible. Kristy is very kind and personable, a massive reason I'll stay here. Manager, Matt, was equally great to connect with. The team has made me feel very welcome each of my several times there, they communicate clearly and take pride in what they do. This is a great bank to check out after being with so many failures!
