I have 1 year left on my spa membership. I understand that you are closing the spa at the end of October. Can I continue when you reopreopen?

Cranwell is an amazing place. The golf course is kept up nicely and great for a relaxing day out. The course has great views and is comfortable to play on. Food at the tavern called Sloane's, I believe, is good. The people who work at the golf course were professional. I would recommend for a vacation or a quick trip. I heard they are putting a lot of money into the place, and am excited to see the results.

I didn't even want to give this place 1 star. All I can say is make SURE you double check ALL your statements from the hotel and the spa and the spa store. These people are out to rip you off. And their spa services are not even worth the price. I would definitely say go somewhere else, this hotel is outdated and the staff is rude and grumpy.

I feel mixed.... the Cranwell was acquired and they are doing a TON of construction and putting up a lot of new townhouses, some of which are very close to the historic mansion and therefore obstruct views. Therefore, it's losing a lot of its charm because it feels like a newer resort with a historic mansion plopped in the middle. Brunch in the mansion is lovely. It seems there are often conferences in the mansion which can give it a corporate feel. I don't know if I would book a romantic weekend here, but I could see doing a family vacation (thanks to the indoor/outdoor pools, golf, spa, and other amenities) or a smaller girls trip. Rooms are well-appointed and the beds and linens are incredibly comfortable. The spa has some nice amenities (whirlpool hot tub, steam room, dry sauna), but the service was lacking. We were sent champagne by family and they served it to us in little plastic cups (plastic champagne glasses would have been fine) and the card that came with the champagne still had the price sticker on it. They also tried to up-charge a few times (for example, during the massage when I asked for slightly harder pressure the massage therapist replied "deep tissue costs more, would you like to upgrade?" We just would have expected a spa facility of that size to have slightly more polished service.

Lovely resort. Currently undergoing construction which detracted from the otherwise spectacular views, from which I am told. Lovely dining area (Wyndhurst Restaurant) with opulent decor and awesome service. Great veranda to have a cocktail and overlook the grounds. Proximity to Tanglewood is under ten minutes. Proximity to Stockbridge, Norman Rockwell Museum, quaint Lenox retail shops/galleries, Lee shops/galleries - perfect. I would stay again and hope for no construction.

Didn't have many of the luxuries to which I'm accustomed to. Lots of things had "out of order" signs on them. Massage tech was a bit rough around the edges & snapped my wrist when she shook my hand and squeezed it way too hard. The massage wasn't great but it was adequate. Facility was very clean

Way over-priced for what you get. The rooms are run down and the grounds don't offer much. The outdoor pool is small and far away from the main building and the indoor pool is not even attached to the main building. Weird. The food is not good and over-priced.

Nothin super impressive. Older rooms(we stayed not in the main building) , food was mediocre. Nothing I would go back for.:(

This was the perfect spot for a quick weekend getaway. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the restaurants were delicious- my mouth is still watering for the toffee pudding. The spa was gorgeous and my massage was one of the best I've had. Weather prevented us from taking advantage of the outdoor spaces, but I'm sure I'll add the fifth star after my next visit!

We stayed at the Cranwell over Presidents' Day weekend to do some skiing. Greatly enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We utilized the concierge to book dinner reservations in Lenox which worked out very well. We did have breakfast there for the three days and the buffet was very good and the staff was great. My only negative comment is that the rooms we stayed in at the Mansion although clean and comfortable were dated and in need of a refresh with respect to furniture, bathrooms and carpeting. That being said, we would visit again.

My partner and I decided to do a spa getaway for Christmas at Cranwell because of its seclusion and beauty as well as reputation for being an outstanding spa. This PSA of a review is specifically aimed at couples wanting to do the same.. The property is beautiful, sprawling, and very pretty covered in snow. The staff are some of the kindest people ever and go above and beyond to make sure your time there is pleasant. We also really enjoyed the food, which is well prepared and delicious in every instance, (including the breakfast and Christmas buffets).... The rooms and beds are also super comfy, and the front desk staff are awesome.. The spa is also connected to the main building so you don't have to go outside in the snow if you are staying in it. There is also a shuttle that takes you wherever you need to go between buildings where there is no tunnel. It's a really really great place overall.. But.. and this is a big but.. ALL SPA FACILITIES ARE SEGREGATED BY GENDER EXCEPT FOR THE POOL... Why is this a big deal? Why am I about to dedicate rest of my review to this? So glad you asked... Here is why: Want to hang out in the Spa quiet room pre-massage with your partner sipping delicious tea and enjoying the fireplace and cozy wraps? Not going to happen.. Ok then... Maybe you would like to use an amazing multi jet whirlpool with your partner? Sorry... How about using the Sauna together? Nope... Steam bath together? No can do... You CAN however enjoy the large indoor pool together where (sometimes crying) children are allowed.... that's it... Oh and if you book a couples massage, you can be massaged in the same room, which we did (and it was great) but that's pretty much it for having an experience together.. Yeah... It's like a 1960's sitcom where everyone stays in separate beds (Spa-edition!) I inquired in detail about this major downer from various staff who have been there for 10+ years. This is apparently a VERY sore point for many of their clients who have no idea until they arrive. Why can't at least the quiet room be unisex you may ask? There IS no good reason... I know this because they've done it for Valentines day in the past.. (but why not all the time?) and WHY is there not a general whirlpool near the giant pool that everyone can use? no idea... The stock answer I received from desk staff, 'We were just bought by Hyatt and are upgrading everything in the next couple of years'.. Yeah well.. that's great.. but as of right now, if you're a couple and want to spend time together at the actual SPA, which is pretty much the ENTIRE reason for going to Cranwell in the first place (unless you golf), don't get your hopes up... They try to play it up like the pool is enough to be able to spend time together... It's really not, the staff candidly admit as much, and they should do something about it RIGHT NOW, instead of just kicking the can down the road to 2019 and disappointing people in the meantime.. This would be a 4 star review if not for the spa issues noted above... That's how big of an issue it is when you get to the spa with your partner and you realize what the deal is.. it's like.... "Umm... ok.. see you in a few hours honey... hope you have a great time in the whirlpool / sauna / steam bath / quiet room.... all... by... yourself... " Womp Womp

We've been to this resort more than once - property is beautiful & if you're in the main building it's great. However, before you go any further with your reservation be certain to read the FINE PRINT. This is where you will find the hidden cancellation fee of $25 plus tax. After seeing this charge on my credit card bill I phoned, left a message for the reservation manager (Jessica?) & no one had the courtesy to call me back. Also take note of the resort fee - duh! It is a resort! Why is there an extra fee? I don't think we'll be back; too many other good places in the Berkshires.

Yes, it is a beautiful place. Yes, the mansion transports you back to yesteryear. But, what has happened to food quality and service???!!!! I have been going to Cranwell for many years either for conferences or social events or a spa visit. My most recent visit was for a conference that included several meals. In my previous couple of visits, I was impressed with food quality and presentation. My most recent visit simply was disappointing. The food quality was reminiscent of a cheap hotel banquet with dried chicken and either under cooked or over cooked vegetables. Conference snacks such as brownies and cookies were as dry as sand on a beach. Less impressive was the service at lunch and dinner where the servers clearly wanted to be anywhere else but there. If you expected five-star service, you instead got diner level where servers stack dirty plates right in front of you while cleaning the table and seemed put out if you asked for anything out of the normal such as tea instead of coffee. Actually, I have been to many diners where both the food and service were significantly better than here. Don't even get me started on the last wedding event I attended there where food was very unappealing and unrecognizable. Oh what has happened to the food quality at Cranwell? Restore it to its glory like like the mansion.

Just spent a delightful mid week stay there. We stayed in the Founders Building. It is lovely and our King suite was exquisite. It was well appointed and just beautiful. Complete with anything you need from refrigerator to plush towels galore and books to read. We liked the fact that we walked through the building just a short distance by hallway/tunnel to the spa, pool and fitness center. They were all first class amenities. High end spa and very complete fitness center (even classes!) Luxury but friendly and comfortable too. We also were close to the main hotel mansion building which is another separate delight. The decor is very elegant. Beautiful lobby area, bar, and dining rooms. Incredible views too. Service from check-in to housekeeping and through check out was superb. We were treated very well. It only added to an already amazing experience. Highly recommend staying there. We will go back.
