Terrible customer service, rude manager! This is the 2nd time I’ve gone to Swartz Ace Hardware and have been unable to use coupon received in the mail. Asked to speak to manager, he kept telling me the coupon has already been used…I had just received it 2 days prior, then he told me it was expired, expiration date says 01/30/24, when I pointed this out he was back to I had used it already. I also had a coupon in my Ace Harware App, tried to use that, he told me it was online only when it specifically says online or in store. Finally gave up and paid full price. Won’t be going back there, I’ll travel to Ace in Belmont!!!

The garden section was plentiful. We got a nice lamp as well. Great tool selection and interior add on. It is busy so be careful of aisles, u-boats and machinery.

If I could give zero stars, I would do so. I've shopped at Swartz for many years because it is in the neighborhood, and I support local business. Today I tried to return a defective product. Store staffed refused to issue credit because I could not produce a receipt. Both of these employees have seen me in the store may times. The product is clearly defective, and it is an item that Swartz sells. My word should be good enough. My policy -- I do not do business with retailers that do not know and respect their customers, and are unwilling to stand by the products they sell. If you're going to behave like a big box store, I'll go there instead for better prices and selection.

This is by far the worst hardware store around. Unhelpful staff, they never have any inventory and they don't even take returns on barely used overpriced products they do have. I know they've been in the community forever, but it just makes more sense to buy from Amazon or Home Depot.

This is not the same place it was 10 years ago, when Mr Schwartz sold it to Senneth Berrier. Near as I can tell she buys up area True Values/Ace Hardwares. She may be a lovely person, but on her watch the customer service at Schwartz's has deteriorated dramatically. "The Customer is Always Bothering Me" should be their motto. I've overheard them giving customers misinformation or saying they didn't carry something when, if you knew where to look, it was right on the shelf. And they can be really condescending to women -- although I suppose they may just be condescending to everyone. But that's nothing compared to two experiences I've had there in the past 18 months. In both cases one of the younger guys tried to sell me the wrong part or accessory--in the first it would have damaged the tool and in the second could have caused an electrical fire. In neither case did the clerk seem to particularly care about their mistake/lack of knowledge In the second case the young clerk kept doubling down and insisting he was right. The idea that he was going to keep making the mistake and putting other people at risk concerned me enough that I sought out the manager before I left. I thought maybe he could turn it into a learning experience for the kid -- after all all those all hardware store guys who know everything have to learn somehow, don't they? Instead the guy ( an older guy, he neither confirmed or denied he was the manager when I asked) climbed up one side of me and down the other. How was it any of my business? Why did I care? Well because your clerk insisted on a recommendation to me that, if I didn't know better, could have caused an electrical fire. And if he did it to me he might do it to someone who didn't know better. The Pandemic has been tough on business I know. But at Schwartz's it has only accelerated the deterioration that began well ahead of the virus. There's an unhappy, unhelpful vibe that permeates the place. Schwartz's is my neighborhood hardware store. But at this point I'd rather drive to the big box store than set foot in there. And I never thought I would say something like that.

I live within walking distance, it's easy to walk over and get what I need (or ask a dozen questions about things I THINK I need). Stopped in a few days ago to buy one of those "Zip It" plastic drain things, and my description of "I'm looking for one of those plastic things that goes down the drain and has little spiky things" had the nice guy at the counter (initials on receipt are JS) leading me right over to where they were hanging. My friend's dog was with me, the nice guy offered him a Milk Bone and I received great service for my $3.59 item.

I have never been treated in such a demeaning manner in any store, and I am a very patient and polite customer (been told this multiple times by merchants and customer service specialists). I ordered two hose sprayers from Ace. One sprayer arrived at the store defective, and they offered to reorder it for me. It has taken weeks, several requests for me to explain the same problem over and over again, their inability to find my order on their computer, and an arrogant and rude manager for me to decide a refund for an $18.05 hose sprayer is not worth spending one more minute dealing with this store. The manager actually asked with whom I had spoken about the problem and was surprised I didn't remember the names of the multiple people with whom I had spoken on the phone and in person. About a hose sprayer. A lesson in how to make Home Depot and Lowes look good.

I needed a handsaw but don't know anything about tools. There were two available, one Ace branded saw for $10 and one Stanley branded saw for $20. I asked the guy what the difference between the two was aside from the Stanley having a wooden handle and the Ace having a plastic handle, and he pointed out that the two saws had slightly different numbers of teeth per inch, but that aside from that, the only real difference is the brand. Therefore I went with the cheaper Ace saw. I appreciate the honesty of the staff, even when it means recommending something cheaper (=less sales for them) and will keep that in mind in the future.

Great place. Very organized and helpful. I bought fox urine for my garden and it worked so well. Rabbits will never come when you have it around the garden. Really easy to use, just sprinkle it around the garden

Started looking for a particular lubricant I needed, someone came over and found it immediately. The other guy opened the 2nd register up even though there was only one person in front of me. Very good service, I'll come back here instead of going to one of the large home supply stores.

Watch out-BIG RIPOFF!! Went in there to exchange 2 Sodastream CO2 cannisters. The way it is supposed to work is you give them your old CO@ tank and they give you a new one. The new tanks cost $29.99, but the refill is only supposed to be $14.99. In the store you can tell them apart because the new ones are in boxes but the refills are not. What Swartz ripoff hardware did was take all the new CO2 tanks out of their boxes and put them on the shelf next to the refill tanks and they are selling them all for $29.99. How many people have you ripped off in this manner?
