This grocery store is very clean, but the prices are much more expensive than other area stores. I only shop here infrequently, when I need something immediately. Local ownership does not always equate to lower prices.

I called and asked west springfield and Longmeadow big y which cake would be good for 8 people. They all suggested the 8 inch round cake. I asked them both if I could put an edible picture on it and they both said yes and they gave me the same wide variety of cake frosting flavors and fillings…. Well I decided that I would just go to the longmeadow bigy for the cake and when I cake in, the lady taking my order said I could only do the edible picture on a huge sheet cake… she only gave us two frosting flavors, vanilla or chocolate either whipped or regular (when we wanted cheesecake flavor). We picked marble cake and strawberry filling. My issue I had was she said she could not cut the edible picture to fit a round one… after I spoke to two bigy’s. Fast forward to today when I picked it up, and I looked at the pitiful placements of the edible picture… they have this huge blank white space on either side (like they could have rotated it to make it fit the cake sideways) which is not even centered and the picture had a green hue on it when the picture I gave them was black and white…. Lastly there was insane bubbling under the picture. Never seen a cake done so poorly in my life…. For 40.99 I could have just went to a professional bakery and got a basic cake that was the size I needed. Anywho I bought the cake because I had no other cake but I now know not to go there. Or at least go to a different bigy because I’ve had a cake done at the west side location that was exicuted exactly the way it should have been. I just pray when I cut into it tonight that it tastes remotely good…
UPDATE:
Cake and frosting ratio was so off and the frosting was utterly sweet. $40 down the drain. So sad. Kids also did not like it and one complained of the red frosting not tasting good. The image on the edible paper was said “does not taste like the one they had before” The only thing that was okay was the cake itself and the strawberry filling. Tossed the remaining into the trash — not happy, what a waste.

Very easy to navigate. A very sweet and caring employee helped get me a chair and water when I felt faint. I forget her name, sorry. I'm 80 and think I'm 25. Wishful thinking. Lol
