The White Elephant in Nantucket is a beautiful hotel that balances luxury with classic, relaxed New England charm. It is absolutely stunning, with gorgeous rooms and fantastic decor. The rooms are spacious, clean, and decorated in a light, coastal style. Guests can also stay in beautiful, private cottages, which feel like a perfect private retreat. The hotel is very family-friendly. The food is excellent, top notch, and superb, with fresh and thoughtfully prepared meals and great drinks, including a notable lobster Bloody Mary. The staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, gracious, kind, and attentive, often going out of their way to be helpful with excellent attention to detail. However, some guests feel the service does not always coincide with the high price, noting a disconnect between the cost and the level of hospitality. While staff are nice, some feel they lack training to go above and beyond, with reports of slow responses to simple requests and unreturned calls. The concierge service, in particular, has received criticism for not providing personalized help. The hotel makes enjoying the island easy with convenient amenities like bike and beach chair rentals. Excellent food we sat on the lawn and a ton of kids were out there playing. Wonderful for families.
