About Dinosaur footprints
Dinosaur Footprints is a unique attraction located along Route 5 in Holyoke, where visitors can explore the preserved tracks of ancient creatures. Managed by The Trustees of Reservations, this small preserve features some of the oldest evidence of life in New England, with fossilized impressions that date back over 190 million years. The site includes hundreds of three-toed prints, likely left by early Jurassic predators like Eubrontes giganteus. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour along a short, easy trail that leads to the rock surface displaying these fascinating tracks. While some may initially find it challenging to identify the footprints, excitement builds as they discover more. The area offers a lovely walk by the water, making it a worthwhile stop for those with a spare hour. Although some guests express skepticism about the authenticity of the tracks, many still appreciate the experience and recommend visiting, especially in late November when the sun enhances the visibility of the footprints. Overall, Dinosaur Footprints is a fun and educational experience for anyone interested in prehistoric life and natural history.

Very cool! Recommend visiting in late November, with the sun at a lower angle -- the shadows helped us see the footprints better. It's a quick stop, not a final destination, but a fun thing to see if it's on your way!

Self guided tour of actual Dino foot prints. At fisrt its hard to make out, but as soon as you identify the first prints you start seeing them all over.
