The staff at Powder Mill have supported my outdoor maintenance and lawn needs flawlessly since 1993, when our family moved into the area. Just this week (May 2017) they helped me restore a model 260 John Deere mower and it is doing a great job once again. They sold me a compact JD 790 after the blizzard of '97, and a fabulous (used) two stage shaft driven front snow blower to fit that tractor that saved our lives in 2015. Many Thanks!

July 3rd I stopped at this place to see if someone could look at my father in laws gas powered hedge clippers. First of all the gentleman who runs the place was 20 minutes late opening. As I walked in I was greeted with an unpleasant smile and a head nod. I told him what happened and it was vibrating a little but was still working. Without hesitation he said " I can look at it but it's gonna be at least a month. And I don't need you calling me every week to see if it's ready" meanwhile the mechanic who works for him was just staring doing NOTHING. So I took it to Ace hardware in Acton they adjusted it for me which took 5 minutes now it's fine. Thanks for nothing Powder Mill Repair.

I have never had a bad experience with Powder Mill Equipment, and I've been doing business with them for many years. Their service has always been prompt, courteous, and reasonable and in more than one occasion they have gone way out of their way to assist. I would not go anywhere else.

Just had a mower deck on my lawn tractor repaired I'll be honest I dropped off the deck with some trepidation that I might not see it for 2-3 weeks if I was lucky, but over the last year or so I have had some very favorable activity with my dealings here. Larry at Powder Mill was great. if I hadn't had my phone on silent mode I would have gotten a fully refurbished mower deck back within 3 1/2 days!!!

I was a customer by purchasing a John Deere Snowblower. I had the unit serviced and while it was there for service I decided to sell it. Discussed the proposed sale with Larry and he offered to market and sell the unit to their customers for me. It has been in excess of 1 year and through countless phone calls and promises by Larry the unit was about to sell and ultimately did sell and the check was being mailed but nothing was ever received. I issued 4 pieces of formal correspondence and demand for my money or the unit and nothing. Powder Mill has willfully chosen to keep property that does not belong to them without payment when demanded, the authorities are investigating.

Dropped off a mower deck back in late March when there was still snow on the ground. Asked for a new belt and reconditioning, and wanted to purchase a JD tractor battery and tune-up kit. Took 4 weeks! Lawn was 8" by the time I got it back. AND they had neither the battery, nor the tune-up kit in stock.

They have nothing in stock.... Literally... I went into the store and the shelves were bare. Not sure how this place is still in business. Go to Padula bro's or somewhere else. Looks like they have bad credit and JD came and took all the new stuff back. A bunch of old crap laying around the back but that's it. When I asked for a service kit for a D170 he said they were selling like pop corn.... I asked when they would have more and he just kept going in circles about how fast they sell.

This company is the worst company I have ever deal with before. The customer service is horrible! We dropped off our John Deere lawn mower in April only to have it returned to us 6 weeks later with no work done on it at all because every time we called and asked for a status we kept getting different answers. We finally got so frustrated we told them to deliver the mower back to us without doing any work because we couldn`t wait any longer. The people we dealt with, Larry and Jack, lied to us everyday about the status of the work being done on the mower. I hightly recommend no one ever use this company. How they stay in business is a mystery to me!

This is the worst company to go and get any work done, and are a BIG CHEAT SHOP. I gave my John Deer lawn mower, which had only been bought 8 months back, and used 5-6 times, and used to start and work fine the first time, but would not re-start the second time (i.e.e while heated, because of faulty thermostat). These folks kept the mower for over 8 weeks, and after numerous calls, where they always told that "Bill" will call back by EOD today, I never heard anything back. Eventually "Bill" called, and said the mower nede a $180 annual tune up (even though I had used it less than 5-6 times the previous summer, and had done the oil change/filter and spark plug clean up). Per them the mower needed carburettor cleanup!! I explained that the mower starts and work fine the first time, and for as long as I use it the first time. Bill got offended, because "he was the engineer"!. I requested if he can just do the carburettor cleanup, and not change the filter/spark plug with the new John Deere keit he was selling for $90, but he refused. After numerous follow ups, when I finally went to pick up the lawn mower, the mower started the first time, but did not start the 2nd time at the shop!! He had to again keep the mower, and when I picked it up after 2 weeks, it started the 2 times I tried at the shop. After I got the mower home, and tried using the mower after a week, the mower started the first time, and did not start after that at all. Not even the next day or next week (while it used to always start the next day, or after some time).

Not even the next day or next week (while it used to always start the next day, or after some time).
I then raised a complaint with John deere, and they told me to take it back to the shop. At the shop, Bill and company refused to service, saying they are not servicing lawn mowers for 2014 now, and to bring it the next year in March 2015. This is after I had talked to them on phone following my talks with John Deere CSR, and PowderMill told me to bring the lawn mower!!! The guy who told me to bring, lied and said I forced him to say that I can bring the lawn mower, while they are not taking in any for the season!!..For follow up sake I again took it in March 2015 after twice confirming on the phone, once to me and once to my wife, that I can bring my John Deer JS28 model for Annual tune up.
Once again after I got to the shop, "Bill" lied and stated that they are not servicing John Deere's now etc. etc.. Upon asking if he can give this in writing he got loud and agitated and made a few other lies such as they don;t have service parts of that John Deere etc. I recorded this conversation on my cell.
I then took the mower to another shop. They gave me back my mower in 3 days, and gave it in writing that the mower did not need carburettor clean, whereas all this while the cheats at powdermill wanted to clean up carburettor!!
SAVE YOURSELF, and DON'T GO TO THIS SHOP!!

I have used Powder Mill mostly for picking up the parts that I order on-line. (A bit antiquated if you ask me but I guess they need to help support the dealer network.) Recently, my riding mower needed fixing that was beyond what I felt comfortable doing so I brought it in. I first brought it in around Halloween 2014. It took the standard 3-4 weeks -- LOL. They did a tune-up and standard oil change. Got it back and used it thru winter for plowing duty. It felt like lost a few horses. The mower stalled out a number times clearing snow were it never had in the past winters. Late spring the mower started having a problem again. It would start but then die shortly afterwards. I brought it again. Got the the typical multi-week lead time. Since I have a good friend with a tractor, it doesn't bother me too much; it gives a good laugh. Calling around other dealers, not just JD, getting service in 2 weeks is considered pretty good. I get a call about 3 weeks later with an estimate for about $1200. I was kinda besides myself. I paid $1800 for it 6 a little less than 6 years ago. The tune-up to get it running was about $450 and the difference was on general wear parts e.g. spindles, pulleys, and the like. I stopped by the store to review the work. Like Dan A observed back in April (now June), the place had no inventory except for some maintenance fluids and a demo snow blower. I asked if they're going out of business. The answer I got was 'no' that they had sold out and were expecting delivery in a couple weeks. Odd! That and no JD signage, I think they're in denial and/or are trying to stay alive on maintenance work until, who knows, they work something out with JD. Noticed recently that they aren't a listed dealer on JD's website. About a week or so later I got a call that the mower is ready. Borrowed my friend's trailer the following Saturday and headed over. Bill was a little lower than they had estimated $350 -- instead of $450. Thought that I was getting a friendly break. Paid my bill. They drove the tractor up into the trailer and off I went. Next day I went to go cut my lawn and within about 5 mins, it died. I couldn't getting it started again even after waiting a day. 2 tune-ups 9 months apart and my mower is worse than before I brought in the first time! I'll call tomorrow and ask for a refund at least for the labor. I was going to demand that they come pick it up no charge, but I'm concerned that I may not get it back if the bank comes and shut them down. I don't particularly fault them for the even the $1200 estimate. This is a big box store mower. Even though it's the middle of the line, it is the low margin high volume offering... You get what you pay for. Funny, I'm now considering a $20k sub compact tractor. Even though I'd easily get 20-30 years out of it, taking about 10 years to break even, it's still a hard pill to swallow. Oh well... Such is life.

Something is terribly wrong with this dealer. I ordered 2 switches for my John Deere tractor on April 6 and have called and visited the store many times to ask when I will receive them. As of today May 11, I stil do not have my parts (which I paid for in advance) and every time I call or visit their store their President Larry Fryatt tells me "tomorrow" or "they will be here in a few days". My wife has also called to follow up and received the same response, "tomorrow". This has now been going on for over a month and in the past when I ordered merchandise from them it took 2 - 3 days only; also the place looks like it is nearly empty and possible they are going out of business. ?? My tractor will not operate without these switches and is useless to me. This sort of customer service is terrible and I will never buy anything from them again and will pursue my options with Massachusetts attorney general consumer affairs division. Very dissatisifed with this establishment which was once a very good vendor to deal with but that appears to no longer be the case.
