I have been with the Hingham Institution for some time and am very satisfied with their services. When I experienced a login issue, one of the staff members was incredibly helpful and resolved it quickly.

Former customer as of today. Closed my account because of repeated problems caused by there online banking team. Tried to resolve the matter over the phone. AND WAS HUNG UP ON BY THE STAFF. HAD TO ARRIVE IN PERSON AND CLOSED MY ACCOUNT. STAFF IS USELESS.

Visited the Cohasset branch to attempt to fix an issue with Online Banking Bill Pay. Branch Manager opened a ticket and the matter is still unresolved. Tried to go to the main location and waited for over an hour and the team member then came to us and passed the issue onto another person. Still unresolved. It was a no brainer to pull the money from this bank. The service is really going down hill.

I received horrible service from the manager Ivonne at Hingham Branch . She hung up on me without asking how can I help you . Gave me no assistance. Told me to go on web page to find the spelling of her name .
Would never use this branch again . The other branch in Hull was very professional and kind . I was in tears from receiving the Kindness from
Hull branch .

I have worked with six different commercial lenders and Hingham has THE WORST customer service. They put my mortgage into technical default and charged me thousands of dollars in penalty interest for no legitimate reason. Our loan officer Alex Boyd was worse than useless. My complaint to his supervisor and even to the bank President went unanswered. So many better banks to choose from.

Had a 9 month CD at Hingham Saving and went in on maturity date to move to a 5 month CD with an attractive rate. Went back in 2 weeks later to open another 5 month CD. Wasn't able to log-into online banking due to business schedule until 2 months later when I realized the teller put me in a 9 month CD. The bank refused to even have a meeting with me to discuss the teller issue and said "see you at the maturity date, decision has been made."

HIFS is a great bank and though it gives you the attention of a small bank, it has the resources of a large bank.

If you do a mortgage with this bank, you are forced to use a certain law firm to perform the closing, and this firm charges more than twice what any other firm in the area would charge to do the same garden variety work and seeks to avoid providing discounts to clients that are available by choosing more expensive options, driving up their own commission. Seems to be consistent with the other reviews of this institution.

We had a business account with Hingham Savings for many years. Probably deposited over 100G a month. I went for a Mortgage and was turned down by a minor thing. Another bank gave me the mortgage no problem. Asked for the business PPP loan and they can't be bothered. They have zero loyalty to business customers. On top of all that I bounced a few checks because i get large checks and they hold them for days and I wrote on them and no over draft protection and so they decided to close my accounts. I really can't believe that. I actually grew up in the same neighborhood as the president who knows my family well. I'm a nobody to him. Hopefully people get my message and go to Citizens or similar who really have loyalty to their customers.
