I called on a recent Sunday searching for canned snails and discovered they were closed. Imagine my surprise when the owner called me back on Monday, also a day off for them! I mentioned what I was looking for and after saying that I wasn’t interested in coming in the next day because there was a Nor’easter in the forecast, Angela offered to meet me at the store after picking up her daughter from school. Did I mention it was her day off from work?!? I left with plenty of snails in tow, as well as a beautiful baguette and some raw cow’s milk cheese from France. I’ve lived in the Newburyport area since the early 80’s and while there are stores in town that carry “this” or “that” where cheeses, wine, and specialty foods are concerned, this a one stop shop that I’m glad to have rediscovered. I’ll be back real soon during business hours to browse all their offerings! Thanks for your kindness, Angela!

So glad I made it back. Love the location since the move from Pleasant. Thank you so much individual attention and allowing me to opine (snore). Shropshire Blue was tremendous and made the cheese board a home run. As far as blue cheese is concerned I have to say it’s a tie between that and Roquefort. See you soon will be back with my 86 year old mum in tow

After browsing and looking at wines with no prices Most of the wines were not priced. The four of us kept saying to each other how much is this wine but the two employees never approached us or asked if they could help. Should have known when we saw the$50 Bernie mittens for sale. Thanks for the great service!

In Newburyport for a weekend family gathering and we were so fortunate to fine Grand Trunk! We checked out all the local food/wine spots and this was by far the best. The owners helped us with selecting the perfect wines and we built a magnificent charcuterie board. Then they provided tips to guide us to local spots for the balance of our dining needs. Really made our trip special. They also have a very talented singer/songwriter daughter, Eloise Kirkpatrick. Check her out on Spotify.

Avoid purchasing a gift card to the store here, business will not redeem them! I was gifted a certificate here from a family member, unfortunately the employee did not log everything correctly when it was purchased so they were unable to honor it. Other reviews mention gift card issues... seems odd and maybe intententional.

The little shop that should be visited. Nice assortment of things that go with wine or whatever you choose.

The owner is deceitful. Would not let us redeem gift certificates. There are many other decent and honest shop owners to support, not these people.

Such a lovely wine shop with a fabulous selection, especially of interesting European wines. Jeremy was very helpful and was happy to suggest wines and meats from the deli. We’ll definitely be back!

One afternoon in Newburyport, I went to Grand Trunk Wine & Cheese. I came out of there thinking it was quite a find. It is not a restaurant. It’s really a Gift & Specialty Shop. The shop had excellent selections of imported wines and cheeses. The shop also carried imported pasta products and miscellaneous gourmet foods as well as cutting boards, pans, and a few other household items. The owners are experts on the items they sell. I got some Urgèlia cheese from the Catalonia Region of Spain. It was a cow’s milk cheese. It had an earthy flavor like mushrooms. It’s aged a minimum of 45 days. The cheese is brined repeatedly during aging; and, when ripe, it has a semisoft paste that is pale with some small irregular holes and a moist orange brown rind. Urgèlia is mild and buttery with a semisoft consistency. In addition to mushrooms, the flavor is sometimes described as fruity with an aroma reminiscent of moss or almonds. I quite enjoyed it. I rate Grand Trunk Wine & Cheese at 5.0 and highly recommend stopping in to all wine fans and cheese-lovers. The reason for the delay in submitting this review was due to a months-long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews. If you found this review useful, please click HELPFUL.

A great little wine and cheese store tucked away in a small neighborhood in Newburyport! Great selection of wines, a wide variety of cheeses and some other sundries such as some cold cuts and very helpful staff.

Truly the ideal wine and cheese shop. The proprietors are very knowledgeable with a carefully curated selection. There is even easy parking right in front and fresh baguettes!

Was in Newburyport on vacation in stumbled upon Grand Trunk. They had a great selection for such a small place and the prices were reasonable. The owner was very welcoming and helped me make some selections for company that we're having that evening. I would definitely try this out, we really enjoyed their products and the recommendations.
