It was a rainy rainy day. 16 of us got together to play a round of golf. My first contact was the pro shop. Very nice person with quick answers to all my inquiries. Then the restaurant. The bartender was pleasant. She seemed pleased when she learned we had 16 coming. The breakfast looked amazing. The course was in great shape but wet because of a lot of rain. Greens were recently punched but still good. After the round, we gathered in the in the restaurant. Burgers and service were amazing.I was surprised how many folks come to the course just to eat at the restaurant. Good food, service, and cost is why. Can't wait to come back.

One of my new favorite courses. What a fun and interesting course. It was my first time playing it and really want to play it again knowing where to it a few of those blind shots. Fairways, traps and greens where all in good shape. Greens where punched but still in really good shape.

The course was in great shape & a fun layout. I was a 2-some & paired with a single & we had some laughs together. Unfortunately the course management underperformed in a major way. We were behind a 3-some that had exactly zero golf etiquette & never kept pace with the group ahead of them. They played out of 2 bags not 3, & constantly walked back & forth to their cart for who knows what reason. We called the ranger twice who then spoke with that group & exactly nothing changed, nothing. We had a very poor 5 hour round on an otherwise beautiful day. Get your act together Olde Barnie, or I’ll never come back, especially on a Fri in mid summer! ??

Course in decent shape, but over priced ($77 for 9 or 18 but it takes so long you end up leaving at 9 out of frustration), poorly managed and surly customer service. Pace of play for 9 was 2.5 hours- unacceptable and Marshall does nothing to move it along. Would never recommend with all the other choices in area- could be so much better if managed properly and not just taking advantage of the summer visitors

Very nice layout. The course was in good shape. Tee box areas in decent shape but fairway and greens played well. I’d play this course again. 100 time better than Cape Cod Country Club.

In response to Ms. Gebhardt's review of Olde Barnstable Golf Course, she was looking to play a public golf course in July, which is in the height of the season and always booked solid. She expected to get a nine hole rate, which is unrealistic on a busy summer day. As a member for the past 6 years and having been a member of Yarmouth Golf for over 40 years prior to that, she needs to understand this is the norm for public golf on Cape Cod in season. The next time she only wants to play 9 holes, I suggest she play later in the day when the rates drop. The staff does a wonderful job of getting groups out on time and moving. She has to understand that there are a lot of newer and less experienced players out on the course at this time that do not understand about pace of play.Paul Tivnan

Had a great experience at the course. Check in at the pro shop was quick, the starter was very personable, cart man helpful and the beer was cold! Can't wait to go back! Nice job.

My pick as one of the best all around 18 hole Cape Course for mid to high handicappers. Very good walking course. Challenging but not overly penal. Layout is mostly visible, some lateral water and hazards. Conditions generally good to very good, greens usually very true and moderately fast. Play off season to avoid pricy green fees.

I played Olde Barnstable in mid May 2023. The course was in good condition, with the greens having recovered from the spring aeration already. A few tee boxes and greens had some rough patches but overall conditioning is acceptable for the greens fee.The course design is … good, but it could be better. It’s very playable, with landing areas wider than it would seem from Google Maps. There’s a good mix of easy and hard holes, and you can’t just hit driver on every hole. Where the layout lacks a bit is in the par 3s (they’re all long and kinda similar, except for #2), and some of the par 4s that blend in with each other due to the flat terrain and overall back-and-forth layout. The green complexes are fair and somewhat challenging if you miss in the wrong spot. The best holes are #5, a tough mid length par 4 that demands an accurate tee shot, #8, a risk/reward short par 4, and #18, a long par 5 with the tree in the fairway guarding approaches to the green. It’s not a particularly long course, but it’s long enough for most amateurs to be challenged from the back tees. The amenities are great. The putting green is excellent, and there’s a full driving range and small short game area. The staff was very nice.Is it worth a trip to play this course? Probably not, but if you’re on the cape and looking for a well priced, very good golf experience, Olde Barnstable is a great option.

This course is one of my favorites, but this year 5/28/23, I was very disappointed with the condition of the fairways. The green were perfect. Still love the layout, but the town needs to spend some money to bring back it's best condition.

Update..late Oct/ Nov ..they stopped maintaining the course. Greens are uncut/real shaggy and full of ball marks... some holes it's like putting on a tee box. The rough around several greens is dirt and several fairways need aeration/seeding. No leaf blowing which led to nearly a 5 hr round...other courses had a leaf blower constantly clearing each hole during the day. Feels like a restaurant at closing time where everyone wants to go home. Other Cape courses are far better choices for Fall golf..Cranberry, Bayberry, Dennis Pines, Captains much better maintained.* The staff is still top notch and extremely accommodating.....too bad the town skimps on resources.May- Sept ...Old Barney is a great golf tract especially from the blue tees. The staff is very accommodating and the grounds crew does an incredible job maintaining the course. Definitely a course you should put on your rotation.

Hidden treasure on the Cape. This is one of the best courses you'll play on Cape Cod.

Not a bad course, but the guy running the “Pro” Shop”is a rude idiot. He harassed us for being 12 minutes off their ‘recommended’ pace and came after us twice, even after one of our carts broke down. Very rude man. Don’t go there unless you can shoot in the nineties so they can leave early to go fishing. Horrible experience - ruined an otherwise lovely vacation.

Great “Cape” golf course experience. Plenty challenging and good layout. Would play again
