Recently, the Lifetime Cafe issued a statement prohibiting members from bringing their own food or snacks to enjoy after working out and relaxing. Additionally, they restrict members' usage of utensils. This policy diminishes the quality of the gym experience. The essence of a gym is to support members' health, yet this rule hinders that goal. It restricts access to comfort foods and may pose challenges for those with food allergies who cannot consume the cafe's offerings. Consequently, it feels like working out at a subpar establishment rather than a top-notch gym.

I want to preface by saying this is a great gym aesthetically and the instructors are (for the most part) excellent and seem to genuinely care about helping you reach your fitness goals. My issue is with a choice management recently decided to make. I’m an avid goer of the barre and mat Pilates group fitness classes and the spot placement has always been pretty snug to the point where you can’t do certain movements if a class is full. Starting in March 2024 they decided to put the spots even closer together. The new spot placement is not only unsafe but also unsanitary considering we are still living in a post-covid world. This is supposed to be a luxury gym and yet they cram you into the rooms like cattle.I’m keeping my membership because I would hate to miss out on the wonderful instructors I can only see at this club, but most days I go to Westwood since it’s not as crowded.

Beautiful gym but the management is terrible. $259 a month and they keep removing benefits. Not worth it.I was a former member and wanted to rejoin but wanted to see how many of the "luxury" amenities remained. Wouldn't let me go visit the gym and kids club without paying $75. They must be really hurting for cash....I went from wanting to rejoin to wanting to spend my money literally anywhere else. Disappointing. Very disappointing. The yelp reviews are brutal and now I know why....

I love this gym so much. The classes are fantastic- the heated yoga- specifically flow and warrior sculpt as well as the cycle classes are my favorite. Alpha and gtx are also favorites and are like small group training. All instructors have been wonderful. The kids academy is where I feel this is really worth it for me. I am able to get a workout in, tutor from the cafe, and take a shower knowing that my kids are happy and doing fun classes. They are always excited to go and I am never bothered during my workout. The parents night out events are also fantastic and I get built in baby sitting to go to dinner or see friends. The staff at the kids academy, especially Danielle, are truly a godsend. Is this place expensive, yes, but I feel like I use it and it is worth it. My only suggestion would be softer towels.

Beautiful place, there are an array of equipment to use. However I would like to point out, that there are "Karen" members that think they run the club. Some members have close relations with employees, and, as a member, will feel entitled enough to threaten other members / employees to have them kicked out of this club. No appropriate action has been taken to deal with them. I have seen members, and employees be let go because of a "Karen" getting their way. Employees are biased and favor certain members over others. It is causing an unfair, and unsafe environment, and not worth spending $250 a month. Also, children run around in the locker rooms screaming and nothing is done about it. Overall, only the rich, petty, naive members are favored, and cause more stress.

Alex Chery, one of many great trainers at Lifetime in Chestnut Hill, MA, is my Personal Trainer there. He worked with me initially, pre Covid and when I rejoined a month ago, I received an hour training again with Alex.Alex is a very genuine person who cares about every client. He listened to my concerns and goals, then advised me on diet, hydration, sleep, stress reduction techniques and exercises geared toward this 67 year old who’s a 37 year old wannabe. He recommended Lifetime classes including one that he teaches called Alpha Strength. Though totally out of my comfort zone, I tried it and love it. Alex is a tremendous teacher. Though a popular class, he manages to circulate during the entire 60 minutes to help each individual with proper form and encouragement. From novices to bodybuilders, Alex is consistent in his approach to everyone. I can strongly endorse Alex as a great Personal Trainer!

Unreal. The facility is huge. It is beautiful, and the staff was wonderful. This was off the first visit, however they have taken member fees and reinvested it in a way that will make you feel valued. It won't disappoint.

The fact they don’t offer free 1 day trial and have you pay $75 for the day to try before you commit is absurd. Whoever I spoke to on the phone about membership options was also not friendly/inviting at all and made me decide against this gym. Go to Equinox right down the street, this is definitely not worth it!

I worked for life time in Illinois for two years, so I feel sad writing a sub-par review. Unfortunately, this location is just that. I joined in December of 2022 at a rate of $219/mth for a single person. I convinced my partner to join too, as he wanted to lift in the mornings and Life Time was one of the few places open before 6am. He joined a month later, but was clear this was a trial basis for him, and we changed the membership to $319/mth for two people.During our time there, there were machines that weren’t functioning correctly. My partner reported one to at least seven members of the staff, and it still hadn’t been fixed after several weeks (both under old management and the current new management). My partner wasn’t for the fluff of towels, provided toiletries, etc and decided mid-May he was going to cancel his membership and switch to a cheaper option with better equipment maintenance. I emailed through the app to notify LTF that I’d be returning to my single member and was aware my price would be $219/mth for just me.I received a response where they informed me it would be a $10 charge to remove him, and my new membership price would be $229/mth. When I inquired about why it would go up, the response was essentially I should feel lucky that it’s $229 and not the current rate of $259 (!!!), and that they do not guarantee rate lock-in. Just for some perspective, Burlington costs $259/mth and they have tennis and pickle ball courts, as well as option for indoor and outdoor swimming, which chestnut hill does not.I was already annoyed that I had to pay the same rate as men after finding out from my partner men have access to a cold plunge pool in their locker room (I was told by the previous GM that they could only put it in one locker room due to space and they chose the men’s to trial it). Considering the high level evidence to support longevity and health, it is a complete disservice to women and absurd to charge the same amount without equitable access to amenities (google Peter Attia or Huberman Lab and cold exposure). This is literally called the healthy way of life company and they’re providing superior health and longevity benefits to ONLY men.Anyway, long story longer, between that and the complete lapse in customer service. They had to try to squeeze out that last little bit, sticking to their guns on an increase of $10/mth, from a company that was sold for $4 billion in the middle of the pandemic after I brought them in an extra $500 worth of revenue over 5 mths on having my partner on my membership. I’m still getting emails asking me if I’d reconsider and come back. There are other things such as not being able to use a majority of the racks in the mornings due to alpha classes, the lack of cleaning that is done, consistently empty cleaning wipes/tissues/etc, signing up for spaces for yoga classes and people being in them who never signed up because there is no one checking people in.That being said, it was nice to have all my toiletries, towels, etc provided. Day lockers. Sauna and steam room. The yoga instructors were phenomenal (particularly Jodie, Danielle, Mary and Meredith). Which is why they get two stars instead of one.

I really appreciate what Life Time Newton location kids academy staff doing for my son. My son has autism and it was really hard for him to go to a new place. The first time we brought him to kids academy, he only stays for 10 mins and he can't stop crying and screaming. At the second time, Chrissey assigned Ben who has ABA experience to take care of my son. Guess what, my son stays around 2 hours there(he cried at the first 10 mins)!! When I came to pick him up, I can tell he had so much fun over there. At the third time, another staff (sorry, I didn't know his name) even brought cups to welcome my son.(My son is obsessed with cups) Because of those lovely and professional staff at kids academy, my husband and I are able to take a moment to enjoy workout. And we have tried so many fitness before, Life Time is the only one we decided to keep using it because of the kids academy.THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! KIDS ACADEMY STAFF!! YOU GUYS ARE LIFE CHANGER!!

Everything is super clean, variety of equipment, and great class options- especially the pilates and barre classes. I would recommend taking any pilates class with Phoebe Liu, her classes are always super challenging but fun and she always does new things in her classes!

I love this gym and everyone is extremely friendly including the front desk staff. Shout out to Spice, she always makes me feel so welcomed when I come in. The location is extremely clean and luxurious. As a PoC, I was kind of nervous coming to this gym initially but that changed very quickly. It’s very diverse in race, age, and experience levels. All the staff in the Kids Academy are so friendly and provide me a detailed report on how my son is progressing along. They have so many activities for the children and provide individualized care. I’m in the best physical shape thanks to LifeTime. 10/10

Phoebe is a professional and friendly Pilates instructor at the Chestnut Hill Lifetime location.Phoebe has 9+ years of experience and is an amazing, talented, encouraging and attentive trainer.I started my Pilates journey with Phoebe a month ago and she has helped with my core, flexibility, posture and strength.Phoebe modifies an exercise or makes it more challenging to accommodate my needs. She is patient and has helped me to not only understand pilates and breathing, but more importantly how those functions relate to my body.Thank you for challenging and giving me the greatest motivation to achieve great results beyond my dreams.
