I went to Santander bank on Thursday 3-9-2023 at 10:00am and told the front desk I would like to open a business account and asked how long it would take. She told me about an hour, so she scheduled me an appointment for 1:00pm the same day.I came back at 1:00pm and she woman apologized and said my appointment was pushed to 1:30pm. I was a little perturbed because I had to leave a meeting early to get to the bank on time. I voiced my disappointment and the lady apologized again.I left again and came back at 1:30pm. I sat and waited until 4:20pm, nearly 3 hours to open my business account, they denied my request for a business account. Their only reason to deny me? My nationality. Even though I am a US citizen and I live here. I own a house, I have a job and also I have a personal checking account and credit card _with them_.I was so shocked they _told me_ the decision of declining me a business checking account was due to “where I was born” as I can’t see how that would effect me as a person or as a customer to them.I called this morning to ask if my documents were approved and they said the lady was busy and would call me back,she called after one hour just to tell me again it’s because of my Syrian background I got restricted.I feel like this is discrimination and racism. I feel disrespected and degraded as a US citizen _and_ a complete law abiding citizen. I respect the law, the police, I pay my taxes on time, I have great credit and I’m helpful in my community. There is no reason for them deny me and base the reason on my ethnic background.

Always helpful and treated with respect like we should treat each other regardless of being different from others! I have never had any issues with Santander Bank ever so I give them five stars ?????

I Just came back from the bank, and because the Teller couldn't cash a check and deposit money properly I cant buy food at work today and my work schedule overlaps the schedule of the banks. Thank you Santander? I'll be going to another location for now on.
