Heard of Steve from my mom, told him my price point and ideal age of car and he found me a really good car for $4,200. He made sure I knew that the car needed new tires soon and recommended a place for me to get them.

This guy is definitely a swindling car salesman. Knows more than you and will use that to cover up problems or do hack repairs

Not a great experience. Craigslist seller. Purchased a vehicle from him that he purchased at auction. Vehicle had some miles on it (100kish) and was over a decade old but overall in good shape body wise. Allegedly he had someone fix up a few major issues with the vehicle. Trouble is that the issues he had fixed there were spotty records for, and he couldn't even produce who it was that made the repairs. For example the timing belt 'sticker' showing milage was a post it note with tape. We realized later that he was probably the one making the repairs which he is not legally allowed to do in the town or as just a sort of 'handy man' dealer. This is likely why he was so evasive about repairs even though he personally ordered and had receipts for the part themselves. I guess they just got themselves into the vehicle by some sort of fairy dealer magic. Were desperate so we bought it anyways and the test drive seemed to go ok but that was just the beginning.
