Recently called in to cancel a car reservation for a client of mine flying into Nantucket Airport. Upon speaking with Ken, and informing him that it was due to weather that my client would not be flying in, he proceeded to ask "where my client was flying in from" and state that Nantucket wasn't receiving bad weather until the end of the week, so he "would be charging me the full amount" if we cancelled. There was no empathy in his questioning - purely judgement. His tone and the way he handled a simple conversation was extremely rude. It was unprofessional and unnecessary, as I am fully aware that there are typically cancellation fees associated with same day reservations. I did not call in to see if I could avoid those fees, I called in to simply cancel a reservation that wasn't needed. I will recommend my clients to not book with this company moving forward if this is how customers are treated.

This is the place to rent a car while on nantucket. The people who work here are so kind and very helpful. They always go that extra mile to make things as convenient as possible. the cars are super clean which is always appreciated.

We had a wonderful experience renting with Nantucket Island rent a car. The customer service from inside at the counter to outside in the rental lot was top notch. We rented a Jeep ( brand new ) and loved every aspect of our island adventure. These guys are the go to car rental company in Nantucket, they have different variations of new Jeep products as well as a good selection of other cars. Great service, excellent people, good rates and awesome cars!

Five stars and then some! We were met at the ferry by Duane and he was absolutely amazing. He gave us the lo down on the island and the best places to go and eat. When we got to the airport we were given great instructions on how to go about off-roading and it was easy and so much fun! We were running late at the end of the day and Duane gave us a ride back to the ferry - even though he clocked out! I have rented many vehicles and I have never gotten this level of service. Thanks for making our Nantucket day so much fun!

Hard Pass.Nice group, new vehicles, but when they say "charges may not include all taxes and fees," be prepared to get hit with about $500 worth of fees they don't disclose at initial quote. Find a group that is transparent. You'll be happier you did.

Does not even deserve one star!On Sept 6 I phoned to inquire about rates for a car. I asked two questions "what are your rates" and "how much in advance do I need to rent, as I am not sure if I will need a car for two or three days" The response from the agent was "Do you want the car or no? Don't waste my time with your questions" and then he hung up on me! So - not only will I NEVER EVER rent from them, but have filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau and the Nantucket Visitors Center. #nantucketislantrentacar needs etiquette lessons!

I booked a rental car, a mini-van months ago for two weeks this summer because we could not get ferry reservations for our car. We were waitlisted but nothing came through. I found out I had an opportunity to get a car ferried out there but many days after we got there. So I emailed to find out what the cancellation policy was and what would happen if we returned the car early. the reply from John was they have a weekly minimum. I wasn't sure what he meant so I reached out again to ask if we would lose amount for the full 2 weeks. His reply was "I can see where this is going, your reservation has been canceled." I was shocked! Who treats a customer that way?? would never use this business again!

These guys were great! They picked us up at the ferry right when we arrived. Roger was more than accommodating with our customer service needs and Duane drove us to a breakfast place back in town when we returned the car and was able to give us direction to a couple other stops. These guys were also the cheapest I could find for a rental, highly recommend!

This was my first time renting from this company and it won't be the last. Ken, who took my reservation, was so helpful and willing to have me picked up at the pier by Duane who also works for this company even though the ferry came in later than they would usually offer this service. And then I discovered that my suitcase never made it onto the ferry and I didn't know how I was going to be able to get it from my parked car in Hyannis over to Nantucket. I was talking to my friends while Duane was driving us to get my rental car and he very generously offered to get the suitcase for me by taking the ferry back to Hyannis that evening and then bringing it to the rental car office for me to get the next day. This unselfish, kind man went out of his way to help me and insisted that I not pay him for his time and trouble to do this. Ken & Duane are outstanding staff for this company and I can't thank Duane, in particular, enough for his kindness. I will definitely rent from this company in the future when I annually go to Nantucket and I'd encourage greatly that other people do the same.

Terrible service and very rude. Go elsewhere. The agent hung up twice and refused to let me speak to a manager. I know it is a small island and few choices but if possible make a different one - Windwill much nicer and attententative.

Very disappointing. I rented a jeep for a weekend on the island and returned in good shape and unharmed. Man said i was all set and he would put top up for me as I needed to rush to ferry. Walked around jeep everything was good. Company claims Jeep damaged charged me over 700!! for a small link they claim needed to be replaced on truck!! I was never called never notified and when I called the office they were not helpful at all! They sent me a copy of a new bill!! Crazy and scary.. BE AWARE! I will never use them again. Very sketchy rental company.
