This was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a business. Paul Currie is difficult to deal with, is an ineffective communicator, does not follow through with tasks he says he will do and has no compassion. Keep in mind this is the Funeral Director. First off, during the planning of the services it seemed like Paul had never done this before even though he’s been doing this for years, so he says. We had to hound him to get things done and we were given misinformation. For example, we had sent him a copy of the obituary for the newspaper, very short and sweet. He ended up publishing that one on his website after we told him that one was for the newspaper. No attention to detail making a trying time every more stressful. My mother was cremated and we waited over two weeks for her ashes. After multiple emails went unanswered, Paul finally responded and said “oh yeah, I have the ashes.” Communication is important! The final example is that Paul told me and my sister that he would notify my mother’s life insurance policy to process the payout which was to pay for the funeral home costs, the balance of which was to go back to us. The problem was Paul actually never called. When my sister called her the insurance company three weeks later, they didn’t even know my mother had passed. When my sister, called Paul he scrambled and had no answer as to why this was not taken care of. We were relying on him to finish his job and my sister had to take care of this on her own. Hopefully no one will have to go through this and will not use Hurley funeral home. I had no choice than to report this to the Better Business
